I got work this week, but I know that me and Arikado would be more than happy to clean up that ugly smirk in ya'lls sigs. I get off work this friday around 4-ish, and if things work out, I'll be ready to play around 6-ish. All Pacific time, of course.

*cries* I sha'nt forgive.

Now, I'll be happy to play tomorrow, anytime after 7PM MST works for me. :) Hope you two are ready for a pummeling.

Oh, and guys, I flipped a coin for the one match that went unplayed. Calcium Fortified Apple Juice Moves on!

The SHOW US YOUR GOO match should take place within the next hour. :) Once goo gets back home, we'll start. If he's for some reason unavailable in the next half hour, David is online, so we'll play (if that's okay with David).

Smashville is fun and it didn't lag much at all (compared to how that scrolling background on FD does). Daisydog had to go asap, and I already made us late by getting locked out of the house >.<''

Sorry I bailed on Shadow Moses, on the 1v1v1... I didn't think it would end the game. I wanted to plug in Mario Kart and tried to just drop out.

:bouncy::bouncy::bouncy: At any rate, good games Kyle/Dastly.:bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

Okay, now that I've calmed down a bit (I was LITERALLY jumping around the basement), here's the battle results.

@ Yoshi's Island: Joe's Mad Goo!!! (R.O.B. and Dedede) d. SHOW US YOUR MOVES (Falco and Lucario)

This one was pretty evenly matched. Beef was eliminated first, leaving me and Goo to finish off Kado's Falco. We got him down to one life before I was killed, leaving a two-life R.O.B. versus a one-life Falco. Goo took him down, but not without some trouble.

@ Final Destination: Joe's Mad Goo!!! (R.O.B. and Dedede) d. SHOW US YOUR MOVES (Falco and Kirby)

Okay, this was crazy. The match quickly swung in SUYM's favor. I was eliminated first, leaving a one-life Goo to deal with both Kado and Beef. The odds are not in Goo's favor. Goo manages to eliminate Beef, leaving the same match-up from the previous round. This time, the two are evenly matched. Kado manages to rack up R.O.B. to around 190%, while being at 140% himself. Goo and Kado exchange projectiles, and at one point, Falco even gets R.O.B. in a grab. But guess what? Goo retaliates, hitting Kado with a B-Air, eliminating Falco! 2v1? No problem for Goo!!!

@ ?, we got beat. But I was too distracted from my love for evergoo, so I don't remember the details.

Fuckin' stupid of me to try to usmash BOTH times against ROB's nair in the first round and bair in the second. Guess I overestimated Falco's priority. I was feeling it that first round, too, after Joe's last stock got knocked out. Thought I might have been able to pull the comeback off. In the second round, I thought Goo was going to dodge and then land, so I went for the usmash and ate that bair instead. Falco has a stronger throw, that second round would've been over on more than one occasion.

Hate to lose in a heartbreaking fashion like that, but shit happens. We're still alive though, so we'll hopefully see you guys again soon after making some adjustments.

Good games, and good luck the rest of the way.

Great games, guys.

I don't actually have the running life tally though.

EDIT: Peachachu won 3-0...if you don't count the first game (that wasn't set to Team Battle)

If you count that, we were 2-1. Somebody will have to fill in the lives, if they can.

Yes, I'm one in the same - I tried to add David (if that was you, Mad D), but it wouldn't let me. I'm going to bed, but I'll add you in the morning. My FC is in my sig.

BTW - Your Kirby is nasty - I'm glad I didn't face it in the tournament.

zitanix
06-01-2008, 02:38 AM
Mad D, yeah, wjhard63 = James.

Fallmoon, I didn't play Olimar because Blue usually plays him, and a team of Olimar and a slightly lighter colored Olimar with 12 pikmin running around gets kinda confusing. I went with DK because he's the heaviest hitter I feel comfortable with, and since samus has about 3 kill moves, I thought I should use someone with power. Guess I know better for next time!

:whee: (RED) vs. SHOW US YOUR MOVES (BLUE)

Round 1
:whee: (Link, Mr. Game and Watch) vs. SHOW US YOUR MOVES (Falco, King Dedede) on Smashville
This one was pretty lopsided in our favor. :whee: just could seem to get going and I think there were a few botched recoveries that resulted in a KO.
6-1, SHOW US YOUR MOVES wins

Round 2
:whee: (Link, Pikachu) vs. SHOW US YOUR MOVES (Falco, ROB) on Final Destination
This one was much closer. suko switched to ROB, and dyeknom switched to Pikachu, which caught us both offguard. Pika spammed a bunch of thunders on the edge, and amidst all of the chaos, notched him a few KOs. It came down to ROB against Link. ROB was already at a sizable disadvantage, but managed to rack up a bit of damage. In the end, Link took him out.
6-5, :whee: wins

Round 3
:whee: (Link, Pikachu) vs. SHOW US YOUR MOVES (Falco, King Dedede) on Final Destination
suko switched back to Dedede for this one, and it turned out to be a good move. He had a couple of big hammer KOs that swung the momentum in our favor. Pikachu was back spamming thunder on this one, but we were able to adapt and punish. With both of our characters able to chain throw, we were able to wrack up damage quick whenever we got dyeknom and Daisydog separated.
6-2, SHOW US YOUR MOVES wins

FINAL: 2-1, SHOW US YOUR MOVES wins.

