Ok, so from what I've gathered in using several phones and observing online, I want the Moto Q 9c but it is no longer an option on the sero site. I have seen it at my local Sprint RE-seller, (not the actual Sprint store). Is it a possibility to get a centro through the online and take it in to the Sprint reseller store and have them swap them out for a Q 9c?

I'm new to this thread. What emails are people using these days to sign up for this offer?
Is everyone still using the one posted in the OP with success?

That's great!
I need to have a talk with my mom about this plan.
Right now she's paying 130 a month on a Verizon family plan, 3 lines, 1400 minutes.
She would be saving 40 bucks a month, easy. Plus, we'd have a total of 1500 anytime minutes every month. And I'm in for a phone upgrade too.

I am happy to provide my work E-mail if needed for people to sign up for the SERO plans, as they are clamping down on the generic addresses, and recent layoffs may make some of the ones posted from SlickDeals invalid. Send me a PM, I'm not quite willing to post it out here in public, but very willing to help in any way I can regarding Sprint.

I PM'ed this guy, just giving him a heads up if he's still active and wants a referral if he's checking this thread too. I gotta do it tomorrow though really, so I hope he checks his PM's or is on, otherwise I'll just have to use a random one.

Heads up, there are rumors that there will be new SERO plans on july 13 and the $30 500-SERO plan will get a higher pricer. So act quickly.

well I purchased 2 centros yesterday (one for me, one for my girlfriend) its my first cell phone in a while (the prices were exorbinant for what I use it for.. i don't call many people) but the price is cheaper then the landline + 1 cell we currently have.. i'm really more intrigued with the web browsing being able to CAG at work or school and you have to have that unlimited data plan for that..

Thanks for the info homeland I just did a little research after reading that. This info comes from user "Next Steps" on HowardForums:

As others have said, I'm also stoked to have gotten in on this plan before the change, and everyone holding off for more phone options or are on the fence should get in now!

I was under the impression that text and GPS were included in SERO. Can somebody clarify?

If both are in, I'll definitely jump on board. If not, I'll still probably do it.

If the phone you get has GPS, than its included. And yes unlimited text is included as well.

Just had my first experience with spring service representatives. My order was on backorder, so I wanted to select an alternate phone. I call the number listed in the e-mail that was specified for me to call to select an alternate phone. I reach CSR #1. I give her the information then she tells transfers me to some other department. I get cut off. I call back and reach CSR#2. This guy tells me that because I am applying for a SERO plan I would have to call a special department. He even gives me the number to call in case I get disconnected again.

What a surprise I get disconnected, but here's the funny part. That motherfucker gave me the number to cancellation. WTF. I called and CSR#3 was talking to me like I was a jackass for calling the cancellation department. She transfers me to sales. I think I got disconnected again.

I finally reach CSR#4 and she seems very competent. She tells me that she can't cancel my account, but her supervisor will in some hours. I didn't quite hear her. So basically I just wasted my fucking time. Why wouldn't they just let me change my phone. I dont want to wait 2 weeks for another phone. The SERO plan is the only reason why I am dealing with this.

I ordered a replacement phone for my ocean via warranty so I could sell it. I have to send my current phone back and can't activate the new one obviously. I need a phone asap.

I never got disconnected, but trying to change phones is a bitch apparently. They have to cancel the order than redo it or something. A few pages back, some guy went though crap to do that I think, so I figured I would just wait. Took about a week or so from when I ordered it to finally receive it. Totally worth the wait though. Cheap plan, pretty much everything unlimited, and I got a Centro. Which I love.

Just bear with it I would say.

they didn't explain it to you? Your first bill will be for your first 2 months... after that you'll be paying for 1 month. So right now you are paying for July/August .. in August you'll be paying for September. Basically unlike how verizon is, which you pay in june for what you did in may, Sprint has you pay a month in advance.

I actually think your first bill depends on your credit. My first bill came in today and they charged me $5 for the time I had the phone in June, and then the regular $30 plus fees and taxes for July, totalling $47. Never had to pay 2 months in advance.

