Hey there Rogan, the debt and the loan are two different things. Let me explain :)

1) I have a lot of debt, that won't go away with owning the house but will change is that I'll be gaining equity in the house instead of throwing it away on a small apartment. That and I'll have a lot more room, a basement, an attic, an extra bedroom ... not to mention a 2-car garage and a yard/driveway. Having a house will also allow me in the future to refinance my cars/credit cards to get better interest rates and such.

2) The $2000 is for the actual down payment. We have been approved for a different loan (the CHFA which turned us down is based on percentages where the other one is based on our income) so we're approved for the second kind. Unfortunately, it requires a slightly higher down payment...hence the donation drive ^_^;;

I'm doing my best in the next 6 weeks to sell just about everything I own that I no longer use (including tons of games and gaming accessories). I'm figuring out where I'll get the most for the money (usually eBay but not always) and listing hundreds of items in various lowball sales (including dv8's huge one where I have 90 items or so). Hope that makes sense ^_^

Well game_fanatic, as I understand it you only have to pay $2.00 shipping as far as you are obliged on the auction. If it costs much more then the seller has the right to ask you to pay it, and if you don't want to then I think you can nullify the bid pretty much. The only exceptions are again for items weighing more than say 6-8 oz. (typical game weight). game_fanatic, yeah I think dv8mad has said in the past it's really up to the sellers. But most of them know the rules when they list the items, so it shouldn't be much of a problem to work out something with them. Many of us sellers simply need to unload all of these games and items that we stockpile, so if they make a little bit or come out practically even some won't even complain. Of course some are flipping and hoping to make money, but that's risky anyhow.

preelude, just so you know I always use sniping programs (that bid on the last second automatically) so whenever you tell me your max price that's what I put into my program. If we win, then you pay what you won the item for and if we lose I refund you in full (no risk there!). We were outbid anyway so my sniping program didn't kick in. Please remember to try and give 24 hours notice for eBay items to ensure enough time to invoice and all that fun stuff :)

jeffx, yes people charge whatever they want on eBay for each item. So you just look at what the person charges to ship to the USA. The best thing to do is buy from buyers who offer free shipping to the USA :) Also, if they charge more than $4.00 per game you can report them as it's against eBay policy these days.

Oh okay well shipping to Canada is different (duh!) I forgot about that for a second :) Shipping to the USA I meant is limited to $4.00 per game. There are ways around it of course (you can do calculated shipping for instance and say the game weighs 10 pounds if you want to, or you can add in a handling fee of as much as you want) but doing so I still believe is a reportable offense if the seller has no reason to charge so much (for instance the game doesn't come with a Wii Fit balance board, a multi-DVD bonus set or something that would make it heavier/more costly to ship).

But yeah, it's a US restriction mostly. I think sellers can charge whatever they want internationally. Sorry for the confusion on that one :)

Just so you know, this past Monday (yesterday) was Labor Day here in the US. It's a federal holiday which means banks, post offices and almost all stores were closed. Well the set has a looot of archived footage, and it's presented in 1080i, not 1080p, so it's not breathtaking by any stretch, but it's no slouch, either! It's definitely a set you buy for the content as opposed to the sound/video quality.

Goomba, just received everything but Origins today -- just in time for my heavy load of classes starting (introductory days over).

The case also has an extremely tight fit, but it fits (atleast it's snug). It's kind of funny considering I do need my extended battery to get that safety snug fit.

The only thing I'm weary of is I may scratch the corner of the battery (but the battery goes away anyway when it's dead) because of the rounded corners.

Anyway, everything was in great condition as always although, the popped air bag was an odd touch. I assume that was the xacto knife barrier?

From what I've seen the sticks are still being sold for $100+ tax here which comes out to roughly $115. With the U.S. dollar almost at par you would absolutely save money by buying from that sale.

** GFC Daily Update ** [Rather Lengthy tonight]

Okay guys, as promised I am now 100% Caught up on all Direct Requests. Notice I said DIRECT Requests. If you put in orders through PMs, Emails or other means of communication then chances are your message was buried somehow, lost in the wayside or simply put into my SPAM folder. There's a reason I use Direct Requests. It gives me a verifiable record of the order and it's easy for me to see which ones came in what order, who they came from and they are easy to attach to my Quickbooks records (and Paypal records as well). You have no idea how much record-keeping this side job of mine entails ^_^

In any case, like I said I'm 100% caught up on DR's now so you either received an invoice from me, or your message was missed (if so please re-submit a DR). As usual, all invoices I send are valid for 7 days and then they will be expunged from my system. If a particular game/deal is still available after the 7 days, you can always re-submit a new DR with the same order information and I will generate a new invoice for you.

