wait what? How old is your nephew? 3,5, 10, 15, 20 years old? Still in diapers?
If he's under 10 years old, I think animation software would be a little overwhelming for him with out and understanding of 2-D still art.
if you really want him to get into computer art, try this program called
GIMP (http://gimp.org/). It's a free photoshop like software that can do many things. I have taught it to the lower grades because it was a lot easier than photoshop.
