I wasn't (and still aren't) really into the card-battle style games. But I played the heck out of the PS2 version of this. It's not that hard to learn, honestly - and it's really addictive!

CRAAAAAP - I just bought this at GS a few weeks ago... too late to take it back.
Finally a good DOTD, and I already have it. That's what I get for not waiting for a deal... my ass wasn't cheap enough :wall:
Definitely try the demo of this if you haven't already. I'm in the same boat as chrisnsally, I've never been able to get into CCGs, but this game is awesome. I think anybody (well, anyone who likes this sort of thing) would definitely get $26 worth of good out of it.

Awesome game, got it at launch with some best buy rewards and a coupon. Worth full price...
Maybe everyone is playing like me. I'm waiting to get online until I beat the regular game and get all the cards I can...I figured I'd get online and get killed because I did not have the best cards yet.

+1 :bomb: i bought it when GS was giving the "free guide", that wasn't actually much a guide at all just a mini one. This just adds to my hate for GS and my love for amazon. O well didnt work out for me this time. it is an awesome game maybe now we can start a cag tourney or something.

It's much more of a board game with RPG elements than a card game. I really love it, and the price is fantastic. Highly recommended to everyone. Hmmm.... this is VERY tempting. I'm just not sure where I'd fall on the range of people who would be into this game. I like a good board game, I love Magic the Gathering (although I've never been able to get into any other CCGs at all) but I'm really not into RPGs.
I've also got a ridiculous backlog of 360 games I've yet to even start (including several AAA titles that shame me by still being in the shrinkwrap)
Ah, what the hell. For $26, I'll give it a shot. In for one. Thanks OP.

Normally I would do that, but I work nights and I'm going to bed shortly. If this were a price drop and not a DotD, I'd definitely check it out first. If I wait until I get up tonight, chances are the deal will be dead. Eh, if I don't like it, I'll throw it up on Goozex or trade it here.

For those worrying about the RPG element...don't, because there basically isn't one. The dialog and story come off as incredibly cheesy.
That being said, I still love this game. Don't buy the game for the "story," the fun is in the battles, which are what this game is 99% about.

I really wouldn't worry about people crying "RPG" on this one... there is no leveling up (absent leveling up spaces ala hotels in Monopoly), no meaningful equipment (though you can customize your avatar), no real exploration, no world map nor other areas to explore, no puzzles, no shops, etc... There is a fantasy story, but hell, many action games have far more RPGish stories .
At it's core, it really is Monopoly with a trading card game overlayed upon it. You'll progress across increasingly complex boards and face opponents with increasingly refined decks. After each battle, you'll get a 'pack' of cards, with a number dependent upon the difficulty of the board and whether you won or lost. You then have the opportunity to customize your deck, but it's completely like managing a real life TCG/CCG deck and has nothing especially RPGish about it.
It's partily a great game because it's not just a card game transposed into videogame form (such as Eye of Judgment) that could just as easily be played in real life. There are so many little micromanagement details going on (the value of a property flucuates depending upon your possession of other property elements, several cards include random card generation/substitution, status effects can be placed on everything, you can change the underlying color of spaces on the board, and there is even a property stock market introduced several boards into the game) that it would make for a very unwieldy game in real life, yet it flows perfectly in digital form.

Went up to $39.99 shipped from and sold by Target, is now $39.79 shipped from and sold by Hubbagames. From those of you with more Amazon experience than me, any chance that Amazon themselves allocate more stock to the deal later today, or is it pretty much gone now?

The real sign if it's dead is if there's something else that shows up in place of the current DOTD, which has happened a few times in the past.
Glad I jumped on it when I did and didn't wait.

its a lot better, alot more balanced and alot easier. The computer isn't nearly as cheap as the ps2 version. Ive played about 61 matches vs the ai and Ive lost only 2 of those 61.

This game is great. The AI is ridiculously easy, and the offline multiplayer seems needlessly rococo to get set up, and the story is bad, but the gameplay itself is fantastic. Far and away my favorite 360 game.

Technically, your hands are hidden (in the sense that you can't browse the hands of your opponents at your leisure), but you're able to catch glimpses of them during their turns... it's a conscious decision on their point, as part of the gameplay is knowing the cards very well and remembering what your opponents have thus far.

This game is WELL worth it, even at the non-discount price people. It's incredibly fun and addictive, whether you're a card game fan or not. Tons of bang for the buck too, as you can easily devote 50-100 hours playing through story mode and acquiring all the avatar parts. Then there's the multiplayer, which is where this game truly shines. And personally, I've never had any problems finding matches online.

So I picked up 3 copies of this at the $26 price--one for me and two for bday gifts...the estimated ship date isn't until April 14th though. Is that the same for other people? Seems kind of odd as it was listed as in stock...
