Overstock.com has TOS for GC for $43.90. Shipping is only $1.40. I'm pretty sure there is no sales tax:

What did you think of the game? I haven't played it yet, but everyone is talking about it.

I'm playing TOS right now, about 15 hrs. in, and really enjoying it. The story is solid, the voices are great, and the battles are super sweet. Probably the best game I've played so far this year.

Sweet. If I had a gamecube I'd be all over this. =P
Just gotta wait for the PS2 port...

What makes you think they'll be a PS2 port here in the U.S.?

It is a good game. If you only have a Gamecube and want an RPG, then get it. The story is full of RPG/Anime cliches, and the script leads to some very awkward and redundant dialogue; however, the character design and monster designs are quite good, the worlds are expansive, and the battles, especially the boss battles, are very fun and engaging. You are constantly forced to use different characters, and I tweaked my party and their battle scripts all the time.

Not that I'm aware of, at least not in the U.S.

BTW, forgot to mention that this game is definately worth the money. I haven't had much time to play it (about 10 hours with a friend), but it rocks so far.

Your topic is misleading, I thought it was $43.90 for the TOS Gamecube, not just the game. I was like Whoa!

Yeah I've heard a lot about a PS2 port with extra stuff.

TOS is an amazing game, I highly recommend it as well. One of the few games I've gotten in recent history that I've felt was definetly worth 50 bucks.

Your link still doesn't show that TOS is coming to the PS2 in the U.S.

TOS to US PS2 is still very much up in the air
I have heard nothing outright negative about this
From my own experience (30 hrs in) I have enjoyed it very much- particularly the battle sytem which keeps battles from hitting the tready wall of boredom
i picked it up for full price and have not been disappointed

Even it did come out on PS2 I would probably still get it on gamecube for 4 players, even though I have ToD 1 and 2 and never really used the multiplayer much because it was kinda gimmicky, i hope they made it easier to play with others in ToS.

Check your link. First off, the port is only announced for Japan so far. Secondly, the only "extra" stuff is a demo of the new Tales game which is also only set for release in Japan for PS2 so far.
Will both of these come to the US on PS2. No one knows, although I would bet that they will. If you want to be sure to play ToS, then you have only one option unless you speak Japanese and own a compatbile PS2.
Looks like a bunch of you beat me to it.

It has not been announced for a US PS2 realease, but due to the high sales for it, I wouldn't be suprised if they did port it over to the PS2.
IMO the only reason they released it for the cube exclusively in the 1st place was to gain an extra sales foothold because the cube market has no recent RPG competitors. They were afraid it wouldn't sell well on the PS2 because the other Tales titles never did too well here and there was so much potential competition on the field.

Thats a pretty good theory on why they released it on the Cube, makes sense to me.

This deal is for the GameCube version of Tales of Symphonia at Overstock.com. If you want to discuss the POSSIBILITY of TOS coming to PS2 in the U.S., why not move that over to the Playstation forum.

I'd also jump all over this but I don't have a GC either. I did get to try it out @ a friends house and it was great! Read that its easily an 70+ hour RPG so its well worth it but if you don't have a GC, Star Ocean 3 comes out on PS2 August 31st and its battle system is suppose to be awesome!

Add shipping to that price, and there's not much difference from retail prices.

I really liked the game. I payed $40 for a copy at Toys R' Us (using that $10 coupon from way back) and it was a good investment. It's got a really fun combat system that I'd say is quite a bit like the fighting in Super Smash Bros. Melee. I didn't like it as much as Final Fantasy X or Xenosaga, but it's still a very good RPG that is well worth buying.
