View Full Version : Is Tales of Vesperia really 360 exclusive!?

I could have sworn when I first read about it that it would just be a delayed release on PS3, similar to how Eternal Sonata is. Since that time though, I can't remember where I've read it, and I haven't seen a single mention of it being just a delayed release for PS3.

Considering I sold my 360 in part to eventually pick up a PS3 for JRPGs (which is already looking kind of foolish since the only big JRPG I can think of that's PS3 exclusive is FFXIII, though there is a huge backlog of PS2 JRPGs), one of my biggest wants now being 360 exclusive would not make me a happy camper. If Star Ocean 4 is announced as 360 exclusive as well (damn SE and their secrets!), I don't know what I'm going to do lol. :wall:

As far as I know it's 360 only right now, though I suppose it could only be a timed exclusive.

There's no confirmation or denial of it being an exclusive I think. However, for now it's only announced for the 360.

IMO, there's a chance that it's a timed exclusive if you look at past Bandai Namco games.

Timed exclusive is just fine by me, even though I'd be extremely jealous of 360 owners getting to play it much earlier. As long as Vesperia and Star Ocean 4 hit the PS3, the only RPG I'll have missed on 360 that I wanted to play would be Lost Odyssey. At least, going by what games have been announced or we know about.

360.

Tri-Ace has said nothing about SO4.
Its still unannounced next-gen.

I don't know why Japanese Publishers are doing this.
I guess they dont want their games to sell.

I'm thinking Microsoft pays Bandai Namco some good money to keep the games (timed) exclusive.

I think you're right, there's no way Bandai Namco is releasing so many 360 exclusives and timed exclusives out of the kindness of their hearts. Microsoft has to be paying them.

I thought Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, and especially Lost Odyssey did well as far as sales on the 360? Or did you mean not sell in Japan?

Well of course. Does any publisher give a console a timed exclusive out of the kindness of their heart?

They didn't do so well in Japan.

BD did the best, but it was not a success by any stretch of the imagination.

Microsoft keeps getting these games on there system, but people in Japan don't want to have an xbox.

I mean jeeze.

the developer suggested that a PS3 port would be possible so that something to think about. You are however missing that other Tri Ace game that is X360 exclusive. But you do get Disagea 3 in a few months

ah yes, the ever mysterious "Infinite Undiscovery".
I hope they rename it at some point.

Mistwalker also has 3 more projects in the 360 pipeline.
Blue Dragon 2
Cry On (an action-rpg developed by Cavia)
and an MMORPG too apparently.

You are right, I totally forgot about Infinite Undiscovery.

Ah yes, the game where you turn into the mega tall knight dude to fight huge monsters. It looks really odd lol.

There is no way it will be a 360 exclusive forever. Tales is big in Japan, and the 360 obviously isn't. There is no way they will make their money back unless it comes to PS3.

This is the best logic I have ever seen. For some reason it never even occured to me.

FYI I'm not being sarcastic, so don't get mad thinking I am. I really didn't even think of that until you posted it.

Its Level 5.

Yeah I know. Still doesn't make it any less odd. ;)

Sounds eerily like Power Rangers.

Yeah. After recently playing DQ8 and Rogue Galaxy, I'm convinced that this game alone will beat out any JRPGs that the 360 already has.

But you do get Disagea 3 in a few monthsI seem to recall that they phrased it as if a PS3 port would be based on sales of the 360 version. I'd be very surprised if it ended up exclusive to 360 when all is said and done.

Funny, after playing Rogue Galaxy I feel the opposite way.

I read somewhere that they started work on the 360 because the PS3 wasn't out when they first started development (or something like that). So it makes sense that it would come out on the 360 first.... nothing devious there.

Tales games are incredibly generic. MS can have the Tales series as long as PS3 gets Shin Megami Tensei 4.

Actually, i looked it up on Gamestop and Amazon, they're both saying August. I didn't expect this one until late fall or into 2009. 2008 is freaking insane with the quality and volume of games coming out. I can't keep up!

According to their recent slipup, it's coming to PS3, but later rather than sooner ala Eternal Sonata (which still isn't on PS3). I don't know how much Microsoft is paying them, but it has to be one pretty penny.

I love the Tales series, but for Bandai Namco to make it 360 exclusive is just retarded.

NOTE: I will be getting it on 360. But don't get me wrong, even getting paid for exclusivity of the game is dumb.
