So Yahoo made a list of 6 movies that they think should be made into movies. The list is the following:

1. Children of Men
2. 28 Days/Weeks Later
3. Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2
4. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
5. Memento
6. Seven Samurai

Any opinions, thoughts, or suggestions?

Wasn't Seven Samurai already made into a game? A really horrible one at that.

Man, were the people at Yahoo drinking heavily or something? Here's my take:

1. This IS my favorite movie. The cinematography was amazing and the long takes built up so much suspense I was practically having heart attacks during a few of the scenes where that method was used. I think to try and make this into a game would completely ruin the experience that the film gives you, and it would probably be a pretty boring game to be honest with you.

2. Great idea, but this game would be ridiculously difficult. I suppose they could make an exception for your character like they always do in Resident Evil, because otherwise, one particularly bloody kill would spell Game Over for your character. Maybe if you had the "condition" that some people have (don't want to spoil too much) it could work, but still, enraged maniacs chasing you the entire time would get tedious.

3. I don't think Tarantino films translate into games well. At least, I don't think the publishers deliver on their promises (looking at YOU Reservoir Dogs). It could work, but the only real battles that take place other than the Crazy 88 are 1-on-1. I guess if you made getting from Point A to Point B part of the game like in Shadow of the Colossus, it would be doable.

4. Ship battles... I don't think I've played a game where these battles were a combination of fun and accurate. You can either have ships with health bars that blow each other to hell, or you can gave a REAL battle where I hit your masts with a chain shot and leave you and your crew dead in the water. Plus, don't they only fight like one ship in that movie?

5. I can see the gimmick: "The first ever game you play backwards!", but you definitely lack the main character's handicap because you can remember things for more than ten minutes at a time. I don't really see this as being feasible, plus, if you've seen the movie, do you think it would ever end?

6. The Seven Samurai has already inspired countless game titles. Suikoden? Yeah, that's Seven Samurai except with 108 characters instead of seven. Any game where you gain party members got that idea from The Seven Samurai or another game that got the idea from that film. I doubt anyone could ever do a video game version of the film justice, so I say just let its inspiration continue.

Master and Commander could be cool, everything else would just feel like a shitty tie-in to a story. I dunno, I'd prefer original titles.

No on all of those. There are already games out that are similar, so we don't need a movie-based game that'll inevitably suck. Seeing Master and Commander on the list reminds me of how awesome Empire: Total War's going to be, though.

1. I don't see any of those turning into good games.

2. 98% of games based off movies, TV shows, etc. sucks, so I'd prefer publishers stay away from them and make original properties.

But that will never happen since licensed crap is such an easy way to make a quick buck.

Children of Men is my favorite movie ever but I can't honestly see a game doing it justice. It would more than likely be as different from the movie as the movie differed from the book and end up being a Clock Tower clone or something.

I always thought that The Running Man would be cool, but its time has kind of passed.

District B13 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPIw3cv8Zls) would make an awesome game. Give it good hand to hand combat, and a big environment to do parkour through....okay, I guess that basically means it would be Mirror's Edge, only in France.

Oddly enough, I could totally see Children of Men working into the FPS genre fairly well. A ton of actionpacked scenes in that movie, whether it was intense car chases, gunfights, or in general exploring ravaged cities.

I don't see The Seven Samurai as an inspiration for Suikoden. The entire game (108 characters included) was loosely based on a Chinese novel.
