Do you play hockey games?
If you don't, will you give ESPN NHL 2k5 a shot, since its only $20?
CheapyD wants to know!
I voted for ESPN, by the way.
EGM's scores for NHL 2005 are horrible. ESPN got pretty good scores and is cheap. This is a tough decision. I think I'll go with ESPN. :P

I have a very old hockey game, so I think it is time to update. I've never truely been a hockey fan in real like, though i have bouts where i can never stop watching it, I have always liked the game incarnations of the sport. Besides for $20 (or $15 after GGC) you can't go wrong and we've already seen how good the ESPN Football (i already knew since I had to previous ones in the franchise) so i'm guessing this one's pretty good.

Not much of a hockey fan here. No time to fit it into the schedule anyways.

I don't really like EGM's scoring, because for the past few months it seems that they have been quite off IMO.

I haven't played hockey since NHL '94 on the Genesis - I'm afraid I'd be lost with all the new controls and without the guaranteed wrap-around or juke move goals...

ESPN, since last year it was the better game, and being that I have a $10 off coupon on ESPN games, making it $40 less than NHL, it's an easy choice.

I think Driv3r or some other big game had a much higher score than other sites and mags. I remember that they (also Gamespot) gave Spiderman 2 a 7 for the 3 scores and then IGN gave it an 8.5-9.0 or something like that. One source of info isn't that great if you can find a few others.

Yes quite true, more than one source is ideal. I normally use a mixture of Gamepro, Game Informer, PSM, XBN, and on occasion, EGM or GMR.

Blades of Steel has more street cred' than either NHL 2005 or ESPN 2k5, so I'll stick with BOS.

I've been playing NHL 2004, it's not bad, considering the last time I bought a hockey game was 99. If I didn't get my ass kicked so much(I was good at ice hockey for NES) I'd update more often. But for $20, ESPN it is and I'll be up to date 2 years in a row.

I'm not a hockey fan so I'll go with ESPN, a safe bet for 20$

ESPN because it is a better game. The price is right and Martin St. Louis is on the cover.

I think video game hockey works better with the faster paced, more arcadey feel of the ESPN games. EA hasn't made a good hockey game since 2002.

Hockey is probably my favorite mainstream sports game "series" so I'll probably get NHL 2K5 because PSM gave it and NHL 2005 the same score 8/10.

Last season I went with ESPN, but it was close.
This year at $20 bucks, ESPN shoots and scores!

I'll probably end up getting both, but I normally don't pick up EA NHL till after the season's over. I just like the "witty" commentary from the guys from Rogers Sports Net.
I voted for 2K5, because I'll pick that one up right off the shelf and play leauge play as the defending Pacific Division Champion San Jose Sharks.

IMO the Visual Concepts has always done a better job in the hockey dept., so the $20 price point is a sure lock now.

yeah the last hockey game I got was NHL 2k2 for the DC. It was a fantastic game, so I have high hopes for 2k5. And for 15 after GGC you can't go wrong.

Haven't played a hockey video game since Blades of Steel, even though it's cheap, I probably won't pick it up. Got plenty of unplayed games that I need to get through.

I'm not a hockey fan at all but I do enjoy a well done hockey video game. I haven't gotten one in quite a long time so I think I might pick up ESPN this year.

Neither, I still have NHL 2K3 unopened from when EBGames.com had it for $5 so I won't be buying another Hockey game.
