Haha that's one of the best 3D animated movies ever (and the first full-length featured one to boot). Did you know they are re-releasing them in theatres next week in 3D (as in with the glasses and all) for the first time? They're only going to be in theatres for 2 weeks though (Toy Story 1 & 2!) so be sure to see them. I can't wait! I'm such a Pixar-junkie =P

spike32, yeah I do occasionally sleep (not by choice, but such is life). I live very closely to the old saying "I'll sleep when I'm dead". Since I'm a poker dealer by trade, my hours change day-to-day. So for instance tomorrow I work at 11:30 which means I have to leave my house by 10:45 AM, which means I have to get up at 9:00. So I figure I like to sleep 7 hours, so I go to sleep at 2AM. It sounds nuts, but it makes sense :) It's a lot better than when I only got 4 hours at my old job ^_^;;

I figure if I work my butt off to keep busy, then when I do eventually pay off my bills (still roughly 6 years off) life will seem so ridiculously easy =P I'll get there!

I am a 2D animation fanatic first and foremost, but there's no arguing the beauty of Wall-E, the humor of Up or the ground-breaking history that the Toy Story movies made. I'm currently trying to collect all Disney DVDs and Blu-Rays and doing a pretty good job so far. I just wish they'd hurry up and release Blu-Rays of movies like "The Lion King". I know Disney loves to milk their franchises, but I have a feeling it'll take me like 30 years to get them all in HD lol.

I have yet to see UP still surprisingly. I didn't say as much as i hate to admit it because it's animation, but because it's american animation for such a bastard company. I do prefer the Japanese Anime although as of late, they haven't come out with much that's any good. I'm also a voice acting fanatic, like I can tell all the anime dub voice actors because it's a small community so it does piss me off when Disney grabs things like Spirited Away or Ponyo or anything made by Hayao Miyazaki. Although it does bring exposure to the anime world I guess.

You really have to see "UP". I saw it opening day (again because I am a Pixar nut) but it was 10x better than I expected. The theatre was literally laughing from start to finish (it has so many great parts) and the animation is of course top notch as well. It's by far the most heart-touching and "real" of the Pixar movies if you were to ask me. I do prefer Anime series to American ones typically as well, though there are a lot of great traditional 2D movies here in the US (and not many 3D Japanese ones yet). I don't think it's a bad thing Disney brings Miyazaki movies to the US, because it really brings them to a bigger audience (though I always watch them in their native Japanese first before seeing them in English). The English versions for those were done pretty well, though I will always prefer the original language dubs of course.

Ponyo was really simple (story-wise) but the hand-drawn animation in that is mind-blowing. The waves alone in the ocean are enough to give an animator nightmares lol. I have no idea how they created that movie. It's absolutely astonishingly gorgeous. This has been a fantastic year for animation!

I definitely have to see both of those movies. Tbh, I don't watch subs very much unless the dub is horrid, in the last 10 years I've found that dubs have gotten much better and the team of dubbers is constantly used, but honestly, so is the japanese cast. Therefore, I have not watched Ponyo yet (it wasn't in theaters in Canada, neither was Eureka Seven Movie :bomb:) Although Princess Mononoke will probably always be my fav Miyazaki movie just because the animation is great and the story is superb.

spike32, dubs aren't the end of the world. My problem with most anime dubs is that they re-write the scripts (which I hate) or cut out parts or remove some of the original Japanese humor/play on words etc. or make unnecessary American references and things. Oh and I hate that almost all the animes from one company will use the same voice actors over and over. Most dubs tend to lack the same enthusiasm and genuine feel in the characters voices, but I will say they have definitely improved with time.

Ponyo was hard to find in theatres here too, but I got a copy of the retail European DVD release which has the original Japanese with English subs. Nice!

I agree Princess Mononoke is a masterpiece though my favorite Miyazaki is still Spirited Away probably. It's hard to say though and my choice would probably change on which day of the week it was ^_^ You'll enjoy Ponyo! It's by far the simplest of the stories of his recent movies, but it has a lot of pure joy and some incredible animation to boot. Definitely get it on Blu-Ray when it's out. ;)

Gah I hate you with your tactics making me want to see the movie more. At least with the dub vs sub issue you didn't say the dub mouth flaps don't fit, because it was shown that dubs put more care into that than subs. Although yes, even a dub voice actor said that they put more care into emotions than making sure the mouth flaps fit. Although most anime voice actors do the voices for japanese games now which I like anyways.