It's probably current month, prorated, and next full month. I think that's the way the cable company does it as well.
So it looks like the Centro is the current recommendation, based on a balance between price and features? What is the difference between Vision and Power Vision, and what exactly are either of those?

my red centro is still back ordered.. darn them.. (i already confirmed that I am getting the sero deal no matter when it comes.. but for my rebate the box has to be postmarked today or tomorrow.. grr)

my GF got her Pink centro a few days ago and its definately pretty cool..

but then again "cool to me" may not be cool to you guys, i'm very much NOT a cell phone person in general but this deal was not only better than any one out there currently it did a lot more then the service we were on (a crappy altel family share thing with my mom.. its up in SEPT anyways) and the centros we have are going to be literally light years ahead of the crappy razr we had.. i hate that phone..

but yeah its basically 2 phones for the price we were paying for 1 phone.. if you guys haven't got on the deal yet, a friend of mine got on it from calling sprint still so you may get lucky if you have still procrastinated.

edit:

also we confirmed our first bill is in sept for 69 dollars (total for 2 phones) apparently the first month was included when we paid for our phones (or thats what the customer service lady told us)

This is a great deal if you can get it. However, for those that can't I'd say sprint offers the best price and features for the buck on their plans. I can get 1500 min plan with 2 lines, data, powervision, etc for 130. With sero we would have spent 30 less, would have gotten the 50/mo plan. How does the mobile tv work? I decided I'm switching to sprint when I heard they had live espn on it. My cost will be 110.50 + fees/tax after employer discount not bad.

Another question(sorry)

Does anyone know how I can get it so that when I call someone with caller ID, they can see my number AND name? Right now they only see my number. I remember they told me how to do it while setting up the phone, but for the life of me I forgot. I tried calling to ask CS yesterday, but I got some dude who has no clue what he's talking about.

Also, if anybody wants to do the referral thing with me so that we can each get a $25 gift card(just got my first one, woot!), just let me know via PM. I could REALLY use the money right now.

So I think it is safe to say that the $30 deal is dead. My question is regarding the "grandfather clause". Does Sprint honor the $30/month until I'm 70 years old and die of a heart attack, or do we only get $30/month until my current contract finishes in 2010?

You can still get on the website and check it out as of right now without id numbers.

Go to google (or probably any search engine), and type in SERO, hit enter.

The first listing should be SERO WELCOME. If you click on it, it will take you to the new login screen. If you clicked on 'cached' it will take you to the OLD login site that works with savings@sprintemi.com

or go here. http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:d9qDx_9TXB0J:www.sprint.com/sero+sero&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us&client=firefox-a

Page is cached as of July 7th

Enjoy. The new plans *thumbsdown* if you don't have a blackberry, its just more money for the same. You can however get a blackberry with BIS service for less than you could before ($30 sero + 40, BB) vs $60 everything

going off of every service (non cell phone mind you) you continue to pay the same even after.. (although this may be different in the cell phone world, as I haven't ever had a cell phone contract) just after the 2 years you can cancel and get a new plan or continue with the same plan,..

EDIT: if you need Referals i have access to 4 phones that will give you a REF .. PM me

EDIT AGAIN: while I do not have my phone yet (it is en route) i was playing around with my girlfriend's and heres a few applications I suggest for any of the Palm phones (we got centros) google Mundu radio.. it basically lets you stream any internet radio station (even FM ones that have links on their website) you can literally get thousands of internet radio stations for free instead of paying sprint extra money for them (because it goes through that awesome internet connection) .. there was a free "get sports" where it gives you schedules and scores.. although it probably isn't as good just going to ESPN.com but its nice that you can get it without extra steps.. i've been trying to find a free internet flash video watcher but the only one i can find is this 25 dollar Kinoma player..

I just read the corporate communication that SERO is dead. That back door link will be closed soon, as they are actively trying to stamp out the SERO program. The new "Everything" program is taking its place, and will be $60 rather than $30, but includes navigation and some other stuff...

