I'm still debating this, but I know that others have been looking for a deal.

Use coupon MAPNEWNCSAVE for $10 off, if you've never bought from Amazon.ca before. You can use your regular amazon.com account.

Anybody know if this is different from the regular dvd version. This is cheaper and i was just curious if the combo format thing would be a good idea for upscaling. Also they haven't announced anything about a blu-ray version have they?

I bought this and got it last week from Amazon.Ca. It took about 10 days from when the order was placed to when it arrived at my front door with the cheapest shipping option. I used the coupon to knock off $10 bucks which negated the shipping charge. The conversion rate is about 1:1 and my Visa credit card charged a $2.50 fee for the whole transaction so the total was about $52 American bucks. I didn't play it yet..........

I think this is the remastered 2.0 series with the new special effects. If season 2 wasn't canned for HD, I would have picked this up in a heart beat.

Yes the new remastered version is WAY better looking. I just got done watching the HD-dvd version of season one. I then started watching season 2 on DVD and it really looks like crap. The ships are all dark and scratchy film looking. I am sure even the DVD side of the remastered version looks much better than the original unchanged versions.

Thanks for the heads up OP. I feel the coupon made it worth getting. My order shipped on Tuesday, and arrived in the US on Friday. That was quick! :)

Well, I just bit-- I had been on the fence all week (not the biggest Trekkie) but read some reviews and figured I'd never find an HD set (I assume this will eventually get a BluRay re-release) cheaper...
It'll be interesting to check out!

In for one, and thanks a lot for the $10 off code - it effectively killed shipping. Great deal on this, considering how loathe Paramount is to drop prices on any form of Star Trek on any form of video.