The best thing about Spirited Away was the giant baby or the old witch shooting a hadoken, sure she didn't yell it out, but c'mon you know it was ;)

I have actually met the voice actor (Crispin Freeman) for Prince Turnip in Howl's Moving Castle, I met him about a month ago. Got him to sign my Wolf's Rain Boxset, Naruto UNS, and Scrapped Princess Boxset. Don't know if you're familiar with Wolf's Rain or SP but they're good series. I should've gotten him to sign my Advent Children Complete bluray I got from you, but I didn't think I'd get a chance to see him since he wasn't there till later therefore I didn't bring it :(

Whoa that's awesome! Howl's Moving Castle was another great one (man Miyazaki and Ghibli sure know how to make good animated movies!). game_fanatic, I definitely don't think you should go with Priority Mail. Ship them in a padded cardboard container first class and you'll get them only 2-3 days slower (and save a lot) but in case you're wondering it is $19.00 USD to mail a one pound (estimated shipping weight for the PSone games) to Canada. For first class mail you're looking at only $6.50. You decide ;)

RoganSarine, I generally pay $2.53 for the actual mail cost and round it to $3.00 to pay for the envelope and gas to the post office. Envelopes (padded bubble mailers cost about $1.00 or so each) but I buy them in bulk (250-500 at a time). Hope that helps.

Well the thing is that you need delivery confirmation if you pay for any shipping online (they require it), but it is as you say: the tracking stops at the US border. Sometimes it will show that it's been received by customs, but that's rare. With Priority Shipping it generally will say the item has been delivered, but that's about it. It's not by any stretch of the imagination "tracking". I don't know why the USPS and Canada Post can't collaborate to get good tracking between the countries for first class mail, but oh well :) Good luck!

Jest, I cancelled your order. No problem. The invoices are definitely NOT auto-generated (trust me, I wish they were). I use pre-typed templates for the copy but I have to manually add in all the items one by one into Quickbooks and the Emails' numbers and info has to be typed in one-by-one. Each invoice takes a minimum of 30 minutes on average (lots of work). But it's all worth it. Oh and yes, I still have two copies of SF IV for both systems if you want one. $25 USD shipped to Canada for either system. Let me know before they go to eBay!

Firestorm and others, I didn't even know that the rumored PS3 re-release of Resident Evil 5 was official. Looks like I missed a day or two of gaming updates and missed that. That's a big one. Yeah, Capcom LOVES sequels :) Look at how many SFII's there were (not to mention Mega Mans). I think I've heard that there are over 100 versions of Mega Man games in total. I personally wouldn't be surprised if it was closer to 200. They love milking franchises (but we're all guilty for loving them so much...they're just too good =P).

Yeah I know, that's what irks me because I should have known better than to trust the price drops of a capcom game (usually resulting in a re-release).

This is why I stayed away from getting SF4 at $25 (that and a fighting game doesn't really give me a story or anything besides gameplay, so keeping it on my shelf to rot until I clear my backlog isn't very enticing).

The question I wonder is will there be any way to play cooperatively with someone who has the original version if I have the alternative version? I don't like the idea of splitting userbase, and that I just bought RE5 from Goomba. I guess I could give it to my brother provided that the game is re-released at a discounted price instead of $60 again for 1 chapter and motion control (please sony?), but it'd be nice if we could play together (and if we did... the game skips the new chapter or something).

I was just going to co-op the game through with my friend too, but we are interested in Sony's Motion Controller, so now I may wait to co-op it with him when the alternative edition comes out leaving the game I ordered from Goomba useless.

In the end, I wanted to co-op the game, and I really wanted to play the game, but I don't likely have time to play through the game twice.

I normally wouldn't care, but since this online thing happened... The re-releases butcher capcoms install base -- that's what makes me hope they arn't completely stupid even though I know they are sometimes.

I still think a downloadable patch for 50% retail (or even 75% retail) would make them WAY more money than a retail release. Or better yet, both?

goomba, yeah you should get rid of those Street Fighters fast too as Super Street Fighter IV was also announced =p RE5: AV was announced at Sony's TGS Conference.

