LOL. I didn't steal your idea :) it's just that great minds think alike! I've been planning on this for a while now, but it's a bit of a Catch-22. I can grow my business a lot by automating things, but by doing so I'll make the system a bit robotic and less personal at the same time. I just have to find the right balance between the two.

At the moment I think I will run the system in another sort of BETA test. I'm not going to give myself a time table though because I know how awful I am at following any sort of schedule. I just tend to work best when I go with the flow :)

You guys will definitely be the first to know though. It's not at all impossibly hard to write the code really, the issue is that I want to do it right and as bug-free as possible. Thanks for your support though ^_^ Any and all feedback is always appreciated (even when it's negative).

I am working on something even better than automated invoices to be honest with you. It will work something like this:

1) You go to my Direct Request page (just like now) and fill it out like normal.
2) After you submit it will show you a summary of the order you want and ask you if you want to add additional items. If you do, then it will give you a chance to fill in more. You can add as many as you want.
3) Once you are done entering items, a summary page will show on the screen and give you a chance to verify it.
4) If you agree, then you will say OK and it will show a virtual invoice with an estimate of all costs, shipping and fees.
5) The page will give you a chance to pay right away with full payment instructions. GFC members (those who use direct payments/direct funds) will be given a discount equal to about 6%, and those who use a credit card will pay the standard fees as normal.
6) The page will generate a unique page for you to check out. If you aren't ready to pay right away, then you can come back to it (a link will be Emailed to you to return to) and only you can check out there. If you don't buy the items, then there's nothing else to worry about. It will clear out of the system in about a week or two and I won't have to worry about anything as it's all behind-the-scenes.
7) If for some reason your item needs special attention or you wish to contact me directly about it and do it traditionally, then you will have a link on there to do that.

How's that sound? That's my goal. I hope to have a system like this by the end of summer. We'll see ;)

I just logged into their new site and they had a problem with my address (only recognized me as having a 4 digit zip code, when I have 5, so I just had to delete my account and make a new one). Yeah, I wish more of you guys were interested in Nocturne when I had like 15 copies of it :) I ended up selling them at a loss on eBay just to get rid of my stock. Bummer ^_^;; Oh well. PuppetYuber, Here's some info about Gamestop.com:

1) They charge 6% Sales Tax since they have a presence in my state
2) Their new items are often perfectly packed and come in excellent condition (no stickers, markings, etc.)
3) Used games often are disc only (occasionally you get lucky), but the good thing is that if you get one in crappy condition or without a case/manual you can always return it to a local store for a full refund, so in that sense it's practically risk free.
4) Shipping is free often when you use the SAVER code, though it doesn't always work.

** IMPORTANT UPDATE **

I just wanted to let you know guys, I have NO problem with you ordering items yourself and having them sent to my house or my work address for delivery. This may be easier for you rather than sending me a direct request each time (I am working on a form that will let you modify your Direct Requests and add multiple items, but it won't be ready till the middle of Summer at least).

RoganSarine, it doesn't matter what funds you have. You can send USD even if you only have CAD...Paypal does the transfer on the fly :) That's just how they roll. Also, sometimes the money does clear earlier than Paypal estimates just so you know.

RoganSarine, it's actually not the same for thtree reasons:

1) If you send the money as CAD I pay a fee upfront
2) When I go to transfer the money from CAD to USD, I am charged a fee a second time, so it actually adds up to more than just sending USD to me directly
3) The USD to CAD ratio is always changing, so it is entirely possible that you send me CAD and when I go to change it over, it's worth less than it was when you sent it.

For the reasons I have a strict USD only policy. This is why I'm allowing people to order items themselves and have them shipped to my house if they're worried about Paypal fees and all that nonsense :)

You can pay now if you have money left over, or later. Whatever works for you. Thanks!

I actually have one in stock that is right here in front of me (and on my digital scale oddly enough). It weighs about 7 pounds and can be shipped to Canada for $30.00 USD Priority Mail + $2.00 for insurance. As for customs, you usually don't have to pay as long as it is marked $45 USD or lower. Of course, if you have insurance then you'll have to mark it at full value in order to be fully insured.

Let me know (I am about to list mine on eBay in an hour). If you want it then I will sell it to you at actual price, no markup plus shipping and such. It was used only once to test it out for less than 20 minutes total. I can show you pics :) Thanks!

Goomba, I am a little puzzled on a series of events for my package. Okay, here's the deal.

I ordered the following:

RE: Umbrella Chronicles
Valkryia Chronicles
Mortal Kombat Collection
Devil May Cry Collection

Now... This is the part that confuses me.

Firstly, you told me you sent my package.

Afterwards, you mentioned that you sent everything BUT valkryia chronicles because since I was waiting for my paypal money to clear you thought I wasn't paying for it and sold it on Games for Canada (Which while I did post updates everyday that I'm still waiting, I can understand due to the bunch of requests and shams you receive)... Thus, you made me pay $7 more.

However, today I recieved my package with great puzzlement... Valkryia Chronicles was in it. How is that even possible if I paid that a week or two after I paid and you said my package was shipped. Even more puzzling, neither of the collections I paid for were in there- I assume either because you forgot or you shipped it seperately to fit in the packaging.

So, I'm a little confused.

I paid an additionally $7 USD for Valkryia Chronicles that was already sent? Did you mix me up with someone else?

And then my collections are no where to be found.

I'm in no worry or rush or anything... but what's up with this?

