If you don't like JRPGs (as I don't), there isn't a lot. D&D: Tactics is much more "tactical" than "RPG" but it's almost a great game. Unfortunately the party/gear management is a nightmare. I'd still recommend playing it for a someone looking for a non-JRPG alternative.
