is it possible to make an exchange of an unopened game at Walmart without a receipt?

Yes but they usually ask for your driver's license # so they can track your returns since you are only allowed 3 no receipt returns a year.

Is this possible?
I got a game for my b-day that was for G-Cube, and I didn't have it. I went to gamestop, and they said they cant take it.
So basically I sold it on ebay for $15!!
But if they sold it at Wal-Mart for $50, I'd get 50 store credit?

I've told you once, I'll tell you again.
Tread Lightly.
This topic has been done over and over, and ends up with new posters getting pissed off at the vets here, since the vets have no problem at shouting people down about fraud.
You don't want to start that up again.

Technically yes, but most people on this site would say that it is not ethical to do something like this. To my knowledge it is not illegal, but it very well may be.

just trade it in at eb or gamestop and get credit. if it was a gift. get a gift receipt. either way you got it free and even 15 bucks is more profit than cheating the system

If I receive a blender as a gift, and it's not quite the same one that I wanted, and I didn't get a gift receipt for it [gift receipts are still relatively new], and WalMart sells that model, and I shop at Walmart a lot [at least 100.00/week], and they have the model I want, what is wrong with my taking Blender A back, getting credit, and purchasing Blender B with that credit?
How is that different from doing the same with video games? I agree, purposefully buying games from Store A for 10 bucks, and 'exchanging' them for a gift card/credit at WalMart for 50 bucks, is dishhonest. But if I received a game for a system i don't have, I'm not going to sell it for 15 bucks--the giver just got screwed out of 35.00. I'll either try to exchange it at a store for like value, or give itback to the giver and say Hope you have the receipt.
WalMart does have very generous return/customer service policies. I have no problem using them. I have a problem *abusing* them. It is a fine line, true.

Yes, but that's not what people are talking about when they ask that. I'm just trying to defuse another argument filled thread before it starts.

I know it's very dishonest...But I spend a ton of money there. I get somewhat new releases there, DVD's, pet supplies, house supplies, sometimes sporting goods, I bought jewlery there once, and I got my contacts there.
So if I get a game for my b-day or something, then I'll probably do the dishonest thing. But I'd NEVER make it as a habit. Only a one time deal, if my realtive got me the wrong game or something else.

I spend a lot of money at Joe's Deli. I buy lunch there every day. They give me value for my dollar, so I'll only steal form them one time. I'll make it a point to be honest and upstanding except for the times I want to defraud someone. Gee, life is swell for me!! :?

A mom and pop operation like "joe's deli" is FAR different than a monster chain like walmart. If walmart is still charging $50 for a game that is selling for $20 mostly everywhere else, then screw them.

No, "if Walmart is still charging $50 for a game that is selling for $20 mostly everywhere else," then don't buy it from them.
And, irc_email, I hate Walmart, too, but I don't like to see people commit fraud against them. That said, I feel that there is a difference between returning a gift to them for credit, and going out and buying a game somewhere else with the intention of returning it to them.

get a clue dude. this guy received a game as a gift. he can't return it to the store it was purchased from because he doesn't have a receipt. walmart accepts returns without receipts for store credit and happens to be charging $50 for the game. its not his problem that walmart isn't with it.
