I've got my PSP working off of my wireless network at home, but I have a question.

Will the PSP automatically detect wireless hotspots (IE at an airport or cafe) or will it only use authenticated PSP "hotspots"?

If it does use "regular" hotspots, what's the procedure for detecting them?
Obviously, we can't type in an authentication key, so I'm not exactly sure what to do.

It'll use any wifi netwrok

From the XMB Go to Settings>Network Setting

Select infrastructure mode>ne connection>scan

A list of available networks will pop up along with their security settings and signal strength.

If there is security on the network , it will give you the chance to put in the key

any hotspot will work. Just go into network and scan. And yes you can type in authentication key

I haven't tried accessing hotspots but I know that you can type in authentication keys under Networks settings (far left icon on PSP menu, scroll down).

i'm at a wifi spot right now. u dont have to go through the settings menu to add a new connection. u can do it through the browser itself.

just set ur browser to auto~connect off. and then whenever u wanna check if a connection nearby, just try accessing one of ur bookmarks (i use google). itll then ask u to choose a connection, from which u can select new connection and scan.

u can do this with auto~connect on but this method skips the extra step of trying to connect to ur previous connection.
