Yeah, this question is a bit vague. and I know you know how to make a poll, you've done it before.

Seems appropriate that the poll is missing since my answer was bound to be 'None of the above.'

It appears that he double posted the topic, and for whatever reason this one doesn't have the poll options.

Well, I usually just smash buttons. I know a few moves that have been the same since the street fighter days. down, down right, right
I like to unscrew the tops off carefully, lick the creamy centers, and then re-apply the caps so that I can dunk 'em in milk till they soften. That, and I also like to trash-talk the opponent, to add that extra touch of spice.
(I kinda like this thread better without a poll, anyways. The poll options in general seldom represent my way of thinking. Obviously, most of you guys operate on a different wavelength than I do.)

You guys are being a little heartless, maybe he really doesn't know how to play fighting games.
The object in most fighting games is to either kill or knock the other opponent out. You accomplish this by pressing the buttons assigned to the punch and kick commands. Some games have more than one punch and or kick command, like hi punch or low punch etc. Read the instruction manual that comes with your game for the particulars.
That should get you started, Good Luck

... is this for your own knowledge to see how others play or just something you can pick up from?
look at the command list and press buttons like them thats what i normally do and just play enough you'll remember the combos just fine and the moves would be natural to you .. or just go all out and button press like crazy but yea i just errr press buttons?

I"m a throw whore, throws are normally faster than normally attacks, so if you know the safe window between their attacks, you can jump in and throw them. Or you can just attack them regularly until they block, then throw them.

I'm one of the so-called "button mashers" that everyone hates. Yes, I am too freaking lazy to memorize combos. Not only that, but I hate doing it. So I press lots and lots of buttons and occasionally win.
Ironically, I've beaten several fighting games this way.

Basically, I just think of the simplest move that would be right for the occasion, for example:
While playing with Asteroth in Soul Calibur 2, the character I am fighting is far away from me, so I decide to charge at them and push, but then at the last second, I fake them out, sidestep, and give them the axe uppercut (as I call it). Many say that I button mash, but every move i do is carefully planned out. I'm not into these crazy combos, or 8-hit ultra moves.
and that is why i don't like Virtua Fighter
