Does anyone think the PSP will see a price drop soon? I've been considering upgrading from a phat to a slim a lot lately but since its not a necessity I'm wondering if anyone thinks a price drop is imminent? I know the system has been selling better lately. I'm also wondering if they'll offer any non-black psp systems without the bundles.

I doubt it. The only new hardware news that I've heard of are the new Red PSP God of War bundles. Other than that, no word on anything else.

Sony will not drop the price of the PSP slim anytime soon. It's actually doing better compared to before, and since Sony wants to make up for loses on PS3 (especially early on), they'll want to profit on PSP as much as they can. At the earliest, I see a price drop in September, but at the most, it would be $20.

Possible they pack in game instead drop price or drop it down $149.99. Who care any way i'll get RED PSP next month w/ God of War & Trade-in God of War.

Something else that makes it even less likely is the speculation by industry analysts (yeah, yeah, I know - but they may actually have a point here, maybe) that, if the economy continues in the direction it is going (and it sure looks like it will), and if that results in people not buying $350-400 consoles, they suspect a sluggish economy will spurn a 360/PS3 price drop sooner than either company wants to.

If they do that, they'll want to make up the money elsewhere, which in Sony's case would likely include the PSP.

i dont see a drop in the system happening anytime soon.. the bundles make it worth the money you spend but its the games/movies that drop in price, not the system

we wont see a price drop for these things unless a PSP Anorexic is due out

No kidding. Who has the money these days to spend 400 bucks on a console, then 60 bucks a pop per game? Prices need to start dropping on EVERYTHING soon, otherwise shit's gonna start gettin' bad.

Prices need to start dropping on EVERYTHING soon, otherwise shit's gonna start gettin' bad. It's going to be hard to drop prices in the U.S. especially, since the value of the dollar continues to go downhill. Gas prices, food, and many other things are going up these days in the U.S. It sucks because the Yen/Euro/GBP/etc. continue to get stronger, so console manufacturers can get more from those countries.

It's terrible because prices need to drop to sell more, but at the same time, since the value of the dollar continues going down, just very difficult to sell lower and be able to profit (or at least break even) in the U.S.

Well ain't that a shit sandwich for the multinational corporations?

Do we drop in price, or do we not sell anything?

Exactly... Life's short and hard, like a bodybuilding elf. It's going to bite into their "break even" strategies, for sure.

A price war fueled by something other than a pissing contest between multinationals is going to be interesting, to say the least. ;)
