I have a question, is there tracking on First-Class Mail ($03.00 USD = 5 ounces – 6 ounces (typical video game DVD rate))? or is it pretty safe to send without it.

Well, there isn't really tracking for any first class mail to Canada. You can get tracking with Priority (more like delivery confirmation really) but the safest thing is to insure it for $2.00 USD. This insures up to $100 and we can get additional insurance as well if you want for larger items. I have shipped over 5,000 packages in 13 years and have lost exactly 2. So really, 99.996% of the packages get delivered without any problems :)

Bubble mailer... All my lowball items that wern't yours (IE: Lost Planet from puggit, Turok from Dv8, etc) arrived with corners broken, shattered cases, ripped artwork, etc. (luckily manual and disc were fine... those I can't replace).

I only posted the lost planet one here, but all the ones arriving afterwards had the same fate. I just didn't make a big hassle of it because Brian gave me a bunch of cases incase it does happen :P

I've had a string of bad luck with cracked cases from Goozex, there was probably a period when I got 5-6 cracked cases out of 10 or so awhile back... but now it seems ok. I guess they broke their DVD mailer smashing machine, or moved it to another sorting station.

It seems like anything that isn't sent by you has been arriving cracked recently. So, whether that means unlucky, or simply they hired some asshole at the Canada Post warehouse... It's unknown.

Must be the same asshole who slices my packages open (doesn't close them back!) and keeps random items. Sometime my packages arrive in terrible condition. That never happened with Goomba though! :applause:

Guys, let me say this again. I am working on Black Friday in a special Poker Tournament nearly all day. I can't go to ANY local stores for deals. I can only go for online deals (starting with Amazon at 3AM). Since I am working Friday though I may have to pull an all-nighter in order to make it work.

Again, I can't go to any local stores as they are too crazy and because I have to work. Also, my Sears doesn't sell video games and I have no K-Mart, so .... =P

Hey guys, another update: Tomorrow is Veteran's Day in the USA so the post office is closed. I'm all caught up though on all the items I have received. If you haven't received an Email yet it means I'm waiting for an item in your order, waiting for a payment from you or you just need to contact me to remind you in rare cases.

the PS3 is definitely not B/C with PS2 games since it's based on the CECHH01 (or whichever one is supposed to be the standard black) model. The only backwards compatible systems are the piano black models w/4 usb ports. CECHA01 (60gb), CECB01 (20gb), & CECHE01 (80gb bundle version)

I will be trying a new type of lowball auction that I invented so I assure you it'll be unique :) And no, the MGS4 PS3 is NOT backwards compatible (the Limited Edition gunmetal version that is) unfortunately but it's pretty awesome and less than 10,000 were made in total. I lost a lot of money though since I paid $650 when it came out (never opened it). Ouch =P

You may not notice a major improvement, but the behind-the-scenes stuff on the PHP/CSS/HTML here is much cleaner AND it includes some of the automated features I'm tying into the site right now. The Direct Request page as you know:

yeah I noticed the second form looking screwed up but I never bothered to tell you since I figured the whole site was in beta and this would be fixed anyway.

Your form still doesn't allow orders for multiple items, so I'll continue to do what I normally do, put item names in item field and link in comments.

I think I also got my Demon's Souls + whatever you shipped with it, going to pick it up tomorrow!

JeffX, well definitely if you notice anything funky on the page let me know! Since I'm a one man show for the most part (and quite busy) I don't find a lot of these things for quite some time if nobody points them out to me. Don't worry, multiple items are coming soon. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to do it. Here are some of my options:

1) Have multiple sections for item #1, #2, #3, etc. on a single page that lets you input multiple items. This is of course the easiest solution but not necessarily the best.

2) Have a user enter items one at a time and then ask "Would you like to add another item" on the bottom. This is good for unlimited items at once, but it's a tad bit step heavy and requires multiple page clicks. Not ideal but it would work.

3) Combination of the two: Have a user be able to list as many items as they want and have the page dynamically add in new boxes until the user submits. The only problem is that I'm not really at the level of coding expertise to have dynamic (AJAX or otherwise) driven pages like this so I may do a sort of pseudo-#2 option that keeps track of all of the items submissions and then tabulates them into a single submission.

Whatever I end up doing though it'll be changeable of course, so your input is always appreciated. I promise I'll work out something :)

Glad to hear you guys are getting your Deluxe copies. Keep them like the treasures they are! I really am regretting not keeping one for myself haha.

