Still no freakin FCS schools? What the hell man??? My school beats Michigan in Ann Arbor, and wins its 3rd national championship in a row, but yet we're still not in this "next gen" game? There were even rumors we could have potentially been on the cover ("Upset Edition"), but to not even be in the game is just weak. Looks like another year of the PS2 NCAA 07 on my PS3 for me.

I wonder if everyone in an online dynasty has the same rosters downloaded you can use them for the dynasty.
If we do a CAG Online Dynasty we should all pick teams from the same conference so we can play each other in most games and also have fierce recruiting battles. If we all pick teams from mostly different conferences we will never play each other.
The ACC, Big 12, and SEC all have 12 teams. So we can pick out of those three, pending we have 12 interested CAG's.

Basically the same game as last year but with improvements in the right places.
The animations and feel to the players is much better this year.
What else is new, EA can't rate teams at all. FSU is my second favorite team but they do not deserve a 92 and 99. USF is vastly underrated. They are a 79 overall and only a 81 on offense? They are lower rated on defense than ucf? Are you kidding? We beat UCF by 50 + last year

Just saw a sweet animation in the demo. Was punting as OSU, LSU chose to try to block it, so i ran my 1 guy down there alone, lined up the hit and hitsticked the punt returner, my guy dove at his legs, picked him up and kinda like drove him into the ground, a fumble happened during this and i returned it for a td. That was cool.

Little disappointed with A&M's stats, but I'll take what I can get.
I might pick this up next month, downloading the demo right now to give a try. Since the jump to next gen, the players just haven't felt "right", they just feel blocky and not very fluid.

The roster sharing may be similar to 2k's. In college hoops 2k8 there is a roster share menu which shows all of the available roster files. Then you can sort by total downloads, overall rating, or by name.
I'm not too sure if it'll work this way or not, but I can't really think of another way.
Also I'd also be down for the dynasty. Just like Matt, you can pencil me in with Florida. If anyone doesn't want to run the dynasty, I'll get a thread started for one.

Same here. Although I'm wondering how things will work with only 12 players online. If we don't all choose teams from the same conference, most of us wouldn't play each other except in bowl games, right?
We could always do a Big Ten dynasty. I'd be Illinois, and I know there are plenty of Michigan and OSU fans, at least. Notre Dame may be independent in football, but they're the 11th team in the Big Ten in basketball.

Technically yes. He is doing them for operationsports.com and maybe roster share. Like I said, the guy that bought his site is a majorly cheap dbag and he is getting people(and unfortunatly people will pay for it) to go tothe site not knowing whats up. He has openly admitted and he has been caught stealing other peoples rosters.

I think it would be more fun to be schools all across the country and have maybe one or two clashes during the season, but the jockeying for bowl positions at the end of the season for everybody would be cool to see. If it's all just one conference, you'll end up spreading yourselves across the bowl games at the end of the season.

How big of a region though? The conferences already pretty much cover a specific region.
There are six major conferences, right? We could do one where there has to be at least two people in a conference, to prevent cakewalks in a conference, but still have some guaranteed mid-season match-ups between players.

Who knows at this point. All I could assume at this point is that if there is a 4 star recruit QB in New York and Penn State (Big Ten) and Boston College (ACC) are going after them stuff like that would be cool.
There will be players that aren't good enough to garner national attention from schools very far from home but two closer colleges may be more interested.

I DEFNITELY am interested in a division dynasty, no preference on the division though. Maybe the Pac 10 or something, seems like one of the most balanced conferences, either that or the SEC.

I liked Frisky's idea from post #51. Then I started looking at schedules and unless your Ohio State or USC you really aren't playing out of your conference and the only fun we would get out of it would be playing the occasional regular season game, the even more rare bowl game, and recruiting battles.
I think we should find a conference we like and try to get everyone to pick a team from there like the SEC or Big Ten.
For the Big Ten I'll take Michigan. For the SEC I'll take Alabama.

