Playing Crackdown now. Picked it up off Goozex last month.
It took me a while to get into it but I'm having a blast now that I've got the hang of it. Just fun as hell to run around jumping building to building, and pretty easy to focus on the story quests as well which is a plus for me as I get bored with most sandbox games. I have one general and the mob boss left for the first gang.

The thing that annoys me with that design is that they ate so much space off of the shelves with those legs. The 360 and PS3 could barely sit side by side (to say nothing of ventilation) on that shelf. The receiver would have to be on its own, or just with the Wii. Just a weird design choice.
Definitely true.
I just have the receiver on the bottom by itself, my HD cable box and DVD player stacked on the middle shelf and the 360 by itself on the top shelf. It's definitely not a great stand if you have multiple consoles. When I still had my PS2 and Wii they were on the top shelf and the 360 on the hardwood floor beside the TV.
I doubt I'll ever have more than one console at a time from now on since I just don't game that much, so it works for me as I like nice, neat, minimalist designs--another reason I doubt I'll own multiple consoles. Just looks like crap having a TV rack full of gaming crap in the living room!

Went to GS the other day to pick up my MGS4 LE, guy asked if I wanted the Guide also but I said nah. He's all "You're gonna regret it later on, the game is pretty hard", but I just tell him no thanks. I'm about to leave the counter and he says he's going to laugh when I come back in for it, so I laugh like "Oh, good one", then he gives this smug ass look and says "No, seriously, I will"
fuck YOU!
They didn't give me my artbook thingy either but I really don't want to look at that guy's face again, I might pop him one.
Thats fucked up man, I don't blame you at all. If it makes you feel better I got robbed of the art book too.
Blocking in NG2 is worse. Pretty much every attack beyond the first one breaks your defenses. Shurikens always hit, you no matter's going on, so it's useless there too.
Evade more, block less.

Yea, I wasn't in the mood to deal with him at all. I did go back today, a different guy was working the counter and he just said ok, cracked open the cabinet, and gave me one. There were at least 15-20 more in there from my view o_O
I actually this this artbook is pretty nifty, better than the DMC4 one, but the thing about one of the models, yea...that's ain't too attractive there. Reminds me of Austin Powers

I should have MGS4 beat today. I had a little problem with beating Screaming Mantis, but I finally figured out what to do to win, and then saved right after so that I could savor the ending today.
I will prolly start on that P3 FES soon, too. But not until tomorrow, cause if I start today I know I won't get any sleep, and since I only got about 3 hours yesterday, I need the rest. ;)
And I drive much better in real life than in video games. Especially in racing games, I do whatever it takes to win and will abuse the vehicle to its limits to cross the finish line first. But in real life, I am a very safe and confident driver who hasn't had any accident at all in over 10 years.
I just saw that DMC4 at Gamefly is going for $19.99 used and I am very tempted to bite on that deal.

I've not really messed around with online, but it seems pretty slick in that it hop in, hop out. There's few, if any, menus in the game.
Does the DMC series have a story to the point that I should read or watch something before I play 4? Or is it nonsensical like NG and just for the gameplay?

Sorry, I gotta double post here a rant/rage. My fucking AIM decided to sign off all my accounts. Now I cannot fucking get back on, regardless of what program I used. I tried signing onto 6 or more AIM screennames I have, and only one worked for a short time. This is really pissing me off, since I spend at least 84 hours a week on AIM (being around it), and I cannot live without AIM.
Anyway, about to play some SingStar. If my family is home, I may play MGS4 before lunch time.

I have beaten MGS4. Truly a masterpiece game, but I do have one HUGE complaint. (Not a much of a spoiler, but I will wrap it just in case you are holding out some hope.) You never get a chance to kill the damn monkey. I have some other complaints about the game, but overall the presentation, story, and gameplay are of the highest caliber, and it deserves a position among the 100 best video games available.
And I tried to pull the trigger on the DMC4 deal, but the website keeps freezing up, so maybe I'll try again in a little while.