Absolutely Maigoyume. That's always an option. Very soon in fact there will be a place on the website to let you do that as well, but for now you can just send Paypal to me and I will put it into my software as a payment. Any time you over pay or pay ahead of time it puts it in as a "Business Purchase Credit" which applies to future invoices when I send them. So if you were to send $50 and then order something $100 two weeks from now, the invoice would show that you only owe $50. As simple as that :) Thanks!

I did give you like $30 in gift cards and ~$30 from the eBay bid...

$125 from my debit card
$110 from my credit card

Total = 295
Camera: $170 + $15 = $185

So, yeah... Seemingly I paid for everything but the shipping or so, so how much did that come to I'll pay now since I do need the entire credit bill refunded. Only $50 refund does seem a little low though.

Oh, I made a mistake (slightly) and forgot to send you an extra $50 like I planned on from my balance. Still, how much did the shipping come to?

Man Rogan :) You are by far my most difficult and questioning customer lol (no offense intended). Take that for what it's worth ^_^ If I ever do GFC awards you'll definitely win one of some sort lol :) This is exactly why I am changing my policies to require pre-payment for all items through the website, and will in the future not be refunding money as actual cash (instead it will go towards future store credit).

Shipping and insurance and everything came to $35 USD total. I assure you I keep very accurate records of all payments on my end. I'm not out to cheat you man :)

Uhm you need to have a better ... contact / conversation system. Like I don't think you should rely on CAG for transaction details (although RoganSarine sure doesn't seem to mind). Also simplify things like clearly marking which of your paypal address is which, to prevent questions like maigoyume's.

But then again I trust your new system will take care of these small details. These are more like recommendations because they don't affect me at all.

Yeah... The non credit and the difference in your projected shipping versus the actual shipping. I was never told the shipping which is why it sounded odd -- I was assuming the shipping was around $15 (your projected cost) instead of the ACTUAL cost.

The only reason I'm asking is because I want to know how much to send you as an eCheck.

Only reason I use CAG is because his email system for WHATEVER reason loses my emails unless I message him here... It's happened like 3 times :P

P.S.: I'm assuming most of the shipping was from insurance which... I always include in the shipping :P Just tell me how much to send.

P.S.S.: Confusion is mainly because I never actually got an invoice for the camera, so I have no idea what the total actually came to... And... the new DR works amazingly (albeit, little hard to find since I didn't realize it wasn't linked to)... Definitely nice not having to re-enter the basic info -- hopefully, it does something nice on the back end invoicing-wise.

Rogan, yup I'm aware of the non-centeredness of the login icon. That'll be fixed soon enough :) I just am going through some CSS changes and things so I have to tweak it. Not a big deal though and should be easy enough.

As for the new DR, I want to make sure everything works 100% for people before I replace the old one. I never really link Beta versions of pages until I'm sure that they won't wig out on people =) that's why I use you guys as my test subjects hehe.

The back end for this step isn't any different for me, but once I upgrade to the new pages (multiple items, pay in full, etc.) then it'll make things a lot easier for me. Like I said, big changes are coming to GFC and they're all for the better for everyone. Just had to take a year and a half to really test things out to see what works. I appreciate you taking a look! I'm just going to go ahead and update the DR form with the new version for now minus the new pages on top. Thanks again!

Maigoyume, you shouldn't get charged for direct funds unless for some reason it's tied to a credit card or possibly a bank e-transfer of some kind. Paypal seems really random lately with how their fees are going, so I can't say for certain. I am sorry if they charged you though.

Remember, for those of you who are constantly getting charged fees and such. You still have two great options to order virtually fee free:

1) Order the items yourself and ship them to my UPS account. Since you are paying for the items yourself, I am not being charged a fee to receive your items and therefore there is no fee to pass onto you. So if you have a credit card or can buy from a company that will ship to the USA for you, then this is always an option!

Just so you know, the next 7 days straight I'm working in the big fall tournaments at my casino which means I'll be working a LOT of hours and won't be online much. telepathy, yes definitely. That's always a good idea as I have no problem figuring it out afterwards as long as I can get you the item. That's not a problem at all =)

Oh and for those wondering, Rogan is quite correct in the fact it doesn't matter how expensive the items you order. You can order 10 different games at $60 each in one order and only pay $11 service fee (earning you $2.75 in Canuck Bucks) or you could order 10 different games as separate orders at $60 each and pay $20 service fees total (earning you $5.00 in Canuck Bucks). It's more of a frequent buyer's reward than it is a max spending reward as I don't really make more for more expensive items =) Hope that makes sense.

Okay guys, I'm home ^_^ Busy day today at the tournament again. I dealt to the 2002 winner of the WSOP (surprisingly nice guy...and his wife too) and got another full 8 hours dealing time. So I'm home and ready to answer some of your questions:

TKO, I do in store deals but only if they can be ordered online and picked up in store. Black Friday deals may be hard to come buy but I'm going to do my best. I cannot, however, pick up in-store only items as I won't have time to wait out in line.