Well other than Illinois I wasn't too sure who I'd want to be in the big 10. I just picked Ohio State since I used them in the demo. I guess other than Ohio State Michigan would be my second pick. Florida is definitely my first choice out of any of the teams though.

You could easily fix that for the second season by requiring everybody to choose two or three user-controlled teams for your out-of-conference schedule, that is if that's an option for the online dynasty mode. Though I don't remember if you had the option to mess around with the schedule before your first season or not in last year's dynasty mode, as well.

If we don't have everyone in the same conference it's going to suck. We are going to play at the maximum 4 games against people in the regular season, one against someone in our conference and three out of conference games (if we can even do that). And if we're lucky another two games if two teams from the same conference make it to the conference championship. And if by some miracle two teams make it to a bowl game together that's a very rare sixth.
FriskyTanuki
06-23-2008, 04:33 AM
You guys seemed to like my idea before, but maybe you're not getting the whole potential. You don't need every conference, nor do they only have to have just two players. We could end up with three conferences (say Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC) and have the twelve spread across those three conferences along with whatever out-of-conference games there will be. If it's just one conference, sure you'll get all MP games in the regular season, but unless a miracle happens, you'll all play single-player bowl games. Plus, somebody gets stuck with an Ole Miss or Northwestern that nobody would really pick unless the good teams are already gone. I get why you'd like that, but there are alternatives that can provide good results, too.
Maybe I'm just the only that see the online dynasty as an amazing melding of a single-player mode with multplayer match-ups in that you can still have single-player games, but also offer multiplayer games for some intense match-ups. I'm more concerned about seeing the big games of the season being played, both match-ups and the bowl game, so I'm just offering a way to make sure the end of the season is more likely to be a an exciting finish, hopefully with mutliple multiplayer games.
I'm thinking we all need to see how the mode works, so I checked the official site and saw this blog post that has PDFs on the entire process of setting it up and all of the options and features that it has, so feel free to download them and get to reading them:
http://www.easports.com/ncaa09/dynasty.jsp?itemID=dynasty_tutorials
Edit: Since it's likely we could have multiple dynasties running, we might as well just start up a poll thread to gauge interest in who wants to get into a dynasty, whether it's conference-specific or not. It could just be a poll that allows checking off options (for multiple options so people can try to join multiple dynasties) and shows who's voted for which of these options:
-National Dynasty (no conference restrictions except my suggestion of at least two users teams per conference and maybe a 2 conference minimum)
-ACC Dynasty
-Big East Dynasty
-Big Ten Dynasty
-Big 12 Dynasty
-Pac-10 Dynasty
-SEC Dynasty
-Other Dynasty (specify in thread)
-I just want to vote and have no intention of joining anything.
And we'd get team lists from people for what teams they'd like to have, in order for ease of picking. Then we can get a list of people for dynasties, 12 at a time, since you need gamertags to populate the dynasty first before actually starting it and sending out the invites. We would also need commisioners to take care of these dynasties and stick with them, though there are ways to get around that, from reading the PDFs, if the commish wants to bail. What do you guys think? This could get really messy

I'll probably commish a Nation Dynasty. There will probably be a few, so there'll need to be others that'll commish the types of Dynasties they'd like to see. Look for a thread in the 360 forum sometime this week to start sign-ups for dynasties.

If we can decide on two major conferences and have 12 committed players I think that would be the best situation. For example; 6 CAG's in the Pac 10 and 6 CAG's in the Big Ten.
Every CAG plays 5 out of 9 conference games versus other CAG's and 3 out of 3 non conference games also versus CAG's. Championship games could potentially give two CAG's another game and then bowl games there is another chance.
Potentially any random CAG can play 10/14 games versus another CAG.

If we have more then 12 I'll commish a dynasty as well. Lets take it by year though. As people buy the game we'll officially decide whether to run a multi-conference dynasty or if we garner enough interest for lets say a Pac 10 dynasty I would be up for either. We are going to have to wait for someone on one of those sports forums to create rosters so we should have a week or two to get familiar with everything.

