**Just out of curiousity guys, is there anything you would order from Japan if you could? I'm looking into a few things at the moment and may just be able to get some things from the land of the rising sun. I'm in the process of potentially hooking up with a sales partner over there, and am planning to fly over myself within the next year or two. Unfortunately heimdal, I don't have my Best Buy Premium Silver....YET. I should be qualified by the first or second week of February (they don't credit your points until 30-40 days after you buy things to make sure you don't return them and get the points). So last year if you recall in late December (the 28th to be exact) I went and spent like $1000 or so at Best Buy to make sure I met the qualified spending limit.

If it's 30 days then I should have it by Feb. 1st, but I have a feeling they'll drag their feet a little since it's 2009 and they have to back track. I'm sure I'll get it though. Even if it means I'll be on the phone for an hour with customer service =p

I guess many of this forum members have received a letter from Atlus last week that had "???" as a subject and nothing but a picture of Raiho's shadow over the SMT logo (which probably means US release of Devil Summoner 2). Today I've seen this page (http://www.gamefly.com/products/detail.asp?pid=135590) that says the game will be released on May, 14th. So goomba, the very moment the game becomes available for pre-order please post here a notification (though I'm pretty sure I'll know about that before you do =P) , I would love to pre-order it at once.

mberkes, any game from Amazon that is a normal game (meaning not a collector's edition with guides, cds, etc.) will almost always be +$5 (covers shipping and fees). Remember this as a good rule of thumb ^_^

Firestorm, I'm actually working on one better. Not only shipping calculator, but an invoice generator. This will be probably the most important thing I'm working on but also the most difficult (aka end of February/early March probably for fully featured).

it will:

1) Calculate the cost of the item plus shipping to me.
2) Calculate the cost of shipping to you in Canada.
3) Figure out the service charge (for multiple items with discounts and such)
4) Figure in insurance costs and all that fun stuff =)

It'll be quite cool. The hard part will be getting it to generate an invoice, but I'm working on it!

I believe the box set of Ar Tonelico 1 (original release) goes for $70-$100. Given sacred box set was only printed 1000, it will likely follow the same path.

Do you know if you can get Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 1 (the first one with the very long title ;-)). I ordered the 2nd chapter in pre-order from Amazon.ca, but I am yet to find the 1st one at a reasonable price.

I see from GameStop, EBGames that it should be selling for $9 new or $8.99 used. According to one of the invetory locator they are some copy available at 8 miles from your mailing address.

Well if it has no original case (box art cover) it will be more difficult to accept, ill be in the same opinion of Lockescythe. Manual is not a most, but will be welcome ;-).

Ohh btw you were saying that you have an iPhone, maybe if you see one you could snap a pic of it showing its condition and I could give my approval ;-). Or unless you can fin a new copy, which seems possible but none of the GS or EB near your home 8-(. The nearest place is at more than 20miles ouch!

Used games definitely suck when they have scratches/no case/no manual which is why I hardly ever order from Gamestop online. That being said, it can't hurt to check out the stores in person. Just realize some stores are not really close to my house so I'll have to drive around to actually inspect them in person. Asking "Is the game complete and in good condition" on the phone they will always say yes, but when you get there it can be scratched to hell and back. I will try to investigate though!

If you guys are willing to pay a little more for a new copy (as in my gas fees) then I won't mind checking it out for you. Just know most new copies are not sealed at Gamestop and may/may not have a price sticker on the box (which is easily removed). The disc is 99% likely to be mint though in these cases...

Condition is no worries. I've got a friend with a resurfacer. So as long as the games not completly wrecked it'll be fine.

Gamer602, I spent nearly $20,000 last year on video games (many from Gamestop) so yes I'm 10,000,000% sure we have only 7 days to return used games and even then you'll get the evil eye. 30 days for new games (unopened). If they are opened, it's a no-deal. Even if the game was sold as new and unopened when bought (as is often the case). You have to specifically ask for a sealed plastic case that cannot be returned if opened (stupidest thing ever).

rayee6, no deals on SF IV sticks that I'm aware of. Sorry. Shipping kills the deals anyway seeing as it costs around $25-$30 to ship to Canada. But thanks :)

With the sequel coming out soon a lot of people are probably out to find the original suddenly (you know how that goes). Thanks! I would love to have a Segway for the record. Only way to look nerdier going to a Gamestop half way across the state would be to do so on a Segway, with a bike helmet and some cliche gaming clothing and a big backpack to hold the games in lol. I'd totally be for that.

Hey guys, as you know I'm working on ways to improve the GFC site and one thing I'm considering is to allow you guys to send me games for credit. Rather than be a Gamestop clone and give you X amount of dollars for game that costs 3X, I'd rather work on something more beneficial to both of us. My idea is this:

1) You guys can send me in games, systems, DVDs or whatever.
2) I can list them on eBay for you (I'll do the listing, selling, shipping).
3) I subtract the eBay fees and say 5-10% for my service and the rest is yours. You can either take cash (through Paypal) or get store credit for my store or my Direct Request services.

Doing it this way would mean you could potentially get higher values for your items (as many buyers in the US don't buy from Canada) or you could flip games that are easily available in Canada but are more expensive in the US and such. Seeing as the CAD is so low right now, this might actually work to your advantage. Because a $50 CAD game that sells for $48 USD would actually put you ahead. If you find a game that's on sale or that you traded for a great deal, you could definitely come out ahead.