Uhh, DMC is way more story oriented then Ninja Gaiden. DMC4 takes place after DMC1. The story in DMC goes like this: DMC3-DMC1-DMC4-DMC2. So if I were you, and you planned on playing the DMC games, I'd play DMC3 first and then DMC1 before playing DMC4. If you didn't want to do that, I think you tube has both DMC1/DMC3 stories on there, so you can just watch them before playing DMC4.

Which makes it about 2 notches above MGS's story.. lol.

No problem man, I think it's pretty important to know the back story on certain "things" in DMC4. I know if I just jumped into DMC4 without playing any other DMC games I would have no clue wtf was going on with certain "things" in the story. Anyway played more MGS4 last night and finished up act 4. I should start act 5 tonight after the work, act 4 was really cool though. Fucking Nostalgia when you heard past conversations that were in flashback mode. Plus seeing the old place again, really made me feel good. Also crying wolf was a decent challenge for myself, seems like the snow field is always a good spot for great battles. Also Raiden holding back the ship "Outer Haven" from crashing into/killing Snake was fucking amazing. Dude cut his own fucking arm off to protect Snake. Is anyone else's respect for Raiden through the roof like mine is? Also <3'ed the Rex vs Ray battle it was really an interesting fight. I also now want to go back through MGS2 so I can play as Raiden.

So, you've barely played them, but you have a preference of it over NG?
Could it be because NG's Xbox origins and DMC's PS2 origins? Not really to be honest. The main reason is I actually beat the first DMC (At the time I beat it, I was no PS2 fan, Xbox was my console preference) and I did play the third one for some time. I'm half-way through the 4th. I like DMC before I've invested more time in it (the time I put into NG isn't all that much). DMC1 is easily one of my favorite action games ever and I still go back to play it (I still prefer Zone of the Enders series over anything else). The entire reason I did not buy NG or DMC3 early on was why pay $50 for a game I was going to get stuck early on in (I rented both) and just have it sit on my shelf with 500+ other games? The main reason I was able to get into DMC more was because of more storyline, and storyline is very important to me in an action game. It also helps that I really like vampires, castles, etc. NG2 on the other hand has much more story (based on what I played on the demo), so I'm definitely wanting it. However, every once in a while there's an exception (because I absolutely love Gun Valkyrie on the original Xbox and beat it numerous times).
Originating on PlayStation means nothing, because I liked Panzer Dragoon Orta on Xbox more than any of those games (I know its a different genre). I definitely liked NG more than Nightshade and Shinobi on PS2. And I still despite GTA games despite being a huge success on PS2.

What genre do you like? I only have 2D shooters and fighting games, of which Saturn is awesome for. But there's a few RPGs and puzzlers that are good (if a bit dated) too.
And I'd pick up what zew suggests from somewhere's like PA. The cart will not only bypass region-lock, but it will help you play certain games that need more memory.

There's always better things to do with money than to spend it on games or other hobbies.
Saving for down payment on house, saving for retirement, saving for emergencies, saving for child's education, making needed home improvements.
You'll learn this once you're not in college or living with your parents. The key's to learn to budget so you can still enjoy hobbies but also have enough money saved up for all the important things in life.

daroga, that is so awesome. I think I'm going to do that myself!
TMK: Didn't know you were a big vampire fan. Although I don't know why, I too am drawn to vampiric stuff. Vampires are fuckin' awesome. I've seen like almost every vampire movie/anime there is. lol.
While on the subject of anime, I've been watching quite a few series as of late... Code Geass R2, Vampire Knight, Claymore , rewatching Gundam 0080, Macross Frontier, Persona Trinity Soul, watching some classic Hokuto No Ken among other series... But what I really want to see/can't wait for is GUNDAM 00 S2. CAN'T WAIT. BTW, although Macross Frontier is relatively new, I think it has one of the best OSTs in quite some time. Go Yoko Kanno! (Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne Movie, Turn A Gundam, etc.)
Back to video games.
NES.
Also, I am so pumped for STREET FIGHTER IV.
I think my gunmetal PS3s came in today, I hope to have a nice surprise when I get home later!

