Whats the deal with this game? Is it somewhat rare since I cant find it in stores and is still almost full price online? Im interested in this but not sure I want to pay full price (never do) but It might not ever come down.. Has anyone played it and is it worth full price?

Yes, worth the 40 bucks value in my opinion. Graphics are really eye-catching and there is a ton of replay value for completists (lots of optional missions, unlockable weaponry & equipments, and oversized monsters/bosses). Best part is after the main campaign, you can continue exploring the world with a different and somewhat uniquely-skilled cast of characters that u had previously encountered along your adventures. Original Japanese language option is also a plus !

pretty average JRPG fare in my opinion. Story was ok not the best I'd say its worth 40 yeah but its not like OMG jaw dropping or anything.

I played the first hour or so, and giggled continuously at the childish, cliche story and dialogue. Considering my backlog, I'll never touch it again--there are way too many good RPGs out there for me to waste my time on something like this.

yeah..i saw that today! well def pick up for 19.99..and it was finally back in my gamestop yesterday.....was sooooooo close to picking it up for $40..had it it my hand and was heading toward register..changed my mind at last min

and they have monster hunter 2 for 19.99...just bought that for 35.00 last month,,thats always the way

I was wondering about the same thing too... saw it in gamestop with a $40 tag (actually only $30 according to GS.com).
The art style (including the fonts used) reminds me of Romancing SaGa, but this is not by SE so am I just dreaming? My blood-SaGa level must be getting low again, where did I put my SaGa Frontier I...

At $20, pick it up. At $40, don't touch it. It's really just as average as you can get with JRPG's. It's not a bad game, but it does nothing new and isn't worth $40 IMO.

I bought it for full price at launch and don't feel it was worth it.
The graphics are beautiful...some of the best seen on the PSP...but the story, characters, and battle system were real downers, especially the story. The game is pretty easy though and I think I beat it in like 12-16 hours.
I feel its a 7/10 game...with the graphics keeping it up that high.

I have to disagree with everyone here, I purchase it on day one, and loved it, 9/10 easy as that, worth 40, $20 is a no brainer

with PSP games I can wait if I can get the game dirt cheap. I almost never get PSP games on release other than Monster Hunter games.

just got this... so far I got it along with Valhalla knights and I'm enjoying valhalla a bit more than this, but I've barely dug into Brave Story much so I don't think I have a valid opinion yet.

valhalla knight is super repetitive and very unkind to players. it requires alot of grinding. oddly, even with that stated I'm enjoying it but can see most people wont.

I ended up passing on Valhalla Knights for the Game Days sale and went with Brave Story and Monster Hunter Freedom 2 instead. Ordered online to get sealed copies, hopefully they will be worth the $20/each.

Monster Hunter 2 is the best deal in the sale IMHO. I've played it to death so Valhalla is a nice alternative.