Let me know if this seems too crazy to work. I tend to like crazy ideas :)

I've had staff tell me it's 7 days for opened used games at EB Canada. "Opened" meaning that sticker they put on it is broken. But the back of the receipt says "Returns & exchanges of new & pre-owned merchandise will be accepted within 14 days of purchase. Some exceptions apply. See complete details posted in store." Of course they'll sell you a game guaranty for $2-$3 :lol:

I always get a good laugh when they try to sell me the guaranty on cartridge based games. My NES games still work buddy!

Gamer602, yes I would definitely consider giving more for store credit. I couldn't do more for Direct Request purchases as those are direct purchases (charge you actual costs plus my service fee). I'm not sure about how much more but I assume 5-10% or somewhere around there.

I haven't figured out all the details yet, but I will if people are interested in such a service. I'm just looking for ways to expand my business and grow out my services. As it's very possible in the near future that I will have to rely more on these types of projects as my job at the University is in question and my casino one may be as well later in the year. The US Economy is a NIGHTMARE right now =P

Honestly no Costa. It costs $25-$30 to ship these types of Arcade joystick sets because they weigh up to 10+ pounds. Really sorry. The cheaper joysticks that sell for $30 or so I can do shipped $60 or so, but other than that it's nearly impossible. My apologies.

The only problem is that many Gamestop employees catch on fast when you ask about specific titles and have been known to keep these games for themselves. I'm not saying all Gamestop employees do this, but I have friends that have worked there and they say it's not at all a rare occurrence.

I will get back to you guys about that specific game probably Tuesday or Wednesday. One of them is on the way to my University job so I'll check it out in person. I have almost 60 packages to pack today so I'm really behind on that ^_^ Gotta go back to packing.

Powerseller discounts are nice, but they're not as good as they sound. I qualified for 20% last month and it's just 20% off the final value fees.

Meaning if your fees are $10.00 you save $2.00. But getting the 20% is really, really difficult and usually you'll get 5%-15% at most. It's a nice extra, but doesn't add up as much as you'd think (especially if you're a store owner). Once you figure in Paypal and all that stuff it's largely negated =p

I've been a Powerseller for over a year now =) Working towards Silver at the moment ^_^ So yes, I speak from experience. Fun being a Powerseller but doesn't give you half as many benefits as you'd expect lol.

If I qualify it will be for the 15%. I always get complaints from Americans about shipping times, one even went as far as to give me a negative because it took a whole 9 business days to get there. Since I have been listing a lot of BIN auctions in the games section I wouldnt mind the 15% break as I have been charged over $1000 in final value fees over the last 3 months.

Yeah, the 15% does add up. I'm not saying it doesn't :) But for as much as eBay charges you'd think they'd give even more incentives for PowerSellers seeing as they do almost all the work for eBay. Without them there'd be very little business.

Yeah 9 business days is an eternity when you really want a game and too many buyers are ignorant of shipping times and procedures (unfortunately). I feel your pain there. Best of luck to you and welcome to the club ;)

One store had it labeled as new, but it had no box and no manual...they refused to give it to me at the used price so I told them to forget it. And several stores didn't have anything to show. Either the employees are hiding them in the back, or they really need to update Gamestop's inventory for that game online. Sorry guys.

Yeah it does steal away ALL my time. I'm working almost 80 hours a week (no lie). It's good to have income for sure, but it's also nice to see daylight and have some free time..something that is sorely lacking in Goomba's life the past two or three months :(

That being said, I've come up with a brand new auction system on CAG. I call it a "Rewinding Auction" ©. Basically I start all the items at the prices I want to sell them for, and every day they don't sell, I lower them by a set amount (5 cents, 10 cents, etc.). Eventually the prices will go down low enough that people will buy them. Check it out here:

I've fixed it and did a test submission and it worked now. To make matters more complicated, my site structure in Dreamweaver was messed up due to the server change, so the changes I had made didn't go into effect before. Now they have. Doctor, it has to do with where the money comes from. If it is money from a bank checking or savings account then there is no fee but if it is a bank credit care, there is. Simple as that :)

Assuming he shipped them on the 11th, thats still only 6 business days up till today...you should be looking at up to 10-14 business days.

Oh and Dell.com has 20% off all video game stuff...and I mean everything, 80GB PS3 is $319 (I wish the dollar was par)! There are a few good deals you can try to nab though I guess.

jaszypoo, I'll get right on that :) I can definitely get your film for you and yes I ALWAYS SHIP USPS (no need for UPS/FedEX ... they're rip-offs if you ask me).

janlazer, honestly doing the direct-request thing is the BEST way to request items for a couple of reasons:

1) My CAG PMs fill up too fast and I end up having to delete them. This makes it hard to keep track of orders and I'm afraid I'll lose your order (definitely not good).

2) Sending a Direct Request from my site puts your info into a specific folder in my inbox that imports into my Quickbooks software. This means I can add you as a permanent customer and I have all your info at my fingertips whenever I need it. After your first order, I can just punch in your info and there it is.

3) Doing a Direct Request makes it easier to keep track of what orders came in at what time. I always, always, always try to do first-come-first-serve with my orders. So if you put a Direct Request in and you don't hear from me for a few days, don't worry...I will get back to you. I just probably have a few more in front of you. I spend a lot of time on some orders (especially custom ones from multiple sites). It doesn't help either that my job has me working 7 days a week every week since the last week of December 2008 (crazy year it's been).

So that's it in a nutshell. You can request items by Email or PM or even in this forum, but they will likely get buried fast. Use my Request Form on my site and I have a concrete form to look at and print out and will process as soon as the ones above it have been finished. Simple as that :)