RoganSarine, I think the retail release would do better than DLC due to the timing actually. They'll be launching alongside Sony's Motion Controller and it looks to be the only non-minigame collection launching with it at this point. It should see a nice sales bump from the motion controller launch and free advertising from Sony.

RoganSarine, I think the retail release would do better than DLC due to the timing actually. They'll be launching alongside Sony's Motion Controller and it looks to be the only non-minigame collection launching with it at this point. It should see a nice sales bump from the motion controller launch and free advertising from Sony.


True, but how many people will actually re-buy the game (assuming they havnt sold it) if they've already played and beat 95% of it? Also, how many of these people are part of Sony's fan base? A lot of people probably won't invest in the controller if there is only 1 game, and a lot of people probably won't drop $40 for a game that has 1 extra chapter, only to pay probably an extra $40 for the controller. I still see the bearer to entry only worthwhile if the game is $40 and bundled with the motion sensing controller; otherwise, I still believe a DLC pack charged at $20 or $25 would sell a lot better (especially in the case of the 360).

They need to have a low bearer to entry if Sony has any intension of making the controller investment they have worth it (which they probably don't), and making everyone drop $80 for the same game probably won't float anyones boat.

The nice thing about RE4 is that it was an original RE in that vein, and that each re-release (especially the wii) was moderately far from each other. Also, at the time, the wii was a gimmick the hardcore wanted to try. I think all the gimmickyness of a motion controller has worn out at this point; although, I always have hope for a motion controller that has good game support.

If you dont think you can find 3 games, look harder. If you think you'll have trouble picking just 3 games, then go for 6 or maybe more (in increments of 3). It makes getting certain games seem more worthwhile since some of them never have sales.

Here's the thing....Yes, I can get these. The thing is if you are asking me to buy them in-store chances are the good games will be taken by the time I get there. If you want me to buy online, that's a lot more possible.

2 things to remember: 1) My state (and all stores in my state online or not) charge 6% Sales Tax. 2) I will more than likely be able to get at least some of the games you want. The best thing to do would be to pre-pay me an estimate of what you want. This way I will have the money on hand when the sale is live. As always, if I can't get the games you want I will refund you in full 100%.

So for example (Toys 'R Us charges for shipping, let's say like $8.00 per group of 3 games. It's very close to actual charges from TRU):

3 games at $60 MSRP:
$60 + 60 + $0.00 = $120 (Cost of B2G1 games at $60 each)
$120 x + $8.00 (Price of games plus shipping) = $128.00
$128 x 1.06 (Cost of games and shipping with 6% Tax added) = $136.00 to USA
$136 (Cost of 3 games in above example) + $4.00 (GFC Service Charge) + $8.50 (Estimated shipping for 3 games in example) = $148.50

So you would save: $190.80 (MSRP with tax for 3 $60 games) - $148.50 = $42.30 USD SAVED

1) There is no way to check what they will have (in store if that's what you're asking). Online I expect they should have almost everything in stock at the beginning and will likely go out of stock quickly. TRU is not like Gamestop...once they run out of stock for certain titles, they almost never re-stock or re-stock very little. I do very little shopping with them for this reason (and the fact they charge for shipping...boo). Their sales are legendary though :)

2) What games do I consider good? Oh wow, that's so hard to figure out. I play so few games these days between working, doing my artwork, web design and of course GFC. The only game I'm really, really playing right now is Muramasa (I LOVE that game) and you already have that one coming lol. I think your list has a lot of great games personally. Oh and for the record I'm typically like at least two system generations behind on games lol so I'm not really up to date with games, even if I read obsessively about all the new titles, I typically play them 2-3 years after they're out at minimum lol.

Absolutely Jest, though it's not actually a PO Box. It's an actual mailing address (since many stores do not ship to PO Box addresses). I pay yearly for a business shipping address with a UPS Store. There are three simple rules though:

1) You have to send a Direct Request to let me know what you are shipping there and approximate date it will arrive (I check my UPS store once a week as packages there more than 7 days cost me $1.00 USD per day).

2) You agree to pay $1.00 additional for each box sent to my UPS store as I have to pay to use the account.

