I normally don't pre-order as much as I used to years back, but something tells me that this particular item is gonna be hard to locate at launch. I've a feeling that once all the different media outlets (tv shows, newspapers, women's magazines) turn the general public onto this, it's gonna be sold-out city all over again. As one of the major superfatties of doom that this was targeted at, I'm willing to give it a shot. Hell, I can't fit an exercise machine/bike in the house (then how do I fit in the house...hmmm...) and I really don't like to run or bike in the 90 degree/humid weather, so why not?

I know, it won't be popular with the super slim/healthy gamers, but I fully admit I'm not one (lol fatty) and I like the potential of this. It'll be a lot easier to convince me to turn on my Wii rather than drive out to the gym a few days weekly.

Yeah, this is the reason that we are the last region to receive it. AU, EU and JP all will have theirs before us. Apparently they decided to reinforce the US one.

I don't see why it would, unless the rug is bunched up and raises it off level (ie it pushes up a corner so you end up leaning slightly to feel level).

For starters, we already know it's not for weight loss. We're hoping it'll be fun, interesting, and innovative.

One reason is likely convenience. I am within 10 minutes of a couple gyms, so this doesn't apply to me as much, but you figure some people are a good 20-30 minutes from a gym or they don't have consistent transportation to a gym (I for one am unable to drive a car, so my realistic gym options is the crappy on-campus dungeon, and that's only til May or running outdoors). The time and gas money may have a point in it.

Additionally, some people may see this as more an investment than a gym membership. The Planet Fitness near my house essentially charges either 20/month (12 month min.) or 200 pre-paid for a year. As a gamer, you get a game out of it and the board which seems like it could be usable for future titles. And there is no membership fee for the board, and it's certainly cheaper than most of the machines you would get in home.

For pure exercise in an ideal situation, you'll get a lot farther with a gym membership or it would be a lot cheaper to simply pick up a yoga mat and some quality exercise videos. But this doesn't seem like a bad option to me at all. And as I said earlier, it'll be easier to convince someone to work out for an hour when they don't have to drive twenty minutes each way, rather just push a button.

I can see your point though, but I hope I explained some of the pros I see in this set up.

And hell, even if it's two pounds a week, that's still 20-25 pounds over a summer. If this convinces someone who will play games anyway to exercise while playing, I can't diss it too bad.

For those comparing this to DVD/Video programs, DON'T! Huge difference, you can fall behind and the videos don't give a damn, but since this game actually INTERACTS with you, you have an incentive to participate. If its fun, people see it as "playing". If it's hard, they see it as work. Putting on gym clothes, driving to the gym, plus gas at $3.5, and $500/year membership all equals hard ass work. Wake up, turn on wii, and "play", it's like paying $90 bucks for a lifetime personal trainer. I don't think many people on this forum go to the gym so they don't know how time consuming the whole ordeal is. And I have a lot overweight friends that want to lose weight but are too embarrassed to go to the gym (even though they paid over a $1000 for a 3 year membership).

The casual or media doesn't reflect what'll be a hit or GOTY though. If that were the case Guitar Hero III would be swiping all the honors away from Rock Band since couldn't swing a stick without seeing something Guitar Hero (still to this day I see it's blitz continue). Let's also not forget Halo 3 and no the Mountain Dew: Halo Game Fuel award doesn't count for shit for it. Besides I can only imagine WiiFit scoring at the 7.0's or so at best since WiiSports and WiiPlay, not exactly the best games and that isn't enough to beat Smash's 9.0's and everything else.

Especially when it's hard to even call WiiFit a game at all.

It never ceases to amaze me that people don't realize taste in games is subjective. Complaining about "lame minigames" is tired at this point. I don't play GTA or HALO, personally I think they are lame maxigames.

Before Wii Fit had a release date and price, Amazon started taking preorders for it back in September. They priced it at $69.99. Amazon's policy is that if preorder is lower than actual price, you pay the lowest price. If preorder his higher than actual price, they'll charge you the actual price.

As for the $79.99, there was a pricing mistake when preorders were being taken about a month ago. Some people got on it and was able to get it for that price while some werent.

yep mine is scheduled for Thursday delivery GROUND. I live in SC so im not near their center even though a product i ordered Wednesday came from Wilmington which is a hour long drive.

my wii fit left texas monday night and has YET to be updated from "left for departure" on ups's website it still says out for departure. What does this mean? ITS LOST!!!!!!!!! My last 4 of 6 products from amazon that they shipped via ups have done that exact same thing to never show up. Why the fuck does UPS suck so damn much.

I flipped them on ebay even before it was released. The ones from Amazon are being shipped out today. Waiting for my order from Deep Discount to arrive whenever they ship and went to Walmart, Target and Best Buy.

Considering you paid $90 for it. Sell on ebay for about $150-180 (including shipping). Thats a $60-90 profit. Take off about $20-30 for fees and shipping. To some it might not be but to others, it is.

Yep, 12lbs according to UPS. There is nothing in the package except for Wii Fit and brown paper for padding and invoice. I'll go with UPS shipping weight

Pretty disappointing, I preordered the first day it was available from Amazon with 1-day shipping and it won't be arriving until tomorrow even though it was shipped on Monday. So weird....oh well.
