Looking for an HDTV preferably with the following specs for around $800 or less (I know, asking the impossible):

- 42" or larger
- 1080p (if possible)
- at least 2 HDMI
- good black level
- LCD

I've currently only found a single Westinghouse that meets all of these specifications, just figured I'd ask around and see if there are any other options or deals before I take the plunge.

You're going to either have to A. settle with a low-end HDTV or B. up your price $100-200, or C. try and find an open-box deal.

I got my 37'' Olevia LCD brand new for $800 and it came with a free digital camera from newegg.com like 2 years ago. Sure it's not really a name brand TV but it does look better than my parent's 50'' Sony DLP, HD-wise. It's not 1080p (1080i actually) and it only has 1 HDMI output. Most HDTV's these days will come with 2 or more HDMI outputs but 1080p will cost you more in the end. I would suggest newegg.com or tigerdirect.com for further research.

I picked up a 32" Sony 32s3000 on clearance for $800. It's native 720p but does state 1080p available over HDMI only. Haven't hooked up the ps3 to it yet, but I've been very happy with it picture quality from other 720p sources. Besides the screen size it certainly meets all your other criteria. For a 42" you're not going to find anything worthwhile with 1080p.

This prolly won't help, but...

A few months back I got a 42" Westinghouse LCD SK-42H240S for $780 on clearance at Office Depot.

Might wanna try at a OD for any deals

That can get you started. NOws the time to look for Memorial Day sales, too.

You can also think about a DLP Rear Projection set....but you might have to spend a bit more, but just a bit.....

Dont worry about >1 HDMI..you can buy an HDMI switch at Monoprice for less than $20 bucks.......

Your ultimate decision will be: Do I buy a cheaper, but bigger, LCD...or do I buy a more expensive, but smaller, LCD. Or do I buy a rear projector and get a bigger size, but there's a bulb that will need replacement someday.
