UPDATE 10/8/2004
New Line Confirms Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash Treatment
Project waiting for green light.
October 07, 2004 - New Line Cinema is definitely interested in making a sequel to Freddy vs. Jason, and combining it with a third horror franchise, Sam Raimi's Evil Dead series. New Line executive Jeff Katz himself wrote the script treatment, according to a new interview at Creature Corner. "I wrote the treatment and we're all very excited about it," he told the horror fansite.
While the Evil Dead movies may not have been major commercial successes, that won't stop the producers from including cult hero Ash, the chainsaw-wielding store clerk. "It's not about box office and what would make for the most commercial sequel," says Katz. "It's about delivering a story that will be better than the first and a story that makes sense given the continuity of the franchises."
Katz also hopes to flesh out the character of Jason Voorhees a little more in the sequel (as much as is possible, anyway). "We heard that [Jason was underutilized in Freddy vs. Jason] from fans too, and I think part of that's because Freddy has so much personality, especially compared to Jason, and any other character would be overshadowed standing next to Freddy. My entire idea is to help turn Jason into a bit more of a three-dimensional character without losing what makes him a scary badass. We have a cool twist I'm hoping will happen."
Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash hasn't gotten the go-ahead yet, but a decision could be made soon. Stay tuned!

Freddy and Jason team up? Since when?
I'd rather have Evil Dead 4.

First off, they aren't teaming up.. it'd be a free-for-all. They've also been considering this since shortly after Freddy v. Jason came out in the theatres.. I'd love to see this.. but I give it about a 2% chance of ever seeing the light of day.

In the proposed sequel, Freddy (from the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" films) and Jason (from the "Friday the 13th" pics) would go up against Ash, the cynical anti-hero survivor of Raimi's "Evil Dead" trilogy, which also includes "Army of Darkness."
But I think I see where you're coming from..
New Line is determined to find a way to extend the franchise by introducing a new character or just pitting Freddy and Jason against each other one more time

Being that Sam Reimi owns the rights to evil dead, i really really hope he doesnt give in and let them use his character in another pathetic attempt to squeese money out of a franchise.
I'd read a while back that there was an alternate ending planned to the first one with Pinhead welcoming them both to hell. I wouldn't mind that, I suppose. He'd be a good foil for the other two, plus his kills are so much more creative.

Me and my friends were waiting for Jason vs. Freddy for years. I read so many fake scripts that it was scary.
But I thought they movie was actually pretty damn good. It injected life into the movies that just hasn't been there for a long, long time.
I really like the idea of movie characters crossing over like this.
Wouldn't it be kinda funny to see Micheal Myers and Jason Vorhees to go at it? Imagine the dialogue in that one.
In the next movie, I'd like to see people stay outta it a bit and let them go at it more. The fight scenes between Jason and Freddy were great and the story made sense. Of course the acting wasn't very great from anyone not named Robert Englund, but it still entertained.

No way will Sam Raimi let them use Ash. He has better taste. I could see them getting Pinhead involved, that might be decent. IMHO, Pinhead kicks the crap out of those two losers. Or maybe the undertaker guy from Phantasm, with the steel ball of death thingee.
I also want Dokken to re-record Dream Warriors for the new film.

I think it would be cool to see Ash one more time. I can seen some interesting vamping between him and Freddy.

The movie idea is cheesy enough as it is. We don't need any 80's hair metal music.

As jmcc said, "I'd rather have Evil Dead 4." The Evil Dead movies are excellent and if they were to do a Freddy vs Jason vs Ash ot would, I'm almost a hundred percent, desecrate the Evil Dead franchise and the character ash. I had been hearing rumors of such a movie and Freddy, Ash, and Jason since right after the first one had come out. Cornfedwb is correct, the movie will most likely be a free-for-all. Even though I feel it would hurt the Evil Dead franchise, I would still see this movie as I liked the previous one, which I htink did a pretty good job with the fighting, though I would like to see more of it if the make a sequel. A better character to put in if they want another opponent would probably be PInhead IMHO.

I agree. The Evil Dead franchise will be hurt by such a pairing.

You gotta look at the bright side of this whole thing. If Raimi gives, I hope he doesn't, then Ash will become much more popular in the people who never saw the Evil Dead movies. People will be screaming for a new Evil Dead movie. I just hope Ash doesn't die, he is mortal and Freddy and Jason are not. But all Ash has to do is slice off their heads with his chainsaw. Or explode their brains with his BOOMSTICK!

This is the main reason why this movie will fail.
- What made the first movie cool, IMO, was that Freddy and Jason were both bad guys. They all killed innocent people so it kind of put you in a bind on who to root for.
Now, they're bringing in a good guy to fight against two bad guys. Where's the fun in that? We all know they will most likely let Ash win the fight now, too.
This just screams dissappointment.

Basically, there are two major roadblocks which can shut this movie idea down.
1.) As previously mentioned, Raimi owns the rights to Evil Dead, if he doesn't like the script treatment or anything else, he can simply say "no." It's not like he's a struggling director anymore (thank you Spider-man).
2.) There is, and only will be one actor who can play the role of Ash, and that is Bruce Campbell. Any other substitution the director or studio would want to cast would be deemed completely unacceptable by the core of moviegoers this movie is trying to attract.
So if Bruce Campbell says no (for whatever reason, doesn't like the script, etc.) that sinks the project.

Bruce said he wont do the movie unless he wins. And, this is also the only acceptable outcome for the movie. So, I'm glad that it has to be pointed in the right direction to even get out of the gate. I'm not very happy about this idea, because I love the Evil Dead, and would be sad to see it tainted by Freddy or Jason garbage.

Bruce Campbell rules in general. I listen during the stupid parts in the Spider-Man games just so I can hear him crack a joke or two. He's great. Maybe he could team up with Blade......or something.

I got to hang out with Bruce Campbell a few months ago at a premiere of Bubba Ho-Tep in our tiny town of Nacogdoches, TX (it's the town in Bubba Ho-Tep) at a film festival.
If you haven't met him (he does tours, etc.) he's a really funny guy. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he signed on to play Ash again.
