I must concur. Seen this awhile back. Daigo is a beast. Insane parrying skills. Too bad I wasn't there.

Is that the Chun-Li vs. Ken (Daigo) match?

My friend sent this to me yesterday. That parry is inhuman.

that was a pretty sweet comeback, those only happen every so often...

It looks more impressive than it is. They got the beatdown they richly deserved for thinking they could just bust off that super from half screen and finish a player of Daigo's caliber with chipping damage. It was bush-league and was exposed as such...though that's not to say that anyone could have parried all those hits. It still wows me in that respect, but I expect a lot of tournament players would have been able to pull of the same thing in that situation.

Yeah, Justin got way too cocky and went for a flashy finish. If he had laid back and waited for Daigo to make the first move, he could've won that match with as much health as he had when the video begins.

You know, neither Justin Wong or Daigo placed 1st in 3rd strike, Justin was 3rd and Daigo got 2nd.

Did the guy playing as ken have to parry all those times or did he just have to do it once to dodge the whole attack?

...Every time.

I'm more impressed to find out that there's people who can parry every hit of her kikoushou super. Now that would be something to see.

WARNING:

Don't watch the video if you like your madness to be adulterated, because "It's unadulterated madness!"

I wish I had of seen that unadulterated madness post before i downloaded the video. I would have forgone it.

That said, it is simply amazing how good that guy is.

When you realize that that's the only game they ever play for years on end it's not that amazing.

While that may be true, there are always going to be those of us who could practice that game for life and never perfect the timing, let alone be able to use it spontaneously in the heat of action. Practice and refinement are elements of skill, it takes work.

why would that not be amazing? michael jordan's played basketball since he was a kid, and he's amazing. that bearded white dude who's the ms pacman/centipede world champion has been playing those games for a long ass time and played for like 3 days straight. i'd say that's amazing. when i'm playing video games, fighting or rpg or whatever, i'm playing with the intentions of not sucking. as gamers, should we not praise such skill?

Praise......well he is good.......but it seems like too much time to spend practicing in one game.

Me thinks it was a Dreamcast. I don't think it was any type of arcade hardware, because as soon as the fight ends, it returns to the player select screen.

I would say the same but with fighting game tournamanets there's usually a lot of money so it's not like just a waste of time. Millions of people play basketball everyday and don't make a dime off of it but they still play right? I don't see why there should be a need to talk that feat down. I can't even parry and this guy parrys every move in that special and even parrys the air attack. And aftrer all that he still had the instinct to get the guy back with a combo that linked to a super combo. All while he didn't even have enough power to block yet while the opponent had 1/3 of his life bar left over. Chun-Li made a bad move though. There was plenty of time left and should have just laid off and throw a few fireballs (does she have any in that game?) and as mentioned, let Ken attack. Awesome highlight though. Should be used as an attract demo.

They were playing on a Supergun, so it was the arcade version.

Parrying is different from blocking in that you take no chipping damage from it and you can get out a counter quicker. It also takes skill and timing to do, as opposed to just holding back to block.

I guess I'm one of the few who just feels uncomfortable watching that.

Come on, I feel bad enough about wasting my life and being a nerd playing this crap too much without seeing videos of nerds congregating in places to watch UBER-nerds go at it.