After pre-ordering Yggdra Union for the PSP( I never got around to picking up the GBA version), I started thinking about replaying Riviera: The Promised Land... But I'm not really sure if I should right now. It's up for preorder? I didn't know, but I shouldn't buy. I'm suppose to be getting rid of games.
Terminal illness?
I just don't take care of myself too well and have some poor health. Like I constantly eat too much junk food and drink too much pop (I'm skinny, but have that problem) and rarely eat healthy.

Let's just say I like Vampires in games. I liked the Legacy of Kain Blood Omen games, DMC, Casltevania, etc. type games. I dunno, I just love the setting and slaying vampires in games.

Yeah, I really liked the 1st season of 00. But most of all I look forward to see more Sumeragi... She's like the love child of Bright Noa and Misato Katsuragi. Also did Macross Frontier air last week? I need my Pixie Squad fix...

Who even cares about 2.36 then? All the shit people would give a damn about is in the (hopefully) next release.
I got the Xbox people to cancel my gold subscription after about 8 emails, but I still can't get on XBL coz my account's suspended becoz I didn't pay :(
I still don't intend to resubscribe to Gold until maybe November, so I guess I won't be updating my 360 anytime soon.

I'm enjoying it a lot so far. Still working on the first gang--one general and a mob boss left.
The Superhero aspect definitely makes a difference. It's fun as hell jumping from building to building, and addictive to try to build up your stats so you can do more crazy stuff.

Save more and you can retire younger when you can still do fun stuff. Seems like most here don't do anything but surf the net and play games...not like you need to be young to do that. ;)

Not much. The two unreleased games I want the most (Animal Crossing Wii and StarCraft 2) might be out before the end of the year, but nothing's confirmed. Can't wait for E3...
My next new game purchase will most likely be FFTA2. I can wait for price drops on just about everything else I'm interested in at the moment. Hell, I'll probably wait on a price drop for FFTA2 as well, since it's gonna be FORTY FuckING DOLLARS.

The Answer in Persona 3 Fes reminds me a lot of the reverse castle in Symphony of the Night... it's still really fun, but it's more or less just a palette-swapped remix of the first part of the game... with higher difficulty.
And I'm a good ways into The Answer and it's still nowhere near as tough as Persona 2.
I cannot believe how much game they squeezed onto a single disc with Persona 3 FES.
I really hope Persona 4 does come out this year. I also hope the other RPGs slated for this year and next year don't suck a D. In all likelihood, Star Ocean 4 will...

Damn, I just found out this morning that one of my best friends from way back may have commited suicide. They aren't saying it is definate yet, but all signs are pointing to suicide. I haven't seen or talked to the guy for years tho, but he and I had been buds since 5th grade and we went thru alot together, including being roommates for a few years. We had kind of had a falling out about 4 years ago about the way he walked out on his 2nd wife and his son, but we didn't exchange any harsh words or anything. I always believed we would find each other again some day (my parents and his still live about a mile away from each other).
Started up Persona 3 Fes to try and get my mind off it. I really like the art style and general presentation, but I only just explored the first floor of Tarterus so I'm still getting a feel for the gameplay aspect. So far the only thing that I could complain about is that the voice acting is a little iffy at times. Otherwise, I think its gonna be a fun RPG to keep me occupied for awhile.
Oh, and Botticus! How is Etrian Odyssey II?? I'm really considering picking it up. Even tho I haven't finished the first one yet, it was such a bitch to find that I think I may go ahead and grab it while it is available.

So now not only are Dell dead to me , but so is the PS3. Not that it's Sony's fault that Dell shafted me, but it is their fault that they can't provide a decent amount of stock, so they can shove that triple were the sun doesn't shine

Mind you reading Krymner's post puts my own minor problems into perspective at least. There's a recent thread at GAF (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=313967) about them having more shipments later on. Reasons for the limited shipment were:
-SCEA could not bundle MGS4 until Konami finished printing the game (which did not happen until two or so weeks before release.
-The 80GB consoles currently used are indeed using the original motherboards they had lying around and components. Starting back production on it takes a while. And there's no way SCEA will ever release a flood of the 80GB consoles, for one main reason, they lose money on it (along with them trying to stick to having one SKU on store shelves, where it appears they will occasionally release an 80GB, but that's it, it will always be a limited SKU since Sony no longer wants to be the most expensive).
There is a chance the 40GB will play PS2 games one day (rumors of a firmware upgrade to make it happen are around). Also, SCEJ was looking for people to work on PS2 emulation. The only thing that makes it uncertain is the PS2's GS has an insane fill rate, which cannot easily be duplicated.
I made a really long explanation as to what it is Sony has been thinking, but I doubt you'd be interested in hearing. But if you are interested in one, they will come again later this month.