Good games, :whee:. You caught us both off guard in that second round and earned that victory. Thanks for sticking around for the games afterwards as well, including the one with the smash balls turned on. Sorry about that double grab thing with Wolf and Mario... we wanted to see it in action.

...and the long road to the finals for SHOW US YOUR MOVES continues.

I know I had two SDs in the first round, but I didn't really expect any different given the connection (My DSL is no better, though). The G&W recovery, with high latency, ends up transforming itself into a Judgment with the move queue and dropping him like a rock. lol. I don't really like pika-spamming, but the after-effects of casting his Down attacks, with latency, are about the most effective thing for me to do.

Oh well, alls for the best. Good luck the rest of the way. Sorry for bailing after Yoshi's Island... I wanted to go back to playing on a local multiplayer.

And for me it takes three tries just to go through one! On Battlefield I spend half my time just trying to get to the bottom of the stage. Then as soon as I get there I get punched in the air again.

But I try not to complain about it too much...

I actually prefer stages with platform because it requires a completely different strategy other than spam-a-thons.

You're really good.

It's amazing how we never played against each other yet.

Well, we made it. Looks like Joe's Mad Goo!!! puts the previously undefeated Peachachu into the loser's bracket. Here are the results:

Game 1 @ Battlefield: Joe's Mad Goo!!! (Dedede and R.O.B.) d. Peachachu (Meta Knight and Pikachu)

Game 2 @ Final Destination: Joe's Mad Goo!!! (Dedede and R.O.B.) d. Peachachu (Zero Suit and Pikachu)

Game 3 @ Smashville: Peachachu (Zero Suit and Kirby) d. Joe's Mad Goo!!! (Dedede and R.O.B.)

Overall Winner: Joe's Mad Goo!!!

Man, we never win our third matches. GGs, Peachachu! I'd play more, but I'm expected at a friend's house. Let's play again soon!

GGs to Peachachu and Joe. IMO, those matches were pretty crappy and anti-climatic due to the lag. It took our entire group 4 or more disconnections before we finally got it settled, and then in Game 4, Joe got disconnected.

Here are some details to the matches. The others can pitch in if they'd like.

1. Joe's Mad Goo!!! (6) d. Peachachu (4): We were up the whole time but the stocks were pretty even. It eventually came down to Joe's Mad Goo!!! double teaming against Rig's Pikachu.

2. Joe's Mad Goo!!! (6) d. Peachachu (5): This was the laggiest match out of the set. Both FallMoon and I suicided ourselves due to lag and we weren't even near opponents! In the end, Joe and Rig face off one another but Joe has the advantage w/ 2 stock and inevitably finishes him off.

3. Peachachu (6) d. Joe's Mad Goo!!! (4): I died early leaving Joe alone (2 stocks) against FallMoon (1) and Rig (1). I tried to steal Joe's life to help him out but the game wouldn't let me (how do you really?). Anyways, Joe was eventually gang-raped. Sorry dude for failing on the last two games.

I think it's A + B on a Wavebird/GC controller...if that's what you were using.

We must've lost because we went against our team name. We aren't MetaChu or SamChu! (Though, I think MetaChu has a nice ring to it.)

Here are some details to the matches. The others can pitch in if they'd like.

1. Joe's Mad Goo!!! (6) d. Peachachu (2) (I distinctly remember looking at our stock count as we were taunting "Joe's Mad Goo!!!" for the win - we had four lives left): We were up the whole time but the stocks were pretty even. It eventually came down to Joe's Mad Goo!!! double teaming against Rig's Pikachu. We had four stocks left to Rig's two when the double-teaming began, and we were relentless. And so was our taunting. Of special note, Meta Knight had two shuttle-loop related suicides. And zero kills. Sad day.

2. Joe's Mad Goo!!! (6) d. Peachachu (5): This was the laggiest match out of the set. Both FallMoon and I suicided ourselves due to lag and we weren't even near opponents! In the end, Joe and Rig face off against one another but Joe has the advantage w/ 2 stock and inevitably finishes him off. I was especially proud of shutting down the Spamchu-mobile before it even started in our 1v1. My Waddles can be turds, huh?

'Tis okay. :D I knew, to win, I had to take Kirby out of the picture, which just didn't happen. I so wanted to pull an evergoo too. Oh well. If they deliver on their promise to meet us in the finals, I'll be sure to show them the what for.