By the way, my paypal money is still set to clear on the first monday in june.

1) I originally had all your items packed into a single box ready to go out, but I was waiting for your payment.

2) After you hadn't paid the first week or so, I thought maybe you were going to cancel on the order so I had kept your games on the side and the opened copy of Valkyria Chronicles that I had for you sold on my GFC site.

3) After you ended up paying me so I had re-packed all your items and got them ready to ship out.

4) You told me that you still wanted Valkyria Chronicles, but I realized I didn't have any more opened copies so I asked if you wanted a new one, and you said you did. I ordered it for you and it came next day miraculously in the mail to me.

5) I was able to slip it into the package, and shipped the collection games separately as they were heavier and I didn't want you to incur any customs fees.

So in summary: I was ready to send out your items the first time but when you told me you wanted Valkyria Chronicles, I canceled the original sending and repacked it. Hope that makes sense :) I'm glad you got your first package. The next one should be there any day now hopefully. I shipped them out the same time.

It depends telepathy. I usually try to mark items under $45 if they are not really expensive and I break up items into separate packages if I think you'll have to pay customs fees. Look for some light cheap PVC piping, it's cheaper/better than any cardboard poster tube you'll find anywhere ;) The only downside is you need to cut it down to size, but they should have saws there.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know there is a good chance that I will be making it up to Canada between June 14th-17th. Setite, Great news my friend! I mailed out your SMT: Devil Summoner 2, Demikids & Xenosaga II and was able to add insurance at the USPS Post Office just like the website said. The insurance is more expensive than the Endicia insurance, but as I mentioned Endicia no longer will insure to Russia (unfortunately). It was $4.40 to insure $130 (the $4.40 covers up to $200 and I believe it is $1.00 for each additional hundred or something like that). So if you want to buy a PS3, then the good news is we can fully insure it :)

As of now the majority of 20GB PS3's are selling for around $300 USD on eBay. Not sure if that's outside of your range or not, but I know you want one that is backwards compatible :) Let me know. Thanks my friend!

LOL it's all good. Toronto, if anything, seems like a nice small (by Asian standards anyway) city with nice people, good food and some fun places. It's a lot cleaner than most cities I know of and I had a really good time the first 2-3 times I went there so I'm hoping going to enjoy it. This will be my first time in Montreal and Quebec City though so I'm also looking forward to that :) Who knows, maybe some day when GFC gets huge I'll have a tour of sorts. A Goomba can dream ^_^

Because of this, I will no longer be staying overnight in Quebec City, but we may go there just to check it out for the day as it's only a few hours away.

06/15/2009 - We plan to spend the majority of the day in Montreal and later in the day head over to Toronto and hopefully stay in the hotel we did last time (with hotel points). It's in a good location near the subway so it's convenient enough and we'll probably eat dinner in Chinatown at a Sichuan restaurant (Liu Liu Hot Pot perhaps?)

I love Blu-Rays to death =P Unfortunately, my TV is having problems again (they just switched the HDMI board when it had the audio problem and now it has no audio or video with the new board...sucks!). In the meantime Component cables do the trick, though I miss my HDMI (even if the difference isn't noticeable with all forms of media).

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you can give me insight on something. I'm going to Canada next week as you may know, but what I don't know is this: Can I open a bank account in Canada as a US Citizen? I am pretty sure it's possible, but I'd love to hear what you think (or know) about this subject.

What bank would you recommend? Ultimately, I'd like one with a debit card available and preferably no fees. The thing is, I want to sell on Amazon.ca (and already have now) but I didn't realize they only disburse to Canadian accounts...doh! I could swear in the past they sent to US banks too.

I'm with PC Financial (similar to CIBC) and there are no fees at all, but transfer times are slowww (having a cheque clear takes 5 business, I don't know if that's the norm or not). You can withdraw money from any CIBC teller, or a teller at a Loblaws store, without being charged any transaction fees. The online banking is pretty simple and straight-forward as well, and the interest rates on the savings accounts are pretty competitive!

I'll second the PC Financial recommendation.. they are a "no frills" mostly online bank. All the major banks with large branch networks have pretty high monthly/transaction fees. They do offer debit cards, but if you're going to use them outside of Canada it'll probably be a few dollars per transaction.

I'm not sure what Americans would need to open an account though, your best bet is to call them up and ask.

My wife had no trouble last time with her Chinese Passport and US Green Card, but I just wanted to make sure. I know they recently changed the rule requiring US citizens to have a passport. I've never been to British Columbia either. I was thinking of doing Vancouver perhaps or even Nova Scotia, but BC could be fun too. If I had more people interested in meeting up (like a CAG/GFC gettogether) then I'd be all for it. I just need to confirm it will fit the new iPhone 3GS. I want a case for it and my dad has one of these for his blackberry and it's cool. They want $50USD for shipping to Canada so GFC seemed like a good option. I just need to research more to confirm it will fit before I drop the coin on it.

According to the Apple conference and unveiling of the 3GS they said that it would be the same dimensions as the 3G, so I take that to mean yes it should absolutely fit into all 3G cases and such. It's up to you, but if you want it, I'm your guy :) Thanks again Magiic!

I imagine it adds a good deal of bulk. The one for the blackberry my dad has adds quite a bit. It does however provide perfect protection for the device. His blackberry still looks brand new when you take it out of the case. He is a contractor and as such his phones tend to take a lot of abuse.