3) You will have to ship it in my name and my name only (not even C/O: Your name) because the owners of the UPS store are very strict about this. I had to sign papers that say they can legally sign for my packages, but if any peoples names appear other than my own, they will refuse them. Since you have already let me know in the DR that you have shipped to the store, I will know who to credit them to and will send an invoice for shipping to Canada once I get your items. Make sense?

I'm thinking for now though it's probably best to keep my Slim and just maybe buy some of the sale games (like the ones from NIS right now) since the older PSPs can still download all the same content. Unless you think your PSP-2000 is WAY too big (maybe you have small pockets? :lol: ), I don't think the PSP Go is worth it at all, especially considering you can get a freakin' PS3 for 50 bucks more. You're essentially getting a device you already have, but which can't do as much. I'd stick with my PSP-2000 and get $250 worth of PSP games/downloads!

Well I already have a PS3, and I don't have real issue with the PSP size. It is bigger than I would like, but I'm thinking the PSP Go has some unique things (like bluetooth and the fact that you can control it with a PS3 controller as far as I understand it? Actually, while the bluetooth is great... You know the limiting factor that isn't the pricepoint? They put freaking Wireless B in it -- not G (the standard right now), or N (the new generation stuff)... Wireless B... The slowest stuff that's on the market that is still supported.

Why put this in a PSP that is at premium price and requires digital everything?! To make downloads excrutiatingly long? Dumbest cut back they could have made. I, however, don't know the current PSP wireless mode, but they should have made the PSPGo atleast G.

Yeah Wireless B sucks, for sure, but then again my current PSP has Wireless B and I would be downloading the games more than likely through my PS3 anyhow. I just tested it out by the way and downloaded my first ever full PSP game on my current PSP (which for the record was dead since I haven't charged it in nearly a year or more) and got: Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero (which again, I already own but am considering to sell considering it's only $9.99 as a download title). Good test run.

Sure, Sony is ripping people off. It should have 32GB probably, Wireless-N and even maybe a second analog nub. It should work with existing non-proprietary USB charge cables and have a replaceable battery, but you know they're just hoping to reel people in with the snazzy-must-own-the-best-electronics-the-day-they-come-out crowd and will lower the price to $199.99 if sales suck (which I expect they will for a while). This is obviously a pull by Sony to get people to stop pirating PSP games (which I'm proud to say I never did) and to simultaneously battle used-game sales (which for PSP don't seem like much of a factor anyhow). As many have said, it's probably to test a lot of features for a rumored PSP2 that will no doubt come out some day.

You know what makes sense? This whole proprietary download thing and the lack of calling it the PSP2. Why not just deem it the PSP2 anyway?

If a system can no longer play the "current generation" games, why not just beef up the processor, RAM, etc. ab bit in the thing, put in the second nub, and everything (including wireles N) else to make it the hardcore handheld? Personally, I wish they'd also put in a better battery than the go... my PSp extended battery last quite awhile.

The DS definitely isn't the hardcore handheld, and with the second nub, they would be able to make more hardcore games that control better and can try to grasp that market.

This way people would stop complaining it can't play their old UMD games to the same degree, the price would be justifiable (I swear if the 2nd nub was on it people should shut up about the price a lot more readily), and they could STILL offer the PSP games on the PSN network for the initial launch and for future launches but just give developers more to play with.

Even if they didn't beef the system specs, but added that 2nd nub and the wireless G (atleast)...

Heck, they're even marketing it like the PSP2 with the whole "lets make people believe they NEED the go because it can download things the PSP can't".

By the way, I just got my ECA membership... Can I generate codes for you to use (I havn't looked into how this works), or do I have to order them myself (somehow...? can I use a canadian credit card on amazon.com?) and ship it to your UPS account?

You know what Rogan, you're right though. They should have just made the PSP2 and nobody'd complain (though I'm not sure I agree about the DS not being a system for the hardcore...there are a LOT of incredible games on the DS/DS Lite/DSi platform, though I know where you're coming from).

As for ECA, I believe it's best for you to order the items yourself with your ECA account as they limit the codes to one per customer per 24 hour period (use them wisely) and as I understand it, you can buy a few games at once and get the 10% for all of them if they are ordered together. That being said they definitely frown upon giving other people the codes, so I think you'd have to order for yourself and have it shipped to my UPS account. I'm pretty sure Canadian credit cards will work but not 100%. If not, then let me know and we can work out something. I have to go to work but I'll talk to you soon!