I fixed and added a couple details. :)

06-13-2008, 07:32 AM
Thanks for fixing my mistakes. Lol. I usually don't pay attention to exact details except who won.

But was it really 6-2 for Game 1? I remember being very confident near the end game but I don't recall the game being that lop-sided.

In the event that I'm out and you're still alive, don't go killing yourself so you can have only 1 stock and pull a miracle. You ain't me!

Yeah, we'll most likely need an extension. I've got my work schedule ironed out now, but Suko and Beef aren't going to be around today from what they've told me. Tomorrow may be up in the air as well.

And to Kado's suggestion: I agree. This was a fun venture into unknown territory, but I think sticking to singles will be best for our collective sanity. FULL BATTLE REPORT

So we started off our games - as intended - in teams. We had a few games that got disconnected before we actually finished a very laggy game.

Joe's Mad Goo (King Dedede and R.O.B.) d. Peachachu (Meta Knight and Kirby) @ Battlefield - This game was extremely laggy. So, honestly, I don't remember much. We exchanged blows until Rig was knocked out. At that point, Goo and I each had two lives to FallMoon's one. She went on the offensive against Goo, and shuttle looped him far off the stage. Unfortunately, she landed perfectly in front of me to finish her off with a forward smash. Game!

After several more failed attempts to get a game completed, we agreed to do duels and let the outcome of those determine the championship. I faced off against FallMoon. Here are the results.

JoeB1233 (King Dedede) d. FallMoon (Meta Knight) @ Final Destination - This was a pretty nice match. I managed to annoy the crap out of Meta Knight by throwing a million Waddle Dees. Fortunately for me, I threw three Gordos that happened to penetrate Meta Knight's tornado/drill. I'm pretty sure that those put me over the top. In addition, Meta Knight lost a life by mis-spacing a shuttle loop.

JoeB1233 (King Dedede) d. FallMoon (Peach) @ Final Destination - More of the same here. I threw about a million Waddle Dees at Peach, slowing down her float game severely. And now being able to chain throw, I was pretty comfortable. I managed to take her down to her last life before losing my first. I don't remember quite how the match ended, but it was 2-0 at the end.

FallMoon (Olimar) d. JoeB1233 (Ness) @ Final Destination - This was pretty close. My Ness game is pretty limited, so FallMoon was doing pretty well at letting me come to her and then punishing. I lost the first life before taking FM's first with a spike. After that I pulled ahead briefly before being punished severely by FM. I don't really remember how, but it came down to my last life versus hers, and, well, she won. That was a nice game! :applause:

In goo's duel with Rig, goo won 3-0. And, with that, it looks like the winner of this tournament is:

Thanks to EVERYONE for participating in this tournament!

Sadly, that's a crappy way to end this tournament. I don't think we can do anymore tournaments until Nintendo fixes their problems.

I think a 1v1 tourney might be tolerable, but anything more than that is simply inconceivable at this point. It really is sad - hopefully Nintendo has an upcoming solution.

'Twas me! I hosted, so, I give!

Agreed! Thanks, guys, for sticking this out until the end! I know it was pretty slow there at the end, but at least we had some fun, ya? :D I'm glad to have hosted this tourney with evergoo - who, by the way, deserves high praise. He played extremely skillfully, oversaw the bracket, and helped with a lot of the decisions. So, thanks goo! :applause: Couldn't have done this without you!

Mad D and evergoo, let me know which 1000 point Wii game you'd like!Oh no no, I'll give my half to Marc. I felt like I didn't participate enough (wish I could have in the earlier rounds like we agreed but all those scheduling problems got in the way when the tournament started, what back in May?). Anyways I just got back from seeing The Dark Knight and need some sleep, I'm sure Marc won't mind my decision. Very nice of you to donate those points Joe.

Congratulations! :applause:
You guys are impossibly tough! Enjoy those points :bouncy:

Lag wasn't too unbearable for me. The stress of getting everyone together was the worse part, but I still had loads of fun. Team :whee: went way farther that I expected us to go

Joe, I think you deserve the most applause for your tremendous efforts in organizing this tourney :applause:. Honestly, you did most of the dirty work (gathering 16 teams, lots of PMs, deadlines, forfeit decisions, etc.), whereas I was just there for support.

Competition-wise, I think we picked up for each other's slack. I saved us from SHOW US YOUR MOVES and you returned that favor against PEACHACHU when I played poorly. I still won't forget that miracle I pulled off against Arikado and Mr. Beef.

Regarding the prizes, I think we already rewarded one another awhile ago with the Dr. Mario gifting ;).

I'm starting to wonder if it's EVER going to get fixed. The lag hasn't really improved any since the game first came out, and you could argue it's getting worse - it used to be that friend matches weren't too bad but the random matchups were virtually unplayable. Now, they're both lagfests.

I had no idea the tournament was still going on. Congrats to Joe's Mad Goo, and I'll try to put up a better fight and not lose so quickly if and when we give it another go. :)