This is CAG so I'm hoping that everyone knows this, but DO NOT purchase rosters (or a memory card containing edited rosters) for NCAA 09. Using the EA Locker feature you will be able to download rosters from other users directly via the game. Please note that many of the old sites that used to provide free roster downloads (FKrosters, PSXsports & gamerosters) have been purchased by the guy who sells the rosters for profit (Brian Kaldenberg). DO NOT BUY ROSTERS FROM HIM, THE ABOVE MENTIONED SITES OR FROM EBAY.
If you go to this sites:
http://www.fairdale-kings.com/
Getting rosters for NCAA Football has never been easier. Here’s how you use it for the Xbox 360:
On the main menu for NCAA Football 09, click ‘Online’
Then click on ‘EA Locker’
Then enter in the Gamertag: FAIRDALE KINGS
http://www.freencaa09rosters.com (http://www.freencaa09rosters.com/)
or to the forums at Operation Sports, this thread specifically:
http://www.operationsports.com/forums/ncaa-football/255869-ncaa-09-rosters-xbox-360-a.html
you can get all the details how to get these rosters for FREE using the EA Locker feature in game.

Yeah, from what I read over there, it's not custom rosters themselves that are causing issues, it's editing them yourself. The only issue I see with pastapadre's rosters is that FIU has 0-0-15 in play now and I can't say I'll even touch them in an exhibition game. It's not affecting me at all.
The gameplay issues I've seen that they mention are just that it's too easy for quarterbacks to complete passes on your defense on at least AA difficulty, which is frustrating, but I can still win anyway. Nothing else has really been that glaring that I have anything to be pissed about.
I've uploaded his rosters up under my gamertag, for anyone that wants to download them. They're titled MMMM because I didn't realize at the time that I had to enter a new name for them after downloading them.

So what are the problems they are reporting? and do they stem from editing these rosters that you DL from the EA locker or from editing your own? I was just going to put my alma mater in (Pitt) by hand tonight and sort out the EA Locker later , but if that is causing a problem I'll just DL yours and run with them. Thanks for offering though because, they said Pasta Padre's rosters were down so if I can't find them I'll grab them from you when I pick up the game tonight.

Hey Frisky how are those rosters? Are they pretty accurate? I was thinking about getting the Fairdale King rosters. Do they just edit the names or do they change some of the ratings as well? They usually just add player names for the initial release. I believe in the past they tried to keep rosters up to date with create-a-players and adjusting ratings, etc throughout the season, but I'm not sure if anyone is taking this on this season. I'm sure the community at OpSports will do something though.
I usually just get the 1st release and run with those. I'm really not interested in what other people care to add/adjust in the way of new players, new ratings, etc. I just like to have accurate names for the start of dynasty and play now games.
I did download the rosters last night and I can vouch that the Pitt rosters were right on, name-wise. I would assume that most of the other mainstream teams/conferences received the same treatment. I have downloaded Fairdale Kings rosters the past 3 or 4 years and they have been very accurate.
I did have the game Freeze up in the menu's when starting a dynasty, but at that point it was late and I called it a night.

Just a heads up for everyone. A guy who worked on NCAA 09 posted a workaround for the rosters. He said to download the rosters, then immediately turn off your Xbox. Then turn it back on and they should be fine. He may have also said that you shouldn't edit the rosters, but I don't remember.
I would go with DTs rosters for now and I should have the game in about an hour or two.
*edit*
This is the exact post he made on there:
We think we have a workaround for the roster issues until the patch.
After downloading a roster from the EA Locker, immediately reboot your console to clear the memory. Then when you load the roster file you should be ok with it.
You will still corrupt the roster if you make edits to lots of different teams, so back up your files often. I suggest multiple saves instead of saving over the old file. You should be OK making edits to all the players on one or two teams.