Then I go through the second set and end up in an area for a thing (forget what it's called) where I have to swing my sword several times to make blue flames appear, and once all appear, it's activated. That's where I am, but cannot figure out where to advance. Sorry, I forget many of the terminology (I play so many games and it has been a while since I played). When I start to head back, I end up where I started the level at (it seems like the thing I activated, did nothing). I just cannot find anywhere to go.

So I played a few matches of MGO last night. But none counted due to a shitty connection with the host and the game error out after winning both games. I don't think I will be playing that much. I love the game, but until it gets patched, I am done.

That reminds me that the GameStop dude told a guy who was looking for the MGS bundle that 40GBs will play PS2 games now. Luckily they guy was didn't give a shit and I haven't really been paying attention to such things or I would have had to speak up.

Also, my birthday's coming up soon and I'd like to get the FFVII Play Arts Vol. 2 figures (Sephiroth, Vincent, Yuffie, and Red XIII and Cait Sith [w/o moogle]... the Squeenix Online Merch Shop has them in stock now) as a present to myself, but I'm broke.

*Wow* I beat MGS4 last night.... *Wow* What an amazing game, I am already planning on a second play through as well. Since some parts of the story I didn't understand/missed some of it so replaying it and focusing more on it will help. I have to say Act 4 and Act 5 were the best acts in the game. Both were so fucking awesome for totally different reasons. I am sad that it's over, I agree with game spots complaint which is "It ends" One thing I wish would of happened is Snake thanking Raiden for all he did for him. I mean the dude saved his ass more then once, and I was expecting Snake to thank him at least one time during the game. (Act 5) I mean hell Raiden thanked Snake for talking him out of going deeper into the microwave room, and locking the door. At least Snake could of done was thank Raiden for saving him.
Also can someone tell me this How did Snake miss shooting himself at the end? I mean you clearly hear the gun as it end his mouth, so I thought for sure he shot himself. I missed what he said when it came back to the scene with him on the ground drenched with tears. So can someone just let me know that.
MGS4 has the what I think is the greatest scene in any video game.
The microwave hallway scene. I was actually yelling at the screen, tears welling up in my eyes.
Rei: Same here my friend, that was one of my favorite scenes ever. I had tears in my eyes yelling at snake and slamming triangle saying "Cmon Snake go! You can't let all these people down! You can't let Raiden down, mother fucker saved your life, now save his!! Great scene.

I would have been pissed if i had missed out on the 80gb too- apparently that's the last of them, and the 40GB sucks. I've already used like 30gb on mine and I only have two games.. Sony is stupid for not having a 80gb with 60gb insides.
The PS2 emulation sucks on the 80, I'm going to have to keep my PS2, it seems. Most PS2 games look really muddy and bad. Doesn't upscale like the 360 does on its backwards compatability emulation..

Yeah, I agree. It's almost as if by his silence, Snake was saying "Meh, I could have done it myself. Frank was a better Ninja in MGS1, you hose."

