They've never taken a serious stab at fighting games...only one that comes to mind is Martial Champion, which was just another game that tried to cash in on the 2D fighter craze without doing anything good/interesting.

I am going batshit at how the face scarf bryan has in tekken 6... that looks so badass...

I always had a problem with how freaking hard it was to get most items in VF games, though I loved it when it first started the trend in VF4...

Getting some items in VF5 is a bitch for sure. I have all of Aoi's items, and that took me a good week and over 1100 quest mode matches.

My AI Wolf in VF4 was pretty good. I'd train him, then let him fight in quest mode for a while. I think he topped out at 2nd dan.

America's Best Dance Crew is sort of lame this season. There are some entertaining crews but it all feels sort of flat compared to the first season. For some reason I think they are going to keep around the crew with the deaf member as long as they can to keep ratings going.

Try playing vs the Japanese players, even with 250 + ping, GGPO still transfers the gameplay nicely via the netcode... (of course your results may vary)... But I have a good time vs Koreans and Japanese players with 190+ ping...

Hmm, kick ass fighting game on the train on the way to campus? Yes, I believe I would. Already tired of GG and Tekken. SFA3:Max and Darkstalkers...couldn't get the controls consistent. For some reason didn't have that problem with GG, even though it's essentially the same (maybe they adjusted the timings or made it more forgiving??)

Probably not in any way that would benefit Capcom. I'd wind up waiting until it dropped to 10-15 bucks on clearance somewhere. I have enough games that are well-suited to portables to really worry about fighting games on the go.

I have a 250gb HDD in my PS3. I think that's the limit.

The save file thing reaaally bugs me though. When I look at it I think the 360 has the same issue, but then it'd require the HDD on the 360 to play it which Microsoft wouldn't allow. It looks like a mistake to me, or else I think it's pulling a Brawl where it marks its' territory first and won't let you get that space back even if you don't use it.

But, I don't think this is true. I've heard the install cap on PS3 is 5gb.

So yeah, after checking around xbox.com, I found that Sould Calibur IV on the 360 requires the hard drive (it lists storage device), and that means hard drive because even though games need a memory card to save, it doesn't say so on the back.

I'm actually shocked at how easy most of them are. I figured you would have had a few that only someone hardcore people would get... like win 500 online battles.

And, it's the 360 version of SCIV for me. Granted I would like to have Vader I can live with Yoda. And I wouldn't be shocked to see them as DLC somewhere down the line(even if they say we won't). Also I have a friend who probably be getting it for the 360... I'll need to train to defeat him... But I'm still kind of on the fence about getting the regular or LE.

SC IV isn't the only reason I'm getting the 360 stick for. I have a few XBLA games that I'd prefer using an arcade stick to play. Anyway after playing SC on XBLA for a while, I think I can see the appeal of an arcade stick. Some the attacks can be hard to pull off becuase of the way you hold the controller and the button layout... but thats may just be me.

RE: Battle Fantasia, AKSYS finally announced a US release for both PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles! The US version will be SUPERIOR to the Japanese release. I can't give out specific details but expect AKSYS to update on it soon.

So yea, then I checked out the arcade at Anime Expo to scope out the Tekken competition, played some matches and noticed a girl beasting on fools over at the CVS2 machine. She was cosplayed out and was using a P groove team, beasting the shit out of Sagat scrubs... it was WOW!

I played SC IV for a good while testing and comparing both the PS3/360 versions... the builds available at the show were 3 months old, the initial build 1up had. Playable characters included Mitsurugi, Hilde and Siegfried...

Both versions look amazing. The load times on the 360 one seemed faster (on the build)... graphics wise they are equal IMO. I didn't notice any slow down, but we'll see how it ends up on the final version.

Gameplay wise there are a lot of changes/tweaks to the characters. I'll go in depth on that in the Fighting Game thread. I don't trust 1UP's Shane Bettenhausen and his recent comments on game balance on the latest 1up podcast lol.

Just this past week two big name arcades, Sunnyvale Golf Land and Milpitas Golf Land, both received Tekken 6 arcade machines! Now there are three Tekken 6 machines in California and bumps up the total number of T6 machines in the US to SIX! Here is the information for the newest arcade locations:

after like a billion years i played a fighting game against a real person.

cvs2 was fun. my custom combos actually came out. opponent was getting mad at me when I did shoshosho for the block damage.

t5: dr was frustrating. i play ling and doing d+1 instead of df+1 was annoying as hell so I lost and got super mad.

and then GGAC, the only thing i know how to do is Jam's loop which can potentially do 75% damage. i got my ass kicked in the first round and was gonna get wiped in the second when i did the combo and the other guy was like... whoa.

I was thinking about how much I like DMC4 on the PC, and now am wondering if Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom is on the MT Framework engine, as well... something tells me it is.

It'd be cool having a whopping 3 non-MAME fighters on PC.

I was relieved at first, but then went back to worried. Ah well, I'll just hold off on it until I hear what this other-stuff-I-don't-know-about is. >_<

And there is the whole laptop factor. I've warmed up to SF IV by now, so if I could play that wherever, online with GGPO, that'd be unsane (the next step up from insane.)

I honestly think I'm more excited for Street Fighter IV than any other fighter this year... and I really didn't think that'd be the case.

Anyone else playing SBX? I'd like to learn strategies for playing Mouri. Seems like a Dhalsim-ish type character, for my lack of a better comparison. Otherwise, I'll probably just shoto-it with Date.

With Mouri play keep away till your engun level reaches to level 100. You should be able to reach level 100 in about a round since his engun levels the fastest in the game.

Thanks Smallwind. I did notice that when I was playing against the AI. Once the CPU got to 100 the AI used it often. Very annoying when he's also throwing out those energy rings and the little fireballs.

just a quick question but my curiosity has been wondering this for a while...


when you guys play fighters, is it more about the win or more about the fight?


for me I could care less about winning to be honest. If I lose all my fights to a good player or even lose them all to an ass player but overall had good rounds/plays, I find more joy in that than winning. Winning is more icing on the cake for me than the main course.

I used to care about winning a lot when first getting into competitive play about 10 years ago... Now I don't care. It's the FUN factor now... for me I have fun by learning the games and seeing new things... CRAZY things... etc.