I'm not sure what I posted will 100% fix the problem, but Fairdale Kings posted this message on operation sports.
Terrible news!!!
Somewhere between completing Colorado and Colorado State I hit the max limit of players that can be edited.
Florida International has now disappeared.
FAU's ratings are:
0 overall
0 offense
19 defense
I had been using the proposed solution of working offline but that did not help either.
I'd suggest just waiting for a patch.

I believe that only you will see the names of the players if you play online. For the other person to see the names they need a roster file downloaded on their HD to see names.
I tried to delete out my roster files and try out the re-download and restart the 360 trick. Found that Fairdale Kings rosters were not available so I went with EASports com and they looked good too. Didn't have any freezing either.

Quick Question.
I remember in Madden last year you could earn achievements from doing Superstar mode (or whatever the hell they call it now) by having the CPU do all the work. For example, you are a RB but the CPU QB throws for over 300 yards to unlock an acheivement.
Have they taken that out in NCAA 09 Campus Legend? I hope they did, I'm not an acheivement whore and like to really earn my achievements.
And with stadium sounds, can I just plug in my ipod and go from there or do I need to rip to a CD?

Ehh after playing a FULL season I have finally decided that this game needs all the help it can get. It has so many problems I don't even know where to begin. For one the passing defense is non existent. I gave up a 500 yard game to BYU's QB in my bowl game and his percentage was outrageous. I tried Heisman sliders and everything but nothing seems to work.
Recruitting is fucked this year. I had a five star recruit come out with a 76 rating...WTF? A four star recruit with a 84 rating that is one of the best freshman this year. Notre Dame pulled out a damn 90 freshman, CRAZY.
I really don't think a patch will save this game, which is unfortunate. Even if they did manage to patch this game and fix every problem the damage has been done for, and plus the patch would come out after Madden, which I'll be playing almost exclusively.
This year I think is finally the year that will get me to wait on NCAA games and see what problems are or what people are saying about it. This game has a lot of potential but A LOT of problems. Please god don't make Madden 09 this bad!

Yeah, I feel that the game is a bit "odd" feeling to me still. I'm in my bowl game with a 10-1 season with Michigan. My running game was non-existant this year. Plus, I BLEW Ohio State out like 52-14. I know I'm only on the level below Heisman, so I may bump that up for season 2. I still enjoy the game...but it seems odd. I played the sickest game last night. I started a dynasty with Tulsa (just wanted a crappy team), and added Michigan to my schedule in Week 2. After leading 17-6 at the half, they came back to lead 25-23 at the end of the 3rd quarter. I drove down the field to the red zone, but ended up turning it over on a rushed pass. The first play Michigan has the ball, they throw a pick, I return it and get the 2pt conversion, leading 31-25 with 1:30 left. With 0:02 left with the ball at about my 10, I knock down the final pass in the end zone to win it. My heart was thumping like crazy when I got the pick.

I would like to know what sliders you are using and what difficulty you are playing on.
Everything standard-Varsity level, no change in sliders.

Varsity Level? I play on Heisman and I think it's still a bit easy to pass the ball. I am Michigan though...maybe I will start a new franchise eventually.

I really don't know what to think of this game. Xplay gave it a 2 out of 5, but then EGM declares it game of the month. So how good (or bad) is it?

It's a pretty darn good game....not sure what XPLAY bitched about, they never have good reviews though.

Something like Sliders not working...it just hard to imagine why they would even release a game with it not working. "Hey guys, lets try moving at least one thing on the slider menu to see if it even changes a thing." "Nah, it'll be fine, just ship the thing."

I just got an update when I popped the game in. Could it be the patch?

It's just the roster patch. Not the big update patch.

