ZAP! Vintage Video Games
Opens at the McCullough-Price House on June 14, 2008, with special activities and game play from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Opening day visitors will be able to play modern video games in The Game Truck, a mobile game arcade. Game designs created by students at the University of Advancing Technology will also be showcased, and visitors can meet game design professionals from Rainbow Studios, a local game design firm. California Pizza Kitchen will provide light refreshments. The exhibit is presented with support of the SanTan Sun News. There is no charge for admission and the exhibit is suitable for all ages.
Vintage Video Game Challenge
on June 19, 20 & 21, 2008 Three age categories:
Thursday, June 19, from 2-5 p.m. for Youths ages 7-12
Friday, June 20, from 1-4 p.m. for Teens ages 13-17
Saturday, June 21, from 3-6 p.m. for Adults age 18 and older There is no charge for admission and the exhibit is suitable for all ages.
Whether you are an adult who wants to relive some of your game-playing youth, or you’re a young person who just wants to check out how some of the classic games are played, you can have fun with other gamers and compete for prizes.
The competition will be played on an Atari Flashback 2 game system, and the game will not be announced until the beginning of the challenge. Atari Flashback 2 games include Asteroids, Centipede, Lunar Lander, Missile Command, Battlezone and others.
Play will be on a first come-first served basis, and space is limited. Individuals will compete one at a time, starting with a five-minute practice session followed by a five-minute game that will be scored. After a two-and-a-half-hour preliminary round the top three scorers will compete for the championship.I think I'm going to go and check it out and join the tournament. Any other CAG going to go?
