...well it's certainly not nearly as good looking as Super Mario Galaxy or Ratchet and Clank Future, but maybe it'll come together better as we see more screens!

Rare isn't very good at making games.
The best they did was Donkey Kong Country 1-3.
How come Nintendo doesn't have the rights to BK?

surely that was sarcasm.

They have definitely lost their touch since the 64 days. Looks like Banjo Twisted Metal in planes with just those two shots.

Because Microsoft owns the rights now. Nintendo never owned the characters or anything.
Honestly I could care less, RARE stopped being good the minute they left Nintendo. I'm hoping this game will change things though.
surely that was sarcasm.Nope, it's got that stale technically good looking graphics going for it. But really, Ratchet and Clank beats it graphically and artistically, and when compared to Super Mario Galaxy, it's no where near the same league artistically. I'm really disappointed, I didn't expect it to be better looking than the two, but I expected it to be a little more impressive knowing RARE.
Maybe these aren't the best shots though...
Short Round

Is it going to be any good? No probably not.
Am I excited for it anyways? Definitely.

The visuals shown in those screenshots completely blow ANY SMG graphics out of the water. R&C Future looked nice, but this game is looking incredible:drool:

Yea, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and so many other titles developed by them were complete pieces of shit, right? And, Rare owns the IP of Banjo-Kazooie.

Agreed.
This makes me so pumped for the actual game. Can't wait!

Wait, what? This game looks amazing. How can one even compare it to Mario Galaxy; this looks like its in a whole different league. Doesn't look as good as Ratchet and Clank though, but it comes close.
Also, lol at the chain chomp.
Also, Kameo and Viva Pinata were quite good so I have faith in this game as well.

How long ago was that? Atari used to be pretty bad ass too.

Did you read what I quoted? The pointed wasn't how long ago it was  Oh, and recently, Viva Pinata was incredible.

Just a reminder of what Super Mario Galaxy looked like:

The graphics are really good, but c'mon... how can anyone expect a half decent game from these people?

A lot of people like to say that Rare has lost their touch, but I just think that those people aren't looking for the kind of experience that Rare games offer anymore. Maybe they've outgrown them or something, but Perfect Dark Zero was so-so, Kameo was good, Viva Pinata was great, and I think Banjo will be a very solid platformer.
Those screenshots just look like fun.

Man, and I thought I was the going to be the only one not looking forward to this because it was a Rare game.

I dunno if that's it... I mean, I still really like the original 3 Donkey Kong Country games, but I remember being horribly disappointed by stuff like Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Kazooie, and Conker, even though those didn't come out that long after the DKC trilogy. The collectathon game design just isn't enjoyable, and that's basically all they seem to want to use for this type of game.
Visuals look great.
I have little to no faith in Rare, though would always liked to be proved wrong.
I *hate* the character designs.

Those screens look amazing!!! And whoever says that Ne w Rare is awful is wrong. Kameo was great and Viva Piņata was so detailed, addictive, and the music was fantastic. The next Banjo Kazooie game will be great.

Those games were ok, but they're not games a company can ride on for 10+ years.
These shots don't even compare to R&C Future. They're filled with detail yes, but the detail is there to compensate for the piss poor design.
Overall, this will probably not even surpass SMG in terms of how effective the graphics are.
That said, the graphics of the original Banjo game hold up pretty well, despite the fact that the designs are lame and the game itself a chore.
It's silly to bash a game before it's done yes, but Kameo controlled like a PS1 platformer despite its decent textures.
Count me in the "I expect weaksauce" camp. Rare hasn't made an honest-to-goodness GOOD game (not "meh," "awright if you can find it cheap," or "it's not *that* bad") in forever. Sure, Viva Pinata was probably the best thing they've done in a decade, but that's not saying much. Starfox Adventures? Grabbed by the Ghoulies? Conker: Live and Reloaded? Kameo? Perfect Dark Zero? If Microsoft really wanted to buy they best developers of platformers outside Nintendo, they should have bought Insomniac.
And I agree with the OP, too: graphically, sure, there's more horsepower here, but Galaxy looked clearer and had better art design.

Honestly, I was impressed by the screenshots.. I think the game is going to be good. I don't know what happened to Rare's reputation, but I don't want to prejudge a game based on Rare's new rep. Give the game a chance.

I'm looking forward to banjo 3, because the banjo's on the N64 where great platformers. But at the same time, I hope they don't bastardize the series with this iteration.
I'd much rather have info on KI3 than anything else right now anyway.

Looking at just these two shots, I can unequivocally say that the entire game has lousy art design and will suck ass. Rare sucks, Microsoft sucks, everything sucks.
