I dunno, if you've ever played or watched higher level football. Those linemen are really meaty but they can run like 4.3 40's. I went to a camp in highschool where we practiced with some of the local colleges linemen, and this fat 300 pound guy could outrun our running backs.

Juggernaunt's a badass in MvC2.

I want MvC2 with some GGPO style netcode for anything. Gimme.

I mainly use Hayato, Wolverine, Cable, Iron Man, Teh Juggz, and Venom. And one thing I've always made fun of is Colossus's lack of animation. Mufugga only has like 8 frames of animation or some shit.

So Soulcalibur's comming to XBLA, huh? And after reading the IGN article, it seems to be after SCIV, with no mention of online play. I for one will probably not be buying it, since I already have it and it looks good enough through my VGA box. Add some online and I'll get it. Or totally pimp out the graphics.

Hell, there were barely fatalities in the last MK game, so this news doesn't bother me at all. MK for me died when MK: Armgeddon had a shitload of people, and then they give us some bullshit dial a fatality that made me sell the game the day after I bought it.

as both a comic book and fighting game enthusiast, i gotta say that mortal kombat and the dc universe feels like such a strange combination. marvel and capcom meshed well together, but its hard to see dc and mk have that same kind of chemistry. i'm willing to give it a shot and wait it out before i pass judgment on the game itself, but i will say: if the mk universe ends up becoming one of the multiverses, i'm gonna shit batarangs..

The only game I've spent any real time playing was Real Bout 2 (which is the newest one.) Such a good freakin' game. SNKPUSA's shortcomings aside, Battle Archives 2 is definitely worth picking up.

You pretty much nailed my opinions about all the recent MK games. Deception had alot of content and actually played pretty damn fun and had some short depth. Armageddon just totally got rid of what made deception good and shot itself in the face.

oh and also, if you have yet to download it get River City Ransom on the wii's VC. It's the only thing that made me turn on my wii after the last time I played it... which was about a month after No More Heroes came out.

Actually, I do credit RCR for giving me good platform skills. I remember it used to take me and my friends forever to jump in the warehouse. =)

I had my cool lockdown for the twins using grandslam and a trashcan. Top tier for sure. Actually, jumping on a ledge is top tier for sure because all the enemies stop moving! What an awesome game.

Whats the most reliable way to get away from the fan in Brawl? My friends insist on using items.If they throw it (which is unwise), then block/jump it. If they're whackin' you with it, then try and DI away from it. If they slip up in mashing "A" a million times, you'll get out.

I finally went ahead and ordered not one, but two adapters for the Dreamcast that let me use PS2 controllers, so I can finally get some enjoyment out of those copies of Last Blade 2 and Capcom Vs. SNK 2 that I've got. Really looking forward to it.

Also picked up Metal Slug 6, but that's got nothing to do with fighters.


Still mad excited for SNK Arcade Classics. It actually looks like the date won't slip on this, despite being an SNK title.

I bought an adapter for my DC a long time ago. It lets me use PS and Saturn controllers on my DC, so I love using a Saturn pad and my big ass custom stick with CvS2, Project Justice, and MvC2. It's great. The best purchase I made for my DC, along with my VGA box.

I have the blue and black Radioshack adapter, and it works fine with a Dual Shock 2. It lags like a motherfucker with my custom stick and my Tekken 5 stick though. My custom stick uses a standard, old school Sony PS controller, so it must just hate digital-only controllers or something. I use the Pelican adapters with my PS3 and PC and they are awesome. It's sad that they are discontinued, because they are rock solid.

I think the death of arcades was due to arcades themselves. 25 cents is too little to really maintain and make a worthwhile profit off of a cabinet. Raise it to a dollar, maybe even 50, and people will complain and go elsewhere. I remember when my local arcade raised the price on MvC2 from 25 to 50. Everyone there played elsewhere, I just quit playing. Japan is 100 - 200 Yen per game, which is roughly a dollar to two dollars. Hmm, could that be why they're still alive?

I'm reading this Smash thread where someone wanted to have a tournament where the entry fee was raised from $8 to $12, with included venue fee being bumped from $3 to $4. Everyone complained, saying that it was too much and that the venue was being greedy and profiting off of the poor entrants.

part of it's gotta be the culture. back in the day, everyone played fighting games. it was the hot shit, it pretty much had most of the media coverage, people you knew who you didn't think even played video games knew street fighter.. it's just different now. and it's hard to explain it. everything else is clear cut (desire for lower costs and more availability of comp), but i don't really know what happened with the culture. less players, less media coverage, less games being made. were fighting games just a fad? did the decent-to-shitty players just give up on the grind? do new players really dislike fighting games that much because they lack a rewarding single player experience? maybe fighting games aren't pretty enough. it seems like the prettiest ones seem to be the most popular with casual fighting gamers.

i think that if fighting game scene didn't have the drop-off that it did in the late 90's, arcades would probably be more prominent than they are now, even with online console gaming available.

Don't forget the social aspect of the arcade. In the 80's, it was perfectly natural to drop your kid off in an arcade for hours. Parents slowly realized that most arcades were drunken pedophile central and forbade the kids from going there. I know that's an over-generalization.

I stopped going to arcades because I got tired of the looks from parents when I'd walk in. You could tell that you better have a kid with you if you're going to be over a certain age.

Even in Japan arcades are starting to lose momentum. You guys remember the article a few threads back about Sega & Namco shutting down tons of arcades all over Japan. With that said I don't expect them do die out in the far east anytime soon.

Been a while since I posted in this thread. Haven't played a fighter for a while now. The only one I do play occasionally is Street Fighter HF online. In fact I'm getting rid of a bunch of fighters on my tradelist. If anyone's interested they should take a look.

Arcades are still going strong in Japan. The article was a bit out of context. Sega and Namco are making profit and just decided to close down some of the mom and pop locations carrying the Sega/Namco name.
