Is their a program that I can buy that lets you play the game without the cd? I'm looking more for one that I can goto best buy or some other store and pick up and not pay to download.

Depends on the game.
Some games you can play off an image of the cd, that you store on your hard drive.
Others you can replace the executable with a modified one, that doesn't need the cd.

you can get a free one for almost every game its called a cd crack! Don't waste your money on a program that does the same exact thing

I know I've played half-life 2 on this laptop a few times without the disc, once it was installed. But I don't know of any stand-alone product that you can install that makes every pc game playable without the cd. But I'm very out of the pc gaming loop these days.

YEs there is magical ISO that mounts the img on to part oyuor HD or another HD.
In general make a partition and move all the files to that partition and change the name of it to the name of the disc and load it.
Then there is Alcohol 120% that mounts the img also. You can also temporarly rename your drive and have the files on your HD loaded.
I have FFVII PC that can mount to any secondary drive. The same with any other program.

A no-cd crack will enable you to play your game without the cd/dvd. But you still need a way to create and mount an image on your harddrive. You can find some free programs to do this, but you still need a program other than the crack.

What????????? I think your talking about a burned copy of the disc image, is not what the OP mentioned
All you do is INSTALL the game then copy the (no-cd crack) .exe over the original!!!
I use Alcohol 120%...works nicely.

Me too. It's worked fine with a bunch of games thus far except for NOLF2.

If you don't have that much hd space, having isos for every game you play can get annoying. Try this site

They have no cd cracks for most games.

I suggest GameJackal, it is a program which will scan the disc when you play and then emulate the needed files/conditions to make it work without the disc from that point on.
Check it out, it works pretty well. And takes up much less space than ISOs. And no-cd cracks tend to messup stuff like online play(when checking for versions) or patching later on.

After posting I remembered that a graphics card for my old pc came with a demo of farstone gamedrive. I used this I think once but it is a demo and only allows for 5 games. They dont make it anymore but they do make another program that does the same. I was looking for just one program and not to convert to an iso then use another program to play it and i dont want a cd crack.
Also I ended up finding out that all the games on steam and age of conan do not need the cd. So now I'm just going to load up all the other games I will end up playing and see what ones need the cd and what ones dont then just buy that program and do that.

Are NoCD cracks allowed to be posted on CAG? It seems like it's a gray area of piracy.

Can a mod clear up if no cd crack links are allowed? I use them all the time and I buy my games, I just cant deal with swapping cds all the time.

Good question. Since it could be linked to piracy I'm not sure a *no cd crack* link would be appreciated. It'd be safer not to directly link to the site(s).
However, if you know *what you're looking for* Google is a very strong and powerful tool. ;)