BISTAAAAAAAAAH,
I've invested A LOT of time in this game. It has many great points and I've read my fair share of people complaining about this game. Sure it has problems but you really don't see too many people posting good things about this game. I think it gets a bad rap so I thought I'd post some of my favorite things about this game and see if anyone else agrees or whatnot.
Here we go...
1. "A lot of people will look at this as runnig up the score, however I'm sure the coach will just tell you he's running his offense."
Without this POWERFUL line from Herbstreit that is repeated OVER AND OVER every time you score, I would never know what "suicidal thoughts" are.
2. "That blows any chance of a comeback"
This is the follow up line to one after a failed attempt at an onside kick. These commentators have inspired me to be EXTREMELY optimistic and I like that. I can be beating a team by 200 points yet they still believe if my opponent had gotten their onside kick they could have come back in 90 seconds. That's a life long lesson there in disguise for our youth.
3. Can't be Stopped MODE:
When the computer just can't be stopped on a single possession, anyone who has played this knows what I'm talking about. As I mentioned in 2 this game had made me aware that I need to be more optimistic and positive. A lot of people don't like this but when it happens to me I almost feel like I've unlocked something SECRET. It happens about once a game so it's kind of nice to see it come out and play.
4. High CPU completion accuracy... This is cool and realistic I watched SEVERAL FCS NORTHWEST Thunder games last year and the QB usually averaged about 90% passing. EA must have been watching as well because this is one of the few things they got right.
5. SAME REF for all games.
I really feel as I have a relationship with the ref in this game. He's very loyal as he always shows up for all of my games. If EA would have put more than one in the game it just wouldn't have been the same. I also like how EA keeps him out of harms way as he's never on the field. I would hate for a big HB to run him over and get injured... =(
6. FINALLY MY MOST FAVORITE PART ABOUT THIS GAME.....
BOWL GAMES. When playing in a bowl game there is no paint in the end zones. This is how EA separates the BIG bowl games from the normal everyday games that we play during the season. I used to think "how FUCKING hard is it to put the teams name in the god damn fucking endzone" but I realize this is how they distinguish it from the regular season games. I like it a lot better this way. Plus when I score all I want to do is grab a lawn mower and cut some grass.
Thanks for such a glorious game. There are tons more things I LUV but this game, but this is long and it's taking aways from myne playing time.

I was wondering what some of the best recruits any of you have gotten/scene in the game. I was scrolling through the players after my first year of my dynasty and saw that Notre Dame had a damn 92 safety!!! I've also noticed a lot of my four star guys are better than the five stars. I have a sophmore 4 star guard who is a 92 but a 5 star freshman redshirt who is a 79....WTF? Just wondering about everyone's recruiting within the game.

That is the EA catch up AI. It is in all of their games, it is just something that you have to deal with. I can't remember the last EA game that I played that didn't have it.

I wish all the developers at EA could learn from the team that made NHL 08 and 09. They made a great game with great upgrades last year and they are continuing this year. Same with NBA 09 this year. That new adaptive AI they are implementing is amazing. And yet the Madden and NCAA teams just roll along with a marginal feature set

Would a CAG that still has this set me up with the rosters that have all the names of the players of all the schools? I just picked it up. I wanna start my dynasty. Thanks.

And what's that other option you mentioned? Sorry for the questions. I only had time to play a few exhibition SP games tonight. I wasn't able to look into the online stuff.

Just go to the EA Sports Locker part of the XBL menu and you should have the option to enter in a gamertag, if they're not on your friends list, to be able to download the rosters.

Sorry to bump this old thread but I just got the game with a new 360. I finally got the game to stop freezing every few minutes by installing it so I finally made it to the first game in campus legend.
Whenever I try to view the pass routes in an actual game, after the play is called it is nearly impossible since they act like a flag in the wind. Even the red arrow showing where the QB will drop back shifts constantly. I don't have this problem in practice events. Is this how it is supposed to work or is my game just messed up?
The fact that it freezes constantly during loading usually after the 2nd or third event makes me lean towards a bad copy, but I didn't know if this was a "feature".

It's been awhile since I sold this game, but I think that's part of the "away game atmosphere". All the crowd noise is supposed to affect your composure and whatnot.

Yes, this is correct. Whenever the away crowd is pumped up, your passing routes will be totally scrambled. It's best to know the play before you break the huddle.

Wow, when did they start implementing that feature?
The last version I played was 05 and I heavily relied on looking at my pass routes before the play.
