I bought a used PSP from Gamestop, and it looks exactly what you would expect it to look like, all scratched, fingerprints, etc. If I buy a faceplate, will the scratches from the screen come off? In other words, is the screen covering part of the removable faceplate? Should I just buy another PSP? If I should buy a faceplate, where should I buy it from?

I was going to buy from http://www.nds-central.com/ or DecalGirl. Should I?

The LCD screen is entirely under the faceplate so yes once you replace the faceplate you will see no scratches.
But if you see cracks that distorts the LCD liquid then the faceplate don't matter.
Of course you are going to have to be very careful and not get any dirt, fingerprints, etc on the LCD screen or under the new faceplate when you do the swap because it can be a pain to remove them.
Its very easy to do the swap just google for a tutorial and it will make your PSP look practically new.

If you dont mind the slow shipping dealextreme.com is a nice cheap place to get it.
They have different colors too.

Thanks, you and the OP of this thread confirmed it :)

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psp&message.id=1817950&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

But it's $50 for one :O

I guess that's better than full MSRP price of a PSP.

the third party faceplates don't fit as well. so watch out. i have done this. have a can of compressed air handy, i got hair stuck underneath the faceplate twice while trying to do the conversion. also i would recommend buying one of the official sony faceplates from ebay, thats what i did.

But the Axiem ones aren't like the official ones, meaning they don't have that slick surface that's prone to fingerprints. There more like hardplastic found on spatulas or something.