My guess is that he just pulled the gun out of his mouth at the last second and shot up into the air. That, or he is just really bad ass and eats bullets like candy. I can't remember what he said, but maybe it was something like "Mmm, tastes like Skittles."

wait, the 80 doesn't upscale? Sure it's not just turned off? That was a feature added into the firmware for the 20/60 models when the 80 came on the scene I thought. The 80GB PS3 upscales. All PS3 models upscale PS/PS2 games, just check the resolution settings. However, to do the upscaling, you gotta enable it.
Almost picked up Lost Planet Colonies last night for $20 on 360 at my local wal-mart last night. Worth it? or should I just grab the pc version because it's that much better.
Sounds like a great price to me. I want the game, but never saw it that cheap. That's actually about the price I'll sell two certain games to you also sometime. ;) I was at Wal-Mart today, but didn't really bother paying attention.
it sort of does, but it looks really blurry and a bit crap. I play counterstrike on 360 with BC a lot and it comes out a lot sharper.Upscaling quality varies by game. The 360 does have a hardware scaler that helps, while the PS3 only has a horizontal scaler (they have to use the power of the cell to do it I believe). DVD upscaling on PS3 is great, but PS/PS2 upscaling varies. 2D games like the Atelier Iris series, Shining Tears, etc. look fantastic with the upscaling. A game like DMC3 and a few others look terrible upscaled. Part of the reason for the varying qualities is PS3 uses a general upscaler/EE emulator (for the 80GB). It's not like they try upscaling each game individually, it's more of a general upscaler (due to different graphic engines, some games will look better, some worse, some no difference). That is why for some games, you'll need to remove the smoothing to look decent (some games just look too blurry, while some games need the blurring or they'll look too jagged).
The upscaling is just better in the 360, daroga. But it plays a smaller percentage of Xbox games when compared to the 20GB/60GB/80GB PS3 SKUs. That's the trade-off you get for more dedicated upscaling. It's like,
On PS3, since there is some hardware used for PS2 BC (80GB just has the EE emulated, but still requires the GS and its corresponding components). By having hardware, there isn't much you can do to improve the quality. As in upscaling, all they do is stretch the image and apply a smoother (since HDTVs like AA).
On 360, since each game is emulated separately, while being emulated, MS can upscale each game individually to its best setting. But at the same time, going with this method, also means fewer Xbox games becoming BC.
Since I'm not a fan of either, I just stopped caring about playing Xbox games on my 360 (half my games work) and PS2 games on my PS3. I will admit, I do tell people to not buy a PS3 just for PS2 upscaling (if they never had a PS2 and want to play PS2 games on PS3, that's understandable, or just want to have less devices sitting around).

fixed that for you. PS2 games look like a blurry mess on PS3.Read my entire post Jer, I explain everything more detailed. You can turn OFF the smoother effect on the PS2 upscaling if you don't like it. Like I said, 360 has the upscaling advantage because MS has to emulate every Xbox game separately. PS2 upscaling cannot do much since the PS2 hardware is already in the PS3 (The 80GB still uses mostly hardware, although the EE is software emulated). This leads to more games being compatible, when compared to the 360. But when you get more games compatible, you also lose the ability to carefully upscale each game individually to its best results.
Seriously jer, play a game like Atelier Iris, DDR games, etc. on PS3 and try telling me the upscaling looks like crap. You're judging this based on one or a few games, and like I said, it varies. Some games DO look like crap, some LOOK nice, and some have zero difference when compared to how they'd look on an SDTV (just fitted for an HDTV). I've said this over and over again in the PS3 forum, upscaling completely varies by game.

I dunno, I get the feeling everything Raiden did for Snake in MGS4 was a thank you for helping him during the events in MGS2. So I don't think was expecting a thank you from Snake. Also Raiden thanked Snake not only for talking him out of going deeper into that microwave room, but also making him realize he did have something else to live for. Of course it took multiple talks for Snake to drill that into Raiden skull...

It's kinda weird, but you need to experiment a bit.Yeah, it's basically the same thing as me (who doesn't really drink beer) trying Miller Lite, saying it's disgusting, then assuming all beers are disgusting like Miller Lite, when some beers taste better than others. I'm no beer drinker (lol, partially because my Dad would abuse me if I started drinking), will never be one, but that's a good comparison.
Anyway, bought Secret Agent Clank today at Gamestop with the rest of my credit. I wanted it, but part of me kind of wishes I waited for FFT A2. I'll get that too eventually.