Also, yes it's true I typically don't go to stores unless I know I can get an item, but Best Buy is one store that does show their inventory online so if something is in store I can check online before going and see. If it's available, Best Buy lets me pay online and pick up in store, so it's essentially still an online order :) If that makes sense. I can't go hunting store to store (there's only one Best Buy where I live anyway) but they do offer pretty accurate online checking for in-store items. Black Friday, though is the exception so ... yeah.

If last year is any indication there will be some INSANE deals to be had on Black Friday :) Typically the list will come out a little bit in advance but Amazon in particular likes to spring very time-sensitive "Good till they sell out" deals and last year was crazy. I spent almost $8,000 on orders within 12 hours lol. It was nuts :) Definitely keep a sharp eye out for that one!

Nah, the Japanese Blu-Ray sets are only like $850 USD :) A real bargain! But yeah seriously, being an anime fan is a MAJOR living expense. I spent every penny I had on anime/manga when I was a teenager and nearly went broke. It's such an addicting thing too even though I rarely re-watched series (movies yes, but TV series/OVA no). Still owning Blu-Ray versions of my favorites are really tempting. I try to restrict myself to movies only right now since they tend to be cheaper but some series are really, really good (Card Captor included).

As for BF sales, they tend to be about 20-30% newer items and 60-70% older items at a great discount. Many pre-order items are given away free with items as well which is always nice :) Each year has been exceptional with them so I don't see why this year would be any different. Considering the economy it may even be better than last year =) We'll see very soon!

** GFC UPDATE **

Hey Guys, I'm home at last (worked another long day and went to eat Japanese food at our favorite restaurant in Providence, RI after work). I'm writing this on our newest addition to the GFC family: An Acer Aspire One netbook (a very purple, girly looking one I might add). It's a temporary addition to the family as I intend to return it soon but wanted to get a feel for a netbook. I plan to bring it to work and put it in my locker and that way I can check on this forum, write quick Emails and possibly send out some invoices while on break. That'll help keep me more up to date on days when I'm a bit behind schedule on shipping out things due to the time it takes to keep up with new orders. It's not a perfect system but I'm really liking the netbook so far. I still think I may upgrade to an 11" Dell one though since it has a slightly higher resolution and better battery life, but for $300 this is a surprisingly powerful little netbook. 1GB of RAM is pushing it with Windows 7, but it's working so I can't complain. Thanks again for everything. Keep in mind this crazy tournament schedule will be over on 11/22/2009 and then my life will return to "normal".

Also, next week I'll be home in the afternoon/night more often so I can resume work on the new DR pages and reward system. Thanks guys!

Personally, Goomba, if you could manage to get a cheap tablet... It may be easier to go that route. Tablet's are nice for not only school, but portability because you don't have to carry around the mouse to get the speed and precision of a mouse; however, they normally are more expensive than a netbook with relatively the same specs.

I was originally skeptical at getting mine at first (and since I'm a huge technophile I had to splurge 4 grand to get the best :P), but I definitely see the superiority over most tablets. Depending on your purposes (IE: Whether or not you need an eraser), a tablet can be a feasible and welcomed upgrade above a netbook.

Although, let it be known I absolutely HATE track mats. The grease destroys the mat and makes it look ugly, and I find them annoying to use for every reason except scrolling (the multi-touch scrolling is nice).

Also, if I have a bunch of amazon GC's... You said you wanted me to send them over through a DR?

Hmm... To get the fatal frame series and shadow of destiny or wait until black friday... <_<

Rogan, you're absolutely correct. I love tablets :) But for my situation it's not really going to work. I have a full-powered Dell Studio laptop for my regular laptop needs, but this netbook is actually just so I can work specifically from the casino job I have. I have to fit it into a small little locker and bring it home with me each day. The casino has pretty strict security policies and I don't think they'd like me lugging around an actual laptop bag with me (not to mention it wouldn't fit in our small lockers). The netbook also costs $299 or less which is good seeing that it's just an extra computer in the GFC arsenal.

Yes, if you have Amazon Gift Cards, just send them through DR for now. I will be adding a page on the site eventually for this purpose (since it seems like a very popular idea now lol) but as always just hang in there for that ^_^ We'll get by with what we have and slowly improve things as always. Are the 11" dells $300? In canada, the 10" netbooks are about 450 and the 11" sub-notebook are like around 600-800 depending on the make and batter life (IE: Asus, Acer, MSI, or dell... I tend to like EEE PC for smaller netbooks and the Acer Timeline for the bigger ones).

