MGS3 was the first time I ever payed attention to a storyline and thought that the ending had some real energy to it.

Kojima can be on the nutty side at times, but the humor is amusing none-the-less and isn't too detrimental to the impact the story is supposed to make on the gamer.

yeah, MGS3's ending is pretty awesome. Probably the best ending anyone's ever done in a game. MGS3 and the first one are by far the best of the series and the most down to earth, and I like that a lot, when kojima can show some restraint. Then MGS2 and MGS4 come along and screw up all of that good stuff..

I thought Killzone had good story, the helghast were an intresting and sympathetic enemy...somewhat.

Bioshock had alot of great story elements, beside it's obvious Chinatown like convoluted side-story of the main character.

Max Payne is one of the best uses of story in a game I've seen to date, everything about the game and the writing fits in completely. I want more Max Payne.

Wat? SOTC ending/story was amazing if you could actually put the story together. That is one thing I loved about SOTC, is the fact that it didn't hold your hand through the story, it let you kind of put the pieces together to understand wtf is going on.

Well shit to Jer Halo is the best game ever, which means the best story ever. I wasn't quoting HMCM and saying in my opinion Halo had a good story. We can find out. We just check the shipping logs when a game ships. So won't know about EO2 until the 17th.

Typically with Atlus games like that, unless there's preorders we tend to get 1-3 copies. Since it's not a big seller we usually only gut one copy.

So I didn't even plan on it at all, but after finishing MGS2, I started MS3... Granted, I only played like 30 minutes coz it was getting late, but yeah. It's weird... Snake Eater, while I loved it, was easily my least favorite of the MGS games due to the godawful camera... but with Subsistence, that changed a lot... I still like MGS2 better by a little bit, but Subsistence is sooo good.

MGS had the best boss battles by far. Psycho Mantis alone makes it so, but then you add in Sniper Wolf and the Ninja and it just gets epic.

MGS2 had a great story that made you think. It also had the best gameplay in the series. While MGS3 had similar gameplay, and added CQC, it also had the cumbersome camo and injury system.

MGS3 had the best story. The Boss is probably my favorite video game characters of all time. Especially when you find out what she went through her whole life. Also as we all know by now, the ending was amazing.

on a side note I'm watching Escape from NY for the first time right now... just wanted to see the movie kojima loves.

Escape from NY was a great movie. A bit corny at times but great nonetheless. John Carpenter's music score in the movie also fit the mode quite well (I especially like the intro/ending theme) and almost anything with Kurt Russel in it is full of win.

Max Payne did have a good story , with a fair bit of humor thrown in as well (how about the "is this just a game" sequence?). The third chapter got kinda convaluted though.

Also as we all know by now, the ending was amazing.

All I can about MGS: Ghost Babel is...fuck the box puzzle! It's been like 4-5 years since I have played it and I still remember how much I hated it. I was on a Family camping trip so I had no access to the internet It took me atleast 2 hours to get past it. With that said it was still a fun game.

Traded in Guitar Hero 3 & GTA4 today and got Burnout Paradise. Wow, I don't really know what's different, but that demo didn't communicate anything about the quality of the final game. Maybe they didn't have the flashing, dinging turn signs for turns in the race? I dunno, but the final game is awesome.

I wish the PS3 controller wasn't so awful for racing games so I could've gotten it on its lead platform. Oh well.

Oh well.The triggers on the DS3 work much better for racers IMO (work really great for Burnout Revenge). They feel different than the 360, but still work (I mean, even 1UP (http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3165508) said themselves the PS3 triggers work best with Burnout Paradise, but that's just an opinion). But I dunno, I still prefer pressing X button over anything on racing games (although I prefer using the PS3 triggers for Burnout Paradise and NFS Carbon) because that's what I got use to back in 1995 with Ridge Racer and Wipeout on PS1 near launch. Try downloading demos of PS3 racers to see what I mean (I own 7-8 racers on PS3 and don't have control issues).

But then again, I still bought mine on PS3 because it was the version all my friends were getting (and I don't have XBL Gold), and I have a PS Eye (so my picture could be taken). I've put over 23 hours into Burnout Paradise and still play it often.

I've only used them on demo units but those convex triggers drive me nuts on PS3, and drove me nuts for shooters on PS2. The added trigger just makes it worse. The dreamcast got it right, xbox followed suit, but for some reason Sony doesn't realize that, no matter how much Mana Knight SPIN gets in this thread.