Yeah, that chart is a good one, though it seems a bit more favorable of 1080p than others I've seen (which suggested not much difference until under 10 feet). I sit about 10.5 feet from my 50" TV, so I just went with 720p. It wasn't worth the extra cost last summer to go to a 720p model as I couldn't tell a difference standing 10-11 feet from the sets.
Again the real test is just to go look for yourself--different people are more picky and can more easily see the differences. I'm not a videophile at all, so I'm not very critical on such things.

I've played two levels. The rest of the game is sort of similar. The first level is fighting in the middle of this fort then the second level you take Nariko's sister and start shooting arrows at enemies that you can direct with SIXAXIS controls. It is pretty cool but like I said I rented it. This game is supposed to be VERY short.
I've planned out a speaker system that will last me through college. (HS senior in September) It will probably cost me a third of my summer job's pay.
Receiver - Yamaha RX-V663
Does the same job as the Onkyo 6 series with lossless codecs from Blu-rays and upscaling from standard sources but supposedly runs much cooler.
Fronts - Paradigm Atom Monitors
My Dad has floorstanding Paradigm fronts in our family room/HT and Paradigm is thee company for speakers.
Center - Paradigm CC-190
*See fronts*
Steal Dad's old sub and fronts(to use as surrounds)
They should be stop gaps until I can afford Paradigm Titans to use as fronts and I can relegate the Atoms to surrounds and his old sub is just fine.
Should be $350 for the receiver, $250 for the Atoms, and $200 for the CC-190.

What would you recommend? In terms of a bedroom and dorm room set-up. Keep in mind I'm on a budget but if something is really worth it I can deal. I would prefer to spend less though as my made up $800 budget is probably already pushing it. I'm kind of set on the Yamaha V663 receiver though. Yeah, I also highly doubt MGS4 will ever see a 360 port. There really isn't much incentive for it, and any extra-type of content will be available via PSN DLC instead of a retail disc. If anything, they may do a MGO-release for the 360, because I've been hearing rumors that the current MGO is just a prelude to something larger, but that is stretching it.

I wouldn't be shocked it they went with a retail release for the directors cut of MGS4(or whatever they call it). They know fans of the series will gladly pay for it. I think the DLC for MGS4 will probablyy be additional content for MGO, Cameo and MP3s/Podcasts.

Not too much gaming around here lately. I've been busy writing melody and lyrics for some new songs for my band's upcoming gig on the 28th. I did get to play some more GTA today. I've slowly been making my way through the story missions. I just unlocked Brucie's chopper ability and did the first Playboy mission. Good stuff. I've had the game since launch, but I don't get much time with it because my 2 yr old seems to enjoy quoting some of the game's nasty language so I can't play when she's around.

Am sending back Assassins Creed today to gamefly; didn't beat it but I have played enough. I found it a little weird how foggy it is everywhere and how athletic and gymnastic those guards are. I wish our security guards could jump rooftop to rooftop.
Will be starting up Ninja Gaiden 2 again, and will probably end up starting MGS4 next week.

My 360 RROD'd tonight :bomb::bomb::bomb:
It's weird as it's be running fine for two years and I've had no problems with it recently, then BANG, gone. I sorta had it in my head that as it had lasted this long that maybe it wouldn't break, false sense of security mayhaps.:)
Went straight to BB and picked up a 360 Arcade pack to replace it, and jumped on their GTA IV $50 GC deal while I was there.
It's not such a bad thing though, I've got an HDMI 360 which is much quiter than my old one. I'm kinda glad my Dell order for that triple fell through, two new consoles in a week would have been a bit annoying.
EDIT - Oh and Pacman CE is the stone cold nuts, I fecking love it.

That is true Chibi. I don't think Raiden expected a thank you, I just kinda of wanted to see Snake give him one. I could not believe it when he came into there with no fucking arms and fighting them with the sword in his mouth!!!

