View Full Version : Anyone else experiencing "exploding" batteries with Thrustmaster wireless controller?

I made the mistake of buying the less-than-satisfactory Thrustmaster wireless controller. I don't use it often, but the other weekend a friend was using the gamepad and the batteries "exploded." There was a soft pop and when we looked in the battery compartment one of the batteries was leaking. I was using Duracell batteries so I doubt the brand was an issue.

Contacted Thurstmaster who basically called me an idiot and wiped their hands of the problem ("First of all the T-Wireless NW is a very safe product and cannot hurt anybody or anything.").

Anyone else having issue with the controller?

Something about this controller scares me, maybe because it was too good to be true...

First of all the T-Wireless NW is a very safe product and cannot hurt anybody or anything.

They'll pay once you get covered with battery acid and gain some sweet superpowers.

More seriously, doing a quick google search I don't see any other people complaining about this. Not to discredit your story, but it could be that the batteries you had just had a defect - it happens even with brand-name stuff sometimes.

seems like you put the blame on the wrong item.

it most likely the battery causing the problem. shotty casing.

Yup. It's the battery. Unless there was a serious short in the device which caused overheating (unlikely), blame the battery mfr.

Fair enough. Blame shifted.
