The environment looks expansive and beautiful. I dig the new characters, and the improved multiplayer. This looks Dream Team worthy.

WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009

Create-a-fucking-move. That's it, folks. Bang the gong. Feed me a wonton. The war is won.

I don't particularly like the Toukon Retsuden engine. But, folks, I, and many others, have been waiting a long time for a create-a-move feature to grace a pro-wrestling game. And downloading moves for Fire Pro Wrestling D doesn't count.

All Points Bulletin

Unrelated to the Atari game, this upcoming MMO has a lot of potential, and is basically Crackdown: the MMO. A cops and robbers MMO? Sure.

LEGO Batman

I don't care if the formula is tired, it's LEGO Batman. If you don't buy this game, you don't have a soul.

Too Human

I was a pretty big fan of Diablo, back in the day, and this sounds similar - but updated, which is nice. The real deal maker, though? Silicon Knights. I really enjoyed Eternal Darkness and Legacy of Kain. This game is a no-brainer.

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

Again, I enjoyed the first title. I haven't seen much in the previews, but it still looks fun.

Castle Crashers

Trout sword! I really do hope this is released soon, as I have little to play, at the moment.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix/Street Fighter 4

One will succeed. The other will bomb. Releasing both near each other would greatly impact sales. SSFIITHDR will be prettier, but Street Fighter 4 makes me wetter.

Come on, Gotanda, hit me with your best shot. If it's anything like Final Fantasy, I'll probably enjoy it.

Call of Duty: World at War

I know, I know. I spent some time badmouthing Treyarch, but, fuck, they've had a year to perfect copying, or (gasp) improve, Call of Duty 4. Just drape over a theme and I'll buy it - even though it's yet another World War II game by Treyarch. However, any modification that results in a gaming experience less than Call of Duty 4 will leave me no recourse but scorn and a cold shoulder.

Vigilante 8

This is my top XBLA want this year. Udon, you took too long. Street Fighter's HD Remix will probably be prettier, but Vigilante 8 fills a void.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2 - FFTA's story was fairly simple, but enjoyable, and the gameplay was great. Very much looking forward to the sequel.

de Blob - Keeping an eye on this one, since it looks like Katamari Damacy with paint. Should be fun.

Aside from those, there's a few games I'm somewhat interested in (Infinite Undiscovery, Disgaea DS, Rhapsody DS, and World of Goo chief amongst them), but no must-haves.

I'm crossing my fingers that Animal Crossing Wii, StarCraft 2, and/or Rune Factory 2 will come out before the end of the year (any of these would be a Day One purchase for me), but no worries if they don't.

We've got Space Invaders Extreme hitting next week. I'd love to say I have hope for the new Sonic game, but I don't think I do.

I'm hoping E3 brings news of some holiday stuff (especially from Nintendo). Otherwise, I think it's time to play the tiny amount of a backlog that I've got and then maybe pick up some older games for cheaper that I was mildly interested in (Battalion Wars Wii, Simpsons Game, etc.)

Gears of War 2 and the new DS Castlevania for sure. Will probably pick up Space Invaders Extreme on DS--but I'm not super excited for that.

There are a few other games I'm keeping an eye, but those are the only day 1 must buys for me as of right now. Which is fine as I have a couple games on the shelf I haven't gotten to, and some other, older 360 games I'll probably pick up off of Goozex at some point. On top of not having much time for gaming these days.

There are several other titles that I may get if reviews are strong and I'm not playing anything else at the time like Mercenaries 2, Too Human, Splinter Cell, COD and several others.

But at this point, Gears 2 is the only guaranteed day 1 purchase for me.

I really don't think they need to keep making these games. I love SotN and CotM but I haven't even touched Aria, Harmony (and probably won't get Dawn or Portrait).

2D Castlevanias are going the way of the NIS strategy games (although Castlevania games are better I think).

If they could incorporate the 2D gameplay into a 3D Castlevania things might be more interesting. The 3D games thus far really suck (they lack exploration and play out like DMC/Dynasty Warriors knockoffs).

Yeah, they need to make a 3D castlevania that plays like the metroid prime games in the sense of having a lot of exploration, opening up new areas when you get powers etc.

Metroid made the transition to 3D extremely well, there's no reason the Castlevania games that ripped off Super Metroid couldn't do the same thing and do it well if they put a good development team behind it.

Well, I can understand why you'd want to go outside the castle for once. It's just that the environments they chose for PoR were lame. In the new Castlevania's trailer, they showed off an ice-covered place for a few seconds, and that looked interesting - that's what they should've done last time. Some place that's still sorta cold and dark, but not necessarily in the castle.

inFamous - The Heroes meets Crackdown vibe and Sucker Punch's talent has me excited for this game as a contender for the most underrated game of the year, like Uncharted last year.
Resistance 2 - I enjoyed the first, but it seems like Insomniac's figured out what they need to do to step up their game this year and I cannot wait to see what they've come up with.
LittleBigPlanet - This looks like such a fun game and like N+, it looks so easy to make cool, interesting levels.
Rock Band 2 - As great as the first game was, there are still improvements to be made to the World Tour mode and character creator, though the guaranteed compatability with RB instruments will guarantee my purchase over GHIV and RR.
PixelJunk Eden - I barely understand what the hell's going on in the game, but it's looking like another great game from the PixelJunk brand.
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift - The first had good gameplay, but repetitive environments, so this is looking great with a mixture of environments to spice up the game's visuals.
Wipeout HD - Looks great and the addition of custom soundtrack and even a game mode just for that feature adds to the potentially great game.
Too Human - Looks like a fun action RPG with a ton of weapons to collect.
Fable 2 - I'm approaching this with cautious optimism after the first game's overhyped release, though I look forward to visit my friends' houses and killing their families.
Castle Crashers - Took a lot longer to come out than I'd have liked, but it looks like the extra time wasn't wasted. Hopefully MS's certification process doesn't cause too much of a delay.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia - Who doesn't enjoy a gameboy castlevania game?

Disgaea DS - I actually never played the PS2 or PSP version, so this is a must buy for me over time. My wife liked La Pucelle Tactics so I'll probably pick this up for her.

Dragon Quest IV/V - Getting eventually for collection purposes.

Final Fantasy IV - Not sure when I'll buy this. This depends on reviews/how much better of a remake it is of the original. If not much then bargain bin it is. I already beat the game three times lol.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift - Never beat the original but I want to own this sequel. Not exactly a must have from what I've seen so far.

Burnout Paradise (PC) - Didn't pick up the 360 version, but will pick up the PC version on the cheap.

Devil May Cry 4 (PC) - After playing the PC demo, this looks even better on my PC then the 360. A must have for any PC owners out there.

Fallout 3 (PC) - It might play like Oblivion but no one cares. Another must have.

Prince of Persia (PC) - Not sure what system I'll get this for, but most likely PC.

Starcraft 2 (PC) - LOL. I wish it was coming out in 08.

Persona 4 (PS2) - Might be the last PS2 game I buy at full price, ever?

Madworld (WII) - If you enjoyed the style of NMH then I'm sure you'll enjoy this.

NHL2k9 (WII) - If this turns out good in controls I will consider it a must own.

Fable 2 (360) - I enjoyed the first one a lot but I'll wait for a sale.

Gears of War 2 (360) - Probably the biggest "must have" third/first person shooter this holiday season.

Absolutely. Some of the awesomeness, particularly in the plot, comes from having played the previous games, but even if you haven't played those, the game is so damn polished that it's still incredible. And there's like... a bajillion ways to play through the game.
