Yes friends, my beloved MacBook, highly touted as the superior machine, is having the random shutdown issue ever so common in newer Macs. While I can understand and even appreciate that some computer parts are defective from the word go, I feel the need to vent. I feel better now.
Anyway, if you are suffering from Random Mac Shutdown Syndrome, or RMSS, check your battery cycle to see if it's over 300 when it's fully charged. Otherwise, take it to the Mac Store, because there is a good chance your battery is FUBAR.

Hate to be a troll, but Macs are in no way superior to a PC.

hate to be a nerd, but macs are PCs. Macs just typically run a Mac OS versus the Windows/Microsoft OS or others.

Lay off guys. The OP just said it was highly touted as the superior machine.

Buy a mac, they just work! oh, never mind. (you know someone was going to say it, so might as well get it out of the way)
You sure the problem is with the battery?

You're not trolling. PCs have many advantages over Macs, and vice versa. It all depends on what you use it for.
I'm about 90% sure it's the battery. It seems to be a fairly common problem these days.

I doubt you hate being a troll, otherwise you'd keep stupid comments like that to yourself...

Its not a stupid comment. They are absurdly overpriced. A comparable computer from a different manufacturer costs hundreds of dollars less. They are not superior machines by any means.

It's not so much hating Macs as it is hating the people who swear by them. They're probably worse than PC nerds.

Yayzers, it was the battery afterall. The tech guy replaced it for free, even though it wasn't covered in their replacement plan. I think it's because I actually spoke in mac terms =P

Given the fact that nearly every mac thread is invaded by some troll spouting "Macs suck!!!", I would have to disagree.

I had a similar problem with my iMac and it turned out to be the power supply. The Apple Store fixed it for free over 2 years out of warranty.

i hate how people bitch about the prices, Are you spending the money? then shut up, you dont want a mac fine then dont get one, leave the people who want one to get them.
Hiya! My friend had the same problem. It happened with the first batches if the MacBook's that came out. He took it back to the Apple Store and they fixed it. No more problems. Had a few friends that had the same problem ONLY with the initial MacBook releases.
As for the comments of Macs are just PC's...yes, with the exception that my Mac doesn't crash as much [note: Running 3 Mac's and 2 PC's in my office] - Mac's for video, audio and graphics and PC's for billing and PC gaming] and I'll take Mac OS Leopard (10.5) over Vista any day.
