I picked it up for $40 Shipped Brand New on ebay less than a week after release. The game is very fun. The glaive is a great weapon. A few problem though. You dont get to pick a difficulty to start so some parts are really easy some are kinda hard. The single player is rather short. You will find your sell saying "WTF" when you play for an hour and are already into Chapter 4 (There are 9). If you are buying for a single player campaign you may want to rent it. The multiplayer is alright but gets older rather quickly. I will probably finish with mine soon and it will be on my tradelist. Hopefully someone finds this helpfull.

It's actually a decent game but very short for single player around 8-10 hrs short. Beat one day on a rental, multiplayer is really not that great 2 modes (Infection and protection type games) and it was wasn't very stable as it was laggy.

As for the glaive its actually quite fun to used and its kinda like the after touch of heavenly sword but you can use the right analog to make it more precise.

Overall, its very average and beside the glaive it really isn' t worth writing home about.

I caved and bought it for $50 with a Circuit City gift card (courtesy of Crisis Core) since I had been waiting so frickin' long for the game already and just wanted to play it. While I haven't beaten the game yet, I've found it amusing in short 1 hour bursts, and the glaive is pretty cool to use (moreso with the motion controls on the PS3) but other than that, it's standard action fare. Multiplayer is a nice little diversion, but obviously not the crux of the game, so I wouldn't put too much stock in it when deciding to buy the game.

I paid $8.99 for Dark Sector, and am disappointed with it.

I will say this though, it probably has the best graphics on the 360, and the first level is amazing. After that... it goes down hill (but starts to pick-up again in mid-mission on #4).

The sad thing, is that this was the first shown game on the next gen systems.... (about 6-9 months before the Xbox 360 was released)

It looked bad ass, in a space steril enviroment with solid snake like action... to this humongous turd.

I'm in. Since Dark Messiah ended up being such a turd this will fill the void before GTA nicely. For $40 it's cheaper to buy and trade/sell than it is to rent it.

I think I am going to bite on this, in hopes that the regular price drops sometime in the next 30 days. Then I can price adjust it, similar to the Time Crisis Lightening Deal they had a few months back, where we got the game for $29.99 after the regular price dropped. If not I can always goozex it or sell it on eBay.

Don't buy it, the game sucks. Controls are clunky (no bind-fire FTL!!!), the graphics may be good but at times it gets ugly. I say rent it first, not worth a $40 purchase.

I rented it and finished it in about 4 days, although I played non-stop. The graphics look really good, and the game runs very smoothly. The gameplay is a mix of Gear of War, RE4, and Heavenly Sword. That's pretty good company, but if you've played any of those games, Dark Sector will feel very familiar right from the start.

Also, I didn't check out the multiplayer, so that might add some longevity to the game.

I'll say $40 isn't a bad price, but if you just want to play through it once and don't care about multiplayer, the rental route would be the way to go since it is not a terribly long game. Overall, I'd say it's worth checking out for action/shooter/Krull fans.

Also, one point about the final boss...


It was one of the worst ever. Basically, you kill these tentacles, which then allow you to throw your glaive at the end boss. You do this three times to win the game. Well, you basically get one shot at hitting him with your glaive. If you miss, or like me, hit him but it doesn't work for some reason, he does some unblockable/cannot-be-dodged mind attack and kills you instantly, and forces you to restart the battle. It was very frustrating! :bomb:

I finished the single played and enjoyed it quite a bit. It's good, but not great. 2 parts gears of war, 1 part RE4, and not nearly as good as either, but its a fun romp. $40 might be a smidge high, $30 is a sweet spot for sure. If you're not a big action fan and/or didn't like Gears much, avoid or stick to renting it. Multiplayer sucks. Cool in concept but very poorly executed; chaotic and laggy.

Agreed. I thought it was a great single player experience after you activated all of your glaives powers. Controlling the weapon in mid-flight to get a headshot was pretty fun, and I loved the elemental (fire, ice, etc) attributes as well.

Unfortunately, I agree with you about the final boss too. He was actually pretty easy once I realized what I had to do. The bosses for certain levels were a PITA because the game doesn't give you any indication on what you're supposed to do to beat them or to move forward in the level. There are two main instances which really bugged me, but I won't go into detail because I don't want to spoil the game for anybody. Anyhow, this game is a solid rental or great to pick up for cheap.

Well this sucks. I ordered at 10% sold and Amazon is showing the ship date as 4/21. Of the 20+ orders I've placed with them in the past they've always shipped the same day I placed the order (including another order I placed on Sunday). So much for this filling the gap before GTA. Now I either have to buy this somewhere and return the Amazon copy later or cancel the order.

Is this par for the course on the lightning deals?