They started asking for the last 3 digits of the employee ID as well, which I am happy to provide with my E-mail to any CAGs that might want the $60 program, but I'm sure the shock of losing the $30 will take a while for that to happen.

Too many adds were coming through on the $30 plan, which simply does not pay for itself. By the time we subsidize the phone that you buy, (it costs us $150-$200 for that free phone you get) we start off in the hole and have to try to make that money back on the margin of having a customer each month. At $30 per month, the margin is not high enough (and is actually often negative due to the amount of data a lot of people use).

Again, I'm happy to help people out for $60, but if you want in for $30, you had better use that backdoor google link while it lasts. Good Luck.

With the old SERO plan, you got unlimited data, so streaming wouldn't really matter. Also, I can't find a better video player either, and I'm too cheap to buy the player.

considering the amount of people they have on plans that just clusterfuck them on going over minutes or even just recieving a text message or logging onto the internet, they are definately making their money up in other areas .. i don't think anyone here got a "free" phone.. maybe a cheaper then usual phone because of the 150 "instant" savings.. but even then i had a cell contract that was 60 dollars a month for a lot less than im getting now..

i'm not convinced that it costs that much for data transfer as some of these places are leading on.. i think its something they are wanting to just screw people over with on.

IMO we've had free IM technology since AOL in like 94 it should be free on all cell phones and companies use it as an extra cost rather then something that should just be included. but anyways..

the 60 a month plan really isn't that bad of a deal when you look for unlimited data/texting.. no where near the 30 a month.. but not terrible either.

If you need 2 lines as I do with data sprint imo is still the best. You can't get 2 lines with 1500 min. & blackberry data for that with verizon. Not to mention the sprint plan has mobile tv. Also don't forget about employer discount programs. I told them where I work and get 21% off my 130 plan. No one can touch that for me. In fact this very well may be better than the new sero for people needing 2 or more lines.

I had the original SERO plan ($30 for 500 minutes) for a little less than a month. Sprint's service here was just not up to par so I decided to cancel within my 30 days. Now they are refusing to refund the $275 odd dollars I paid for my phone (Moto Q 9c). There were a couple small scratches on the screen from my other phone rubbing against the Q while they shared a pocket. They said my return was not up to requirements and I would have to contest them to get my refund (I'm assuming they mean the scratches).

What can I do to improve my chances of getting my money back?

I did have phone insurance so worst case scenario, I should at least be able to pay $50 to replace the phone to get my refund right?

not sure about the first half but, my dog ate my first phone, paid the $50 and than switched that phone for a different model as I was in my 30 days with no problem..

On a side note are you in the Raleigh Traingle? I am moving there this summer and I thought the coverage there was good.

Well took the plunge and got a Mogul off ebay. Does anyone know if I will be able to return the phone I got from sprint for a refund and transfer my plan over to the new phone? I know I can transfer my plan to the phone, but I was wondering if I could get a refund on my old phone (the one currently attached to my plan).

i'm one of the lucky ones who's had Sero for a long time now. in fact, my contract has already expired. i know that sometime soon i'm going to have to upgrade my phone. so my question is this: will i lose my $30 plan if i upgrade my phone? sprint has a phone upgrade program but i believe you have to sign up for another contract...does that mean that i have to sign up with a "new" contract that isn't sero?

if that's the case, i'll have to decide whether i should pay full price for a new phone and keep sero or lose sero but get a new "almost free" phone...

I want to say you just have to sign up for a contract as far as years of term go, not necessarily a new plan.

Thats the way I understand it at least.

It's been mentioned here a few times but I figured I'd bring it up again... anyone down for a new thread where we discuss cheapass apps (preferably free) for Palm OS? There's a huge array of stuff out there so I'd like to get input from fellow CAGs. Would such a thread be most appropriate for Other Deals & Requests of the Off-Topic forum?

