I may only be half asian, and I may think rice is crap, but I've been around my mom and her rice cooker enough to know the ratio.

Its really depends on the rice, certain brands I use need 1 to 1 some are 1 to 1.5.. I always buy the 1 to 1 brand but the Filipino store near me sometimes run out and I'd have to settle for the 1 to 1.5 brand.. :P

I usually do 1 for 1, but when I don't have a measuring cup handy I estimate the water level to be good at about a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch above the rice.

Minute Rice is 1 for 1.
But I had non-minute brown rice once and it was like... three cups water to one cup rice. O_o Check the box?

I use the trader joe's frozen brown rice. 3 minutes in the microwave. white rice is worthless.

Wow there's Filipino stores in Illinois?!
Surprising though I know next to nothing about that state.

There are a lots of Flipinos in Illinois all right. Most live in the suburbs.
I think it is also one for one. I'm chinese and rice is our thing.

Another Filipino here. I usually go with 1.5 water to 1 rice but with brown rice - 2 water to 1 rice.