I was thinking that you could pretty easily get a tablet for around $600 using canadian prices.

I've got like 2 netbooks, 1 tablet, and 2 gaming desktops... Why? I have no idea.

The 11.6" Dell netbook/laptop models are like $369 for refurbished ones (closer to $500 new). That's funny that you have so many computers. I also have quite a few but I can never get enough :) I like having ones for very specific uses lol. We have 3 Desktops, 3 laptops (one is really old though), 1 Mac Mini and now 1 Netbook. I don't have a tablet but I do have a Wacom Cintiq which is rather nice ^_^

The nice thing about netbooks is that they boot up really quickly (If your using linux)

The tablet you listed likely won't boot up quickly unless you refrain from installing an anti-virus on it (Which, unless your illegally downloading stuff or look at the nekkids, you don't need at all) and install a non-bloated windows XP. Personally, I like laptops that boot up so fast, so if you do that it'd be nice.

I can't tell if that Wacom pen has an eraser, but it does look like it does. While you probably will never NEED an eraser because your typing invoices, it's still a nice feature to have IMO :P. But, the pen will definitely make invoice easier because you can navigate your PC a lot easier than a track mat.

From the looks of it though, that's a 6-cell battery instead of a 9-cell battery. Another thing I like about tablets is the ability to carry them one hand, so you can use it has a book. I can carry a netbook with one hand easily, but it's kind of awkward on a 12" laptop unless you have a 9-cell battery to be able to hold onto. Ontop of being easy to hold onto, you get about double the battery life.

With a 6-cell on an old intel M processor, you are still looking at around 1.5-3 hours depending on your brightness setting which may or may not be enough to you. If you can manage to get a 9-cell, it should go up to 2.5-4 hours.

You can compare this with the highest netbook battery which I think is a 6-cell (I believe the highest netbooks are 6 cell anyway, but they may be 9-cell) where you can normally get around 7 hours using linux (going off of my netbooks) which is more than enough to last you a day. I remember I only charged my netbook like once every 2 days.

I don't really know your uses, but that's just some of my thoughts when comparing it with a netbook.

By the way, if you remember, my laptop was a 12.1" one, so if you roughly can remember the size of that case you bought me... that's the size you are looking at with a 9 cell (the depth would be about an inch shorter with a 6-cell battery).

The only thing that comes to my mind in terms of a cheap tablet PC was when Lenovo was phasing out the X61 last year and they were going for like $400-500.

But, a couple people in my class bought a tablet after I showed them mine, and I know theres was under a grand (~$600 range) from bestbuy.

Wow thanks so much for all the info Rogan. That was really helpful. I will have to look into my options. I really want to do only the following at work:

1) Check Email
2) Do simple web browsing and possibly simple games (mostly flash or puzzle games, possibly some emulators)
3) Use Remote Desktop to connect to home computer
4) Send invoices and process orders
5) Work on web development/HTML/PHP, etc.

So nothing crazy there. I only get 15-20 minutes each break (get 3-4 a day but not together) so I don't have a lot of time really so battery life isn't necessarily an issue and I'll be bringing it home each day with me after work. It's just to catch up a little bit on my backlogs and keep up with the web development once I have caught up.

I don't want to spend more than $450 max as I already have some great laptops at home (they are 15.4" and 17.0" laptops though so not exactly ultra portable ^_^ Tablet would be nice but I honestly wouldn't really need one as I wouldn't be using it much at work (unless I was in the mood to draw which would be nice, but on underpowered systems Photoshop and my animation programs probably won't be too great).

Windows 7 is still more resources intensive than Windows XP -- it doesn't fair that well on a non-bloated version of XP on a netbook which stills boots up relatively fast.

Although, there is no excuse for ANYONE to still use Vista as Windows 7 is far superior in speed, performance, and aesthetics.

For an underpowered netbook, non-bloated Windows XP (Usually hacked versions) or Linux is definitely a better bet in my opinion than windows 7. I like netbooks for the ability to be able to boot up in under 20 seconds which Windows 7 won't be able to provide... While it's easy to wait another 20 seconds or so for Windows 7 to boot, when you have a portable machine that can fit in your pocket... Boot speeds outweigh fancy visuals. //nerd end.

Goomba, curiously, how quickly do I have to open my camera incase I want to claim insurance (if you know)? I may not get to/want to open my camera until next week or the weekend, but if it happens to be damaged... I don't want to be screwed (doesn't look like it is at all, but it's always better to be safe)

Firestorm, the Netbook I got has "Windows 7 Starter" which is a dumbed down version of Windows 7. Not bad actually and speeds are pretty good though XP is probably still faster on a Netbook for sure. I'll probably just upgrade to the full version of 7 though if I get a slightly higher end netbook or a lower end tablet.