I would be very interested in this! I would also be interested in finding a way to stop my Centro from always wanting to auto update "on demand." Every morning I wake up with a prompt asking me if its ok for my phone to connect to the internet. I check the box that says "Do not ask again" and pick no. The box then comes up again immediately and I do the same thing yet these 2 same prompts still come up every single morning :(

Sorry to ressurect this one....

I am interested in upgrading my phone that I got on the SERO plan. When I go to upgrade, it says I have to go to the www.sprint.com/everythingplus page to upgrade because of the referral plan. But when it goes there now it wants a employee email address AND Id # (which I didn't have to provide before) just to get into the site. Anyone have this info? Or does anyone know if I call the 800 number they provided if they'll ask for the same info?

Your best bet is to buy the phone you want from a 3rd party and have someone at a Sprint store set it up for your current account.

Even then, be aware that certain phones aren't allowed on the SERO plan such as the Pre or Instinct and maybe even some Blackberries.

On-line upgrades are dead, and I'm pretty sure you'd have to sweet-talk a CSR over the phone if you want to upgrade your plan through Sprint and keep the SERO plan.

Well I was able to renew for 2 more years and get the Touch Pro 2 today with no problem at all. The phone was still pretty expensive though. $599.99 - $200 for renewing - $100 MIR = $299.99. I asked about the rebate and was ensured I qualified. They also sold me a car charger for $15.99 and screen protectors for $9 (the screen protectors were kinda high but I figured Sprint probably needs the business). They didn't give me any hassle at all and I now have the $30 SERO plan for another 2 years! Has anyone upgraded the phone from WM 6.1 to 6.5? I found this link and it seems fairly easy..

I'm on the $30 plan and renewed about a month ago. Got a Reclaim free, but the GPS on it worked for a couple days as a trial before it was locked out. And the Google Maps GPS doesn't work with it.

I actually renewed with a $50 credit that they mailed to me if I renewed by a certain date because I thought I couldn't get a phone, too. So I renewed with that first, then went through getting a new phone on the site and got that with the discount, too! Still only subscribed till 2012 despite renewing 2 years twice.

The original SERO plan is pretty much dead for new subscribers. That link brings you to the newer Spring Everything Plus Referral offer. I don't know if anyone on CAG has the information to subscribe to it. You may actually have to know a sprint employee this time around.

My two year on SERO ends in about a month, and my Touch Pro is still going strong. I think I'll wait til a Windows 7 Series Phone comes out before getting a new phone from Sprint.

And the TP2 is great on Sero!I've been looking into this. It's a hard sell for me since $300 would be, by far, the most I've ever spent on a phone. But the thing is damn pretty. Does it have any sort of free internet radio like the Palm Centro does? I actually ended up using that pretty often. I do see that Windows Mobile has this "Shazam" program that is a lot like the song ID feature on my old Verizon enV, which is a feature I've missed dearly. I get the impression that Windows Mobile is generally a much more active platform that PalmOS these days. Would you say that is the case? Anything in particular you find worth mentioning to really sell someone on the TP2? My two years is up in June, so now I'm starting to examine all my CERO-compatible options.

It has a Slacker radio app.. go to www.slacker.com to check out the service (its free). Its like pandora/last.fm except it also includes pre-made radio stations based on genres (indie, hip hop,etc..). The stream quality on the phone is very nice. There are also programs u can get to get access to shoutcast stations as well.

Not sure about which is more active but I do visit the forums of ppcgeek.com (http://www.ppcgeeks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=97) and XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=479) There are tons of cooked Roms (tweaked versions of Windows Mobile) and they are porting android to the phone as well. (http://www.ppcgeeks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=179)

For identifying songs, I don't know. I'm sure there is an app for that. If you just want to here a specific song there is Nanogroove or the youtube app.

Some things I like about the phone

Being able to use it as a stereo in my car. Since it has stereo bluetooth capabilities I just stream slacker radio or podcasts to my car stereo. I also listen to the Boston sports radio station I grew up with. Its nice hearing about my teams even though I'm now in North Carolina. (if you don't have a stereo that can do it, the phone has a headphone jack so you could just connect your phone to the stereo through the aux. jack).

