Was hoping to something similar to the Conan for $10, but not even a 360 game on the list

What the fuck are you talking about? At the least, I see Bioshock. At the most, there's also FEAR and Jade Empire.
This is the second time I've seen Jade Empire in a GoGamer sale so it might end up dropping even more. I haven't even gotten to playing my recently purchased copy of KOTOR so I'll hold off... maybe.

good to see we're getting the gogamer.com madness sales info early. Is this going to be a regular treat or just a one time fluke???

Good games, just that I'm not the PC gamer that I used to be. Sure I still sit down to play Counter-Strike or WC3 TFT Dota Maps, but I now enjoy my Ps2 and 360 more than I used to.

Nice, I'm getting Jade Empire. I would also get FEAR and BioShock if I didn't already have them.
Difference?
There is no Perseus Mandate in the Gold Edition.

If I'm not mistaken , didn't perseus mandate get crappy reviews anyway? For me , getting a cheaper bundle that has the two GOOD fear games is better than paying more and getting the crappy second expansion anyway. But that's just me.

Damn. Was hoping for a decent, cheap 360 game, to make up for them canceling my Conan order. I also already have BioShock and FEAR Gold. Oh well.

Arcanum's a pretty cool game. The combat is shitty as hell, but the setting and dialog is top notch. Good price if you want some old school RPGing.

Definitely. I never realized this game was still carried, I was under the impression it was out of print. An excellent price for an excellent game.

It pretty much is out of print, actually. Now's probably a good time to pick it up for a decent price before it's gone and goes into the land of stupidly overpriced used RPGs.

I was about to say that. Also, Arcanum seems to be an import, and judging by the boxart, it's German?

$7.90 for Jade Empire FTW!!! Best RPG on the original XBox, not to mention one of Bioware's best games ever.

Great prices on Bioshock and Jade Empire, but I already both. Decent price on FEAR gold but I already have them all, plus you might as well get the Platinum with all three games even if Perseus Mandate isn't as good.

That's a darn good point... what kind of import is this? I think all GoGamer imports are English and install without a hitch. They usually come in a DVD-style case and a reduced (if any) manual. However, that box shot is suspicious. Anybody bought this from them before?
BrandonMills
04-09-2008, 09:59 AM
Arcanum is a fairly decent RPG if I remember correctly.
A bit deceptive percentage pricing on Bioshock, given you can get it for $30 in many places retail now. Oh well.

I did too. Ran better than the 360 version on one with a 256MB 8600GT.
And? Import PC games work just fine.
I wonder...does the import version have the same nasty "activation" DRM that the U.S. version does? Could be worse, or, for all I know maybe it doesn't have it at all (in which case I should have bought the PC version, but I didn't think of checking out the imports when I bought it).

I bought an import copy of Nox a few months ago, and the box art was covered in pretty much every European language available. It seems that with European games, they come with a multitude of language options, but I sincerely doubt it will not have an English option.

From what I've heard, they turned that off a while ago anyway.

I'm guessing he, like I, had his $10 Conan order canceled, despite it getting processed and supposedly being ready to ship. They said they didn't have enough copies to fulfill the orders, but they do have enough copies to sell at $40. I'm not quiet as angry as he is about it, but I was still pretty disappointed.

Thanks Cheapy. I'm in for Arcanum. I had been eagerly awaiting it's release, and then the lukewarm reviews made me hold off. Nice to be reminded of it with a sale before all the retail stock dries up :)

Oh noes! It's an uppity Euro version! It won't work on my computer because they spell color as colour! ;)
It's not like PC's are region locked! #-oPlus with Import games, you usually get the uncensored version of it (i.e Witcher). Not to mention a more accommodating Double DVD case
SqueeMK2
04-11-2008, 12:19 AM
Yep. 90% of the time there's no reason to avoid an import. Occasionally they'll have a game Starforced that we don't (Or vice-versa) but it's almost always the exact same game.
Serik
04-11-2008, 12:55 AM
Actually sometimes you should avoid imports. Example: people who bought The Orange Box from Singapore or wherever had the game invalidated by Valve. The company didn't approve of them "underpaying" for the game by purchasing it from outside the US or EU...
So Steam, like consoles, is effectively region locked. At least for Valve games.

That's the other 10%. ;) If I recall correctly, the Singapore version was grossly underpriced compared to the US. If anything, UK/Euro imports cost more because of the almighty weak dollar :-/ I'm sure Value in that case would have no problem instating that game. Money is Money. But I hear you on that. You are rolling the dice with any of those Steam (and equivalents). Caveat Emptor I guess on those

So do I. I'm not fool enough to buy any of their bad overpriced products, though.
I bought Jade Empire. Been wanting to play it for years and now I can finally get around to it.
Serik
04-11-2008, 02:12 AM
Yeah, I wouldn't recommend Americans import stuff from the UK/EU. But the Singapore copy would still cost less for Europeans.
The region lock crap is one of the things I hate most about Steam.

Its the blatant lie that pisses me off. If they run out, fine, I missed a deal. But the same game is available at 4 times the price when they cancel my order, thats BS.