In case you guys are wondering why I did this as a partial GYROS update, the answer is simple: It takes a LOT of time to do these updates so it's easier for me to spend more time on actually shipping items which I've been doing. Since my jobs have oddly required me to work extra hours (when I expected to have my hours cut) this week in particular was nutty, but my wife is working late shift for the next two weeks which means I'll have the entire home to myself and should catch up on all shipping of orders and she'll be home in the daytime to accept packages as well.

If you want specific updates on your order feel free to ask. I will be soon moving the GYROS update as a permanent section on the actual GFC website but have not done so yet because I want to make it member-only (meaning you'll have to log in to see it, so that it's not viewable by complete strangers). In the future I can restrict it to give you the option to hide your updates to others if you want but that won't be available till early 2010 probably. Oh i remember him, he's the one who organizes the lowball stuff. I wish him good luck on his paying off his debts (i read the blog post). telepathy, yeah I agree. I wasn't saying it was repetitive. I've just heard a lot of other people claim that it was or that the fighting was flawed. For me it's the perfect mix of side-scroller/action/beat-em-up/RPG and I love it to bits. As for auctions, as far as I know he can probably bid on things like Yahoo Japan auctions and what not. Yup definitely. Things from Japan are NOT cheap, but there are some truly unique things you can't find anywhere else (not to mention really unique gaming items). So if you play your cards right then you can get some really awesome things for a lot less than a trip to Japan or paying through the nose on game import sites or eBay. dv8mad is the man :)

RoganSarine, Insurance claims totally depend on where they got it from. Typically you have to wait 10-15 days minimum for claims. If the item is cheap enough the company typically will give the money faster. If the item was improperly packed though the insurance company typically won't cover it (there are a lot of small restrictions like this in the fine print of most insurance policies). Also, what game is this? Just curious. PS3 Blu-Ray discs are nearly invincible (one of the reasons I often buy PS3 version over Xbox if the games are virtually identical). Let me know :) And insurance doesn't cover shipping costs to my knowledge so sending it back wouldn't help much. Let me know what game it is, I'm curious!

It looks worse on the other side -- the plastic is broken directly down the spine also, it can't close since the snap things are busted, the whole entire plate behind the disc is smashed, the the front plastic that holds the game art is basically cut. It's almost as if someone intentionally tried to break it.

The instructions and disc are fine, so it isn't really THAT big of a deal, I just want the insurance company to do something about it because I don't care how easy it really is for me to fix (since the 2 most disposable parts are bust).

I would contact the CAG who shipped it and find out if they purchased insurance. If they did, then send them the photo and ask them to make a claim for you. Well, Amazon says it's 28 pounds for the premium set. But I just want the core set which doesn't have any cymbals. They're 4.2 pounds each and there are two of them on the premium, so the core set should be 19-20 pounds. Not sure what the dimensions of the box would be though.

Yup definitely. Things from Japan are NOT cheap, but there are some truly unique things you can't find anywhere else (not to mention really unique gaming items). So if you play your cards right then you can get some really awesome things for a lot less than a trip to Japan or paying through the nose on game import sites or eBay. dv8mad is the man :)

I was at my local FS and they were selling the identical preorder as BestBuy, they both should include the code for the golden weapons. They should be in stock but it will vary by store.
Future Shop pre-order is not the golden weapons. It's a dynamic XMB theme.

People have sold PSN items on ebay for some decent money, I've seen playstation home costumes go for $15-20 because it was only available via preorders. If the FS exclusive theme is indeed exclusive, there may be a strong demand for it online.

Thats right you arent supposed to sell codes but they really dont care about it. The worst that ebay will do is take your item down. Then you could just relist it and state you will ship it and they cant do anything about it.

I have sold over 100 xbox codes online and the only troubles I ever ran into were people trying to scam me by stating "my code didnt work". About 3 people tried that and for all of them I stated that I make sure all codes are active via the xbox dashboard code inputing thingy and then if they still "cant get it working" I would tell them I will get a hold of xbox and figure out what happened and have them trace to code to figure out what happened. This scarred them into dropping their scamming act and the code magically worked every time.