I have RSS feeds setup on my phone so I can d/l podcasts right to my phone. My 80 gig Ipod has collected dust since I no longer need it for music or podcasts

What I like best about the TP2 is that it feels like a top of the line phone yet I'm still only paying $30 a month.

The web browser is functional. Opera Mobile works great on the device.

Twitter integration. I don't post but its nice to see updates from people in the game industry.

What I don't like:

Wish the battery life was better. I'm sure its how I use it though. I commute 40 minutes each way to work. Streaming internet radio stations or podcasts the whole time.

The Gsensor is a little wonky as well.

User interface isn't as well done as other Operating Systems.

Jealous of the rich marketplace and apps available for Iphone and android. That said there are alot of apps for the phone, you just have to search the web for them.

Would I get the phone if I wasn't limited like we are now? I'm not sure but, I am happy with the TP2

Anyone have experience with the GPS on the TP2? Is there a program you buy to activate it, or a subscription service of some sort (I assume it's not free)? If I can return the dedicated GPS I just bought, that might be the push I need to shell out the bucks for this phone.

SERO and legacy plan users, the Internet is now abuzz with rumors that Sprint, for an extra 10 dollars a month (extra $20 for 4G phones), will be allowing Sero users to upgrade to previously restricted phones starting October 1st. http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=206795&page=42

Looks like it is official. Sero users will be able to upgrade to a new Sero Premium plan.

http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/42978;jsessionid=51B0A56523E6D25AE6FF9833DB2FC3E0. app1jive1

Over the last few weeks there’s been some buzz in the blogosphere about changes to Sprint’s SERO plan. Currently the SERO plan doesn’t support a lot of the more advanced devices like the Samsung Moment, HTC Hero, Palm Pre, Palm Pixi, HTC EVO 4G or Samsung Epic 4G.

That’s about to change. Starting 10/1/10, current SERO customers will have the option to upgrade to a SERO Premium rate plan which will support all of Sprint’s phones including the latest and coolest ones. There will be two flavors offered: the SERO Premium 500 at $40/month and SERO Premium 1250 at $59.99/month and will match current SERO rate plans with two added features: Any Mobile Anytime and Unlimited GPS Navigation. 4G handsets such as HTC EVO 4G and Samsung Epic 4G will also require the $10/month Premium Data add-on.

Check out the FAQs for more information: http://www.sprint.com/everythingplus.

Tempting me to get an Android phone, but I think I may wait for WP7.

If you are a current Sero plan holder, yes you can back out after 30 days. As for discounts, that depends on where you are in your current contract. If you are renewing you can receive 150 rebate towards a new phone. Recently they had refurb phones for 79.99. I ended up buying a refurb Hero, and it works great.

When I got my last phone (Palm Centro), I did some slick talking, and I not only got them to give me the new 2yr activation price when I had a year left on my contract, but I even got them to just drop the MIR and just take the amount off instantly. Let's hope I can pull that magic again.

Also, can I do this in-store?

Damn, if I had known this was going to eventually happen I would have kept my $30 SERO plan I dropped this past April.

Just ordered a Samsung Transform ($400 - $150 upgrade - $100MIR = $150). Can't wait for my new toy to arrive!! Had to go to Sero Premium ($40/month) but I figure with the unlimited mobile-to-mobile and navigation it's plenty worth it.

Sorry to bump an old topic, guys.

I just wanted to make sure the HTC EVO 4G is included in this plan? Because that's the phone I really want. Also, what is the number I call to upgrade and what exactly do I say to them?

Yes, you can pay a $10/mo fee to use any 'iconic' phone (basically any non WinMo smartphone). You also get free AMAT (any mobile any time) and GPS features. If you get the Evo or Epic, you also have to pay the $10/mo 4G charge.

If you already have a SERO plan, you just call employee customer care 8662641282.