The "triggers" on the PS3 are god awful.

The need to be reversed like the 360. Makes it perfect for FPS and racing.This is pure truth. The DualShock design was already playing catchup with the refined Xbox controller. Who's bright idea was it to make a button you hold down a lot prone to your fingers slipping off.

GUN-DAM.Well, Kira Yamato (from Gundam SEED) is definitely a Mana Knight type anime character (kind of like how I'm big into Shinji, Renton, etc.). I have enjoyed the anime overall and still watch it now. But, I really cannot say if I prefer that or Gundam Wing.

That's another things, I'm not into Star Wars at all. ;) But then again, I haven't been big into many sci-fi movies (I mostly just watch comedy).

Getting back to game related discussion, I really need to find the receipt to my PSP Slim, since it's really acting weird. It's now starting to take 2-3 tries to load a UMD, or even have a time where the home screen randomly pops up during a game (happened during a shot in Hot Shots Golf). I don't think it's a firmware problem since I've run three different firmwares since the issue. I just know my Mom has the receipt, since I asked her to pick up my PSP when Meijer had a sale while I was away at college, but hoping she still has it. If not, I may just have to buy another PSP Slim (part of the reason I don't completely care is I rather have the God of War one right now, since it's my favorite color). :-(

I'm a fan of vampire stuff as well, also I'm a big shojo fan so Vampire Knight is right up my alley. It's not the best shojo out there (that honor goes to Kare Kano and Gentleman's Alliance), but I like it. Claymore isn't bad, but it's starting to feel a bit predictable, but then that's just kind of the way shonen manga is.

I got a bunch of Guilty Gear, MintJam, and remixed renditions of Shanghai Alice game music on my PSP, and I imagine a game mixed with ZOE and Guardian Legend, with the difficulty of Ninja Gaiden and featuring a fight between the protagonist (usually this mecha woman a la Guardian Legend) against Testament and Dizzy that goes kick-ass fast.

I've always wanted to try out Kojima's other games, but never got a chance. All ih ave is the MGS series (which i love, seeing as story is the most important for me). Most of his other games are on other systems anyway, so i can't really play them. Not only is Snatcher on Sega CD which i don't have, it's runs for $150+ on ebay.

I'm still troubled by the fact that i'm buying MGS4 LE (rs at gamestop) and reg. (signed of course by the man hismelf, but still). I'm also hoping he'll sign MSG3: Subsistence.

I was going to bring the whole series for him to sign, but it seems pushy. :)

1) Soul Calibur IV... I dunno, based on the whole "PS3 version has frame-rate issues" thing, I'd have to get the 360 version if that doesn't change. Now, I think Yoda is completely lame, especially given that Darth is in the PS3 version, but having the game play better is faaaar more important than a single character that I don't particularly care about. So really, it's about the technical side of things more than anything. And I'm getting the LE.

2) RPGs... Looking forward to Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remnant. It's a shame to see Valkyria Chronicles be sorta lame. And Disgaea 3 looks fun, but not like... amazing or anything... in fact, no RPG exclusive to the PS3 looks particularly great except for White Knight Story and Final Fantasy XIII... and who knows when the hell those'll hit? And even Last Remnant isn't out on the PS3 for a while still, it seems. Man is the PS3 a mess right now...

Persona fuckin 4 looks damn good, though. Can't wait for that shit. I'm also hoping that Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean 4 will turn out, but those are definitely less exciting than Infinite Undiscovery, Persona fuckin 4, and Last Remnant. Unfortunately, most RPGs that come out nowadays are pretty awful, or mediocre... so hopefully there'll be some that don't fall victim to that...



Anyway, I just finished my playthrough of MGS3 that I started... errr... yesterday. So I'm about as prepared as I can be for MGS4. Yes!

It's a shame...I absolutely loved MGS and it still stands as one of my favorite games of all time. I not that long ago tried to play 2 but I couldn't get into it. I still have it and 3 as well...but I'm not sure I will ever play them. I think the pacing is just too slow for me at this point. I'm not crazy about the long cut scenes either at this point. I am curious to see how well 4 does though.

I've started on Ninja Gaiden 2 and I'm really loving it. I know a lot of people don't like the camera but I'm not sure what the solution would be for a game that moves this fast. I'm not having issues although I'm only on Chapter 4.

I do expect MGS4 to do well in Europe (where PS3 game sales are the strongest and where MGS3 performed the best last gen).
