I just found out today that I got accepted into the University of California Irvine.
Pardon my outdated 1337, but...w00t!
Now I'm just hoping I get similar news from UCLA...

Congrats man. Make sure to get in as much gaming as possible before you start college cause, from personal experience being in my 3rd year, it goes down the tube fast. Good luck.

Just wait until you get to your 4th year, then let the gaming begin!

Thanks, ya'll.
Actually, the gaming will be pretty good if I go to either UCI or UC Davis. My brother goes to UCI and has an apartment where I can stash my PS2 and Xbox, and I know some people at Davis through Xbox Live.
Hopefully gaming won't interfere with my studies.
Oh, wait... I meant to say that hopefully studies won't interfere with my gaming!

Congrats, but I wouldn't recommend gaming too much if you don't want to end up returning for a 5th year of college..
speaking from an engineer's point of view that is =/

Have a blast at school, there's so many cool things you can do. Just don't let anything get you behind in studying or homework (trust me, it is no fun at all).
One thing college will do to you is make you appreciate free time a whole lot more.

Oooooooo yeah that is so true. Sometimes you don't appreciate what you have until it is gone.

Thanks guys.
As for my major, I'm currently undeclared in the School of Social Sciences, but I'm leaning towards either a major in criminology and a minor in psychology, or a major in psychology with a minor in journalism.
I'll flip a coin or something. ;)

Nevermind, since your taking classes from the College of Liberal Arts/Arts, then you should have plenty of free time... it's not like your taking classes from the College of Science.
(I kid, but get used to it... that's one of the huge difference in ciriculums, and Arts Profs constantly make fun of Science Profs, and vice versa.)

JSweeney's right. But seriously art majors don't do shite. My roomate soph year was an art major. Some days he went to bed at 4 in the morning, woke up at 12 for 1 art class.. which was 4 credits. I had 2 4 hour labs that sem at 1 credit each, not to mention 8 and 9:30 classes almost every day. Suffice to say me and him are no longer friends.
Don't worry about free time kid, you'll have a hell of a lot if you're undecided. But Psych is rough, and eventually you'll end up interning at juvenile detention or some place like that. From what my friends tell me -- not fun.

There's a lot you can do with a psych major. Trust me, if dealing with delinquent kids was the only career branch for someone majoring in psychology or criminology, I wouldn't be choosing between the two.
You must be thinking of a shrink.

Noted. I'll be sure to give those art majors a hard time. ;)

Wookie, I think I said interning when I meant coop or work study. My friend had to do that for a class, I think it was behavioral psych. I'm not saying you're going to be doing that, all programs are different. I'm just giving an example. Sorry for the confusion

Congratulations, I did a summer internship at UCI and they have a really nice campus with a really nice rec center.
I also lived in Westwood for a summer and had friends that went to UCLA, Westwood is its own college area in the middle of LA. Fun place.

Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

Looks like UCI's Cheap Ass Gamer population is on the rise. ;)

Thanks.
I toured UCLA and Westood back when I toured UCI's campus. Great place, and there's even an EB Games just a few blocks from the UCLA campus. Gotta have the essentials, eh?

WHOO!!!
UCI, UC Davis, and UCSD, baby!!!
I'm glad this world still rewards diligence and not just pretense. Certainly something to celebrate.
Damn, I'm too excited to even go down to Fry's and pick up Soul Calibur 2 for $14.99...
