I won 1,000 MS points? Is this a scam?

Today i got a letter that says i won 1,000 MS points.

Congratulations! As the official judging organization for the XBOX LIVE "Best RPGs" Sweepstakes, we are please to announce that you have been selected as a First Prize Winner

It says i won 1,000 points worth 12.50. Gives me two codes to enter into my 360. Says the codes are only good till June 30th, 2008. After i redeem the points they have no expiration.

At the bottom it says

On Behalf of Microsoft Corporation we thank you for your participation and wish you continued good fortune.

Seems a little fishy to me. I dont really remember entering a contest, and never heard of this Marden-Kane. There is a URL on the paper that says i can go to it for further details on entering the codes. Any idea what this is?

Nevermind i looked into the play and win games at XBox.com and sure enough my gamertag is on the list of first place winners. Wow.

Sorry ive already used them...bringing my total to 4570. Largely due to the Halo pre order + 3 XBLP cards for 5 bucks each scam at best buy. :D Gunna need them when GTA IV DLC comes rolling in. Thanks for the congrats everyone, i forgot i even entered that contest. I happen to download the Free Castle for oblivion to meet a requirement to enter the contest, even though i dont even have the game. I guess i had to download some kind of game add on to one of those role playing games, which i dont even own any of them. heh.

So I see that number, "1,000," and I'm like, "wow, that's a lot." Then I remember that 1600 points is only 20 dollars, and I was not so impressed.

The nifty thing is that all prize winners are thrown into another drawing for more prizes. So he also has a 2% chance of winning either a 12-month XBL subscription, a LE Mass Effect 360 Elite system, or a trip to San Diego Comicon.