I don't even know that it's that. A lot of people who think it will eventually be ported don't care much about actually playing the game.
I think there's a decent chance it will get ported over sometime (maybe 40% if I had to put a number on it), but it's not out of hope to play it since I'll never buy a PS3. I couldn't give a shit less about the game as I've never liked the series. I hate stealth gameplay, hate long cut scenes, and hate non-sensical plots--so clearly the series isn't my cup of tea. :D

I hate stealth gameplay, hate long cut scenes, and hate non-sensical plots--so clearly the series isn't my cup of tea. :DI've already given my lengthy reason in the 360 forum, but let's just say, the game has sold the numbers Kojima was at least looking for (even surpassed), there's no way Kojima himself wants to bother with a port (and Konami doesn't exactly many other skilled development teams out there still, except for the Castlevania team which has their own projects), and late ports just don't sell regardless (Bioshock isn't going to sell too well on PS3). They game says exclusively on PS3 in so many places. And if there are any series Sony will fund to keep exclusive, MGS and FF are their two main priorities (they are two series which have heavily defined PlayStation).
I created my MGO character, but have not played online. I'm looking to play once I finish MGS4. I'm around 30% complete.

I agree it would be a late port and not sell much. But Konami could farm the port out to some crappy development team, and still sell enough of the half assed port to make a profit. But Sony could shell out money to keep it exclusive--just not sure it's worthwhile to put out more money after it's sold all the consoles it's going to sell (say a year or 2 down the road) when the Playstation division has bled money all generation.
Again, if it doesn't come I couldn't care less as I hate the series.

It'll be ported to the 360. The quality of that port remains to be seen. Some extra compression and disc spanning would make it work just fine, though.

Again, if it doesn't come I couldn't care less as I hate the series.Actually, you are not completely right about the PlayStation division bleeding money all generation. Early on, they were because the 20GB, 60GB, and partially the 80GB were losing them money (the old 20GB and 60GB lost Sony $240-$300 per console, while it's believed the 80GB loses $100). The main reason they only make the 40GB in most regions is, they don't lose anything from it (or if they do, it's just a few dollars due to retail loyalty). That was why they made the SKU, in order to break even (while they do profit from every PS2 and PSP sold). I made a post around my reason here (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4494159&postcount=19). MGS4 usually does the best in Europe, and that is where PS3 is the strongest (where it's number 2 overall, not in the U.K., but all of Europe combined). MGS is a big enough series to be exclusive (to where it can sell and break even). A franchise like Zone of the Enders (which I really want to see a new one of), it would most likely have to be multi (I don't have enough faith in the 360 or PS3 userbase along bringing in enough sales) would make perfect sense to bring to more than one platform.
I mostly want to see Kojima use the MGS4 engine for another game, but wonder what it may be. I'd love to see a new ZOE, but I kind of wonder if I'd like to see it use a MGS4 type engine, or whether I'd like it to be more anime based.
It'll be ported to the 360. The quality of that port remains to be seen. Some extra compression and disc spanning would make it work just fine, though. The difference between userbases isn't that big PS3 is ahead of 360 in Europe and Japan, but 360 has the userbase in the U.S.). Plus, remember how MGS2: Substance sold on the original Xbox? It was a late port; therefore, it did not sell. That's why Konami didn't bother porting MGS3. If MGS3 wasn't ported (only came to PC), I really doubt MGS4 will be ported. Maybe next gen, we'll see a remake on MGS4 on the next Xbox, but I doubt it. Kojima even said himself, he wants to stick MGS to PlayStation. If he makes a 360 game, it would most likely be a newer IP just for them (The entire MGS saga has been on PlayStation (except for the GBC one)) and the stories have followed. Many of those who may have been more loyal to MS (not owning a PS), may not know what's going on. The game still uses 50GB, which is quite a lot.
The game will not be ported, anytime soon, that's what I can say. Payton said himself, exclusives are needed on every console to keep competition healthy (which it does). The only thing we may get is MGS4 Sub something on PS3. I showed it before, late ports just don't sell regardless of what platform they start on. People who own a 360 will probably most likely be interested in Splinter Cell on 360 (which is exclusive, although development has been taking a while) since it will be specialized for the 360 and it's exclusive. Bioshock will be ignored on PS3 since Resistance 2 and others come out (and I guarantee no one is going to buy Overlord on PS3 either).