As for the shipping side of things, I just received nearly 30 items in today. The Post Office closes on Saturday really early (12 Noon) and is closed on Sundays, so this means I will be packing nearly all items this weekend and shipping them out first thing Monday. Keep an eye out for Emails from GFC letting you know your item has been shipped/prepared to ship and the GYRO update will be tomorrow night and Sunday to show ALL statuses of all items. Lots of orders (almost 50 simultaneously! WOW) so you can imagine I've been busy. How can you make a debit payment without an eCheck? :S

Debit cards are treated exactly like credit cards. eChecks are treated like personal checks, so there is a difference. My account can technically accept anything, there are just penalties and fees to accept debit cards and such on a personal account (up to 7% opposed to the normal 3.9% + $0.30 fee). So it's a mess to figure out, but blame Paypal. They like to purposely make it confusing I think to make more in fees from people.

I would rate Goomba's service as excellent. I placed an order for the Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds CD (the amazon.com seller doesn't ship to Canada) on August 27th. I got a very friendly and personable shipping notice on Sept 05. And it arrived today, very carefully wrapped in bubble wrap. Attached to the bubble wrap was a hand-lettered note that said "I hope you love this Distant Worlds CD. I love Final Fantasy Music as well. ^_^" followed by a signature. How cool is that! The CD was in perfect condition, with no damage even to the jewel case. I found his price to be very reasonable as well.

Well I have good news and bad news. The good news first: I got your Halo 3: ODST (Xbox 360) and was the first person in line outside of my local Toys ‘R Us. I had to drive almost half an hour to get there, and it turns out the hours posted on the website were wrong (they opened at 10:00 instead of 9:30 AM) so I ended up waiting another 25 minutes for them to open the store. Now the bad news: They got in the Halo 3 Figures, but didn’t take them off the truck. After waiting another 30 minutes in the store for the manager to get them from the back, they ended up giving me a rain-check/IOU and said they’d call me tonight when they find the figures. So I should (in theory) still get the figure. They took my name and number, but I’m not 100% sure they have their act together.

In any case I got your game and Gift Card. I SHOULD be getting your figure too J Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go eat breakfast and get a coffee lol. That was exhausting J Thanks again for your support!

hey goomba, given you're interaction with us Canucks, do you have much information on how Canadians are able to take advantage of the Netflix streaming service? From what I can tell, you need a) a US XBL account (I'd just buy another Xbox 360 w/ a 12-month XBL card) and b) a credit card with a US mailing address (I'd buy one of those pre-paid Mastercards and use you address to cover that end, assuming it works with you); are there any other hoops to jump through, do you know? game_fanatic, as I understand it the Xbox Netflix used to work with just any US account, but I am pretty sure CheapyD said on the CAGcast that he is no longer able to stream (I believe they now check by IP). I think the only way around it is to use internet proxies to make it look like you're in the USA, but I'm not 100% sure about that. I'm sure there are more knowledgeable people about this issue.

Let me know if you learn more. I'd be happy to get you an Xbox Live card (though I'm out of the super cheap ones right now). I'm sure it can be done. Just not sure how much effort it involves. Get back to you if I learn anything else.

telepathy, no problem. Like I said, I will be spending the ENTIRE day Thursday at home while they install my electric heating for my apartment. This means I will be 100% caught up with all your guys orders, invoices, etc. The backlog of orders is insane right now because a lot of people have been ordering items ahead of time (Pre-Orders) or asking me to hold onto items while they wait to combine shipments. So it was rather crazy this month :)

** BANK QUESTION **

Hey guys, I asked this about 6 months ago but I haven't had a lot of success. When I was in Toronto I went to a local HSBC bank and tried to open an account, but they told me it was Canadian citizens and foreign students only (with letters proving why they were there, etc.). Since I didn't have that they wouldn't let me open an account.

I really need to get a Canadian bank account because I want to sell on Amazon.ca (and actually have in the past and have a couple hundred CAD dollars in my account). The problem is that they only disburse to Canadian bank accounts (unlike in the US where you can get other payment methods). Do any of you know how I can get a Canadian bank account online? I just tried signing up with RBC and it had sections for US citizens, but it also mentioned that I may need to apply in person (which means another trip to Canada) and if they turn me down ... well that'd be a huge waste of time and money.

Anyone know? If any of you are up for it, I wouldn't mind partnering up with one of you to have my funds deposited to your account and just have you send me the money via Paypal. I'd of course compensate you. Obviously I'd only do that with someone I've had a lot of past transactions with, so you old-time GFC buyers please let me know if you'd consider that. Thanks!

There are probably regulations that don't allow people who aren't living in Canada from opening bank accounts. I know Canada is stricter with banks than the US.
