You can get a 500GB for $100 nearly ever other week. Sometimes $109, but there are always coupons to be had/used (10% off, $10 off $100, etc.).

Sometimes it's cheaper to just get a regular HDD and put it in an enclosure yourself. I got a 500GB Maxtor SATA II for $80 and an enclosure for $9 about 6 months ago at Fry's.

There have been two made for ps3 external hard drives at my closest best buy for a few months. They are 160GB on clearance for $52. I still want to bite, but I don't really need one at the moment.
