Has ANYONE heard any news about this lately? Was it cancelled or what?

If so I'm hoping we can jumpstart it again by getting a LOT of signatures on a petition.

I don't want to dash your hopes, but it can't be neither jumpstarted nor cancelled, since it was never in production in the first place. The lead designer (I think) of the first one said he'd love to do a sequel, but that's the extent of it's status right now as far as anyone knows.

I hope they make one....I LOVED the ship battles, one of the best moments in gaming for me.

I don't know about that. The person I'm citing is Noriyoshi Ohba from this story here: http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q1-2003/031603a.html I'm pretty sure that it's a guy. I could be wrong, but in other interviews about Shinobi the stories say "he."

I doubt Overworks is going to get back to SOA for a while. They have 2 Shining Forces and Shining Tears to complete that have been officially announced, and thus are probably going to come out before SOA2. Also, if I'm not mistake, SOA didn't sell terribly well.

I wish that Sega would make another Skies of Arcadia, but with Sammy taking over I doubt they will.
I bet that if they someday do develope another Skies that it will be cel shaded.

Still the sales of SOAL were enough to convince Sega to make another I get the impression.
I don't even know if I'd bother buying SOA2 if it was cel-shaded. I mean I like it for certain games but it would just feel like a bastardization of the game to me if they did. I just think it would seem too comical looking.

thats idiotic. how do you start this topic like, sol was gods gift to gaming then make that moronic cel-shading comment.

SOAL was a great game, I loved it, but where is the damn challenge in it. All ship battles were automatic wins for me, and the only battles that were challenging at all were the wanted and piastol battles, regular bosses were a joke.

Bottom line I don't think cel-shading would be the smart way to go. If they want to give it an Animeish flavor then take some inspiration from Evolution which looked like Anime put into 3D with polys.