Nice, Joe.
A lot of people who think it will eventually be ported don't care much about actually playing the game. You think so? I think there are a lot of folks who only have a Circle and want to play the game.
Of course, I also see people in GS who trade in one system and all their games towards another system because X just came out and they want to play that and it's only on the Y. Huge waste in my opinion, because they'll want their old system back in time for game Z. I've always had every main console as there's always something that's only on that system or it's miles better on this system.
and hate non-sensical plots--I'm with you on this. Whenever a MGS game coms out, people act like Kojima is God of the Universe, and I play the games and the stories and character interactions sound like they were writen by a kid in junior high. I'm fine with being out there saving the world and facing down enemies. I even like that some enemies (fodder) are standard realistic types, while others are supervillian/ superpowered types. That's grand. But it's traditional japanese story/characters with the bleeding heart emo histories and speeches that make me want to bang my head against a wall.
Some people seem to be into that, and if so I'm glad they enjoy the games. I'd just enjoy them 100000% more if the plots/stories were written with more sanity in mind.
Mana, I read your reasons for why you feel the game won't be ported, but that doesnt answer my question. I still don't get why anyone would be bothered if other people out there hoping this game or others get ported to other systems. If they're dreaming and it never gets ported, too bad for them. If it does, good for them. Either way... why worry about it?
Is AIM is behaving for people again?I wouldn't know. Apparantly no one loves me this morning.

Resident Evil 4
Tales of Symphonia (JP)
Overall, you're right though. In Japan and Europe (where GC had an extremely tiny userbase), they did sell. But in the U.S. (not too sure about overall), RE4 did better on GC.
ToS is understandable, since Namco pretty much had ToD2 exclusive to PS2 and ToR was coming. Putting a Tales on another platform (where most of its fans already bought one) kind of led to it performing better on PS3 in Japan (although ToS on GC is the best selling Tales due to worldwide sales). If Konami were to make an MGS exclusive to 360 early on, then make MGS4 exclusive to PS3, then I could definitely see it selling well on 360 since the fanbase was kind of put on 360 early.
The way I feel overall is, bring a games to all platforms early on, or just don't bother at all. Although I have not bought Bioshock, I'm still liking to buy it on 360 because it's cheaper (no way I want to pay $60 for an old port).
Speaking of late ports, I'm really curious as to how UT3 will do on 360. I definitely think it should do good because most of the UT fanbase (who has a console), I'd assume they own a 360 (not a PS3). But at the same time, I cannot help but think if it came out last year, it would do really well on 360, while probably not as well this year. However, releasing around a time not many games are out, may help it.
The only way late ports usually sell is if they are discounted. IMO, it should be mandatory on late ports to sell for no more than $40 (unless it includes a crapton of DLC totaling over $60 along with the game's current price on another platform).
Is AIM is behaving for people again?
wait... looks like it's slowly coming back to life...Yeah, three out of 4 of my AIM names were logged out. Eventually, all my AIM names went out. :-( Sucks because I'm addicted to AIM. It's where I do all my social conversations (yeah, call me a loser everyone). ;)
EDIT: Gwen is right, I have seen many trade their multi-platform games around, which IMO, is a waste of money (I've seen people own a version on each console twice).

MGS1 and 2, yes. MGS1 gets a little bit more respect from me because at the time nothing was comparable.
MGS3, I thought was pared down a lot more than the previous and I think they did a MUCH better job of integrating the story with the game, especially since they stopped creating a really long backstory for each boss / character. I didn't play 4 yet so I wouldn't know about that one.

I don't think TMK get's upset over it, so this isn't directed at him.
I think most people getting annoyed/pissed off over it, are just fanboys that are relieved to finally have that one big exclusive game on the PS3 that the industry is raving about. The PS3 has had plenty of very good games, but nothing exclusive of this calibur, with this type of universal praise, perfect 10 ratings etc.
The potential of losing it as an exclusive is thus threatening to them.

Space Invaders Extreme is pure win.
Hopefully I can track it down tonight, have to swing by Target and will see if they have it.
If they don't, I may swallow my pride and check the Gamestop that's right by the mall entrance to the target if it's not crazy busy......but I'm not sure I want the game enough to endure than and end my year+ "boycott" of Gamestop.