RoganSarine, I'm not exactly sure as far as the insurance for the package goes. I've never actually had an item damaged in the mail so I never had to claim it, but I'm pretty sure they'll give you at least a few days (more likely a week). Just check it and let me know, I'm sure it's mint ^_^

Yeah, Google translate kinda works but i have my doubts on some things i read.
(For example, don't use it for reading articles since it doesn't seem robust enough yet)
That's why I'm asking for clarification because the auction does not list how much shipping is.

I only use it for simple things (aka auctions) since there isn't that much of a difference between Ebay & Yahoo Auctions.

I wish I had a solid foundation of the language, cause then I would just buy all my games in Japanese instead of waiting. (I'm actually considering buying the japanese version of No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise PS3 since it had a confirmed date of February 25th 2010, while there is no NA date atm.)

I'm going to be in Hartford, CT again (my state's capital city) for a good portion of today. Hey there ^_^ Just saying hi. I had a good day. Went to Hartford, got some Vietnamese food and some Chinese/Japanese groceries at the Asian Supermarket, came home and took out my air conditioning and did some home cleaning (man Air Conditioners are heavy), listed some eBay items, watched some TV shows, ate dinner and now I'm working a bit on the new GFC updates. ** GFC UPDATE **

Let it be known that today, 11/23/2009 was the first time I successfully generated dynamic fields in PHP/Javascript/HTML forms! This means that we are one step closer to having multiple item DR pages :) My goal is to have this ready before Black Friday at least in Beta format. It won't take over the main page for quite some time but will be available as an alternative for people who want to request more items than one. I hope to have something to show you guys soon. If I wasn't working so much at my "real" jobs I'd have this done by now. Cya soon!

ACK! I'm tempted to order some items from the Black Friday deals but still debating on heading down there myself to check it out. I've gone down for the last few Black Fridays and its CRAZY (deal wise and the amount of people) compared to boxing day up here Canada. Would much rather have Black Fridays than Boxing Days primarliy due to the insane cold here in Winnipeg, I've been out in -40 degree celsius weather a few times and its not fun. :cold:

Black Friday basically makes Boxing Day look like a joke. Besides a few door crasher specials that you would have to wait for overnight, it is completely not worth any adventuring. The only thing I thought was a deal so far was a 16 Gig SD card for $20 -- I shoulda bought two.

In other news, I'm still the lone bidder on that Key 10th Anniversary Box.
It's ending in 1 day and 5 hours (although Yahoo is full of dirty snipers), from what I've found, no one really seems to have a good weight listing for it. Just eyeballing the contents, I would imagine that it will be around 3 or 4kg though.

The measurements are accurate from what I've seen. The weight is the iffy one. I have seen from 3.2kg to 3.7kg, which is why I just say 3-4kg. :roll: Seems no one knows how to weigh a package here! LOL

Mirror's Edge (apparently only released in Spain & very hard to come by)

I'm definitely not in a hurry to pick them up but they would be nice to have for the right price. (Pounds are very expensive you know).

edit: these are the UK/PAL ones that were exclusive to GAME.co.uk & stuff like that.

Oh and if you are curious what I got scammed on eBay, here's the thing. I sold a $20 iTunes card to this woman. She requested the code by Email so I sent it to her. Then she claimed to eBay that she never got the item. So she got her money back ($20) and the free iTunes card. I contacted a bunch of other sellers she bought from and she did the same thing to them too. I am trying to fight it, but eBay doesn't generally side with sellers (even if they claim they do). The buyer has ALL the power, especially now that we can't leave negative feedback for bad buyers. It sucks, but I'm going to do what I can.

I mailed the physical card to her (which the address seems bogus too btw) to show eBay I did mail the physical item, but I'm sure they'll give her money back to her and rip me off as they always do. They really couldn't care less about sellers these days (which is why eBay is quickly losing their long reach they once had). My two cents and rant for the day :)

telepathy, eBay officially does not allow or accept digital products anymore. So if you list one then the buyer can ALWAYS scam you. The only way to truly protect yourself is to ship an item with tracking and even then the person can claim the code didn't work (after they redeemed it). It's a very fine line and eBay is crummy about supporting sellers as I mentioned. Just be careful :) Only sell to buyers who have a lot of feedback and if you want to send by Email/PM/whatever just protect yourself. Good luck!

Yeah, i guess thats true as well, but for your case that you mentioned before, it does sound way too one sided (especially with the testimony of other sellers as well). Well, i hope they eventually side with you.
