Now that my 360 isn't working and I'm feeling like playing a shooter, my friend is betting me $20 (I'd have to bet as well) that I can't beat Halo 2 in 2 days (by tomorrow at midnight).
I know, not much of a thread but it's here for for support (or refute) I guess ;)

what difficulty are you playing it on? When you say 2 days, about how many hours? If you only play an hour or two a day and play it on hard then no...It is doable though.

Normal difficulty, I could play as much as I want in a "day"

Yeah, that shouldn't be difficult to do at all. Unless you fall asleep mid-game, which is a real danger in Halo 2.

My friend and I beat it coop in a day.
It's not that long, maybe 8 hours.
You'd be better off playing the original though, since it's not as lame.

I don't remember Halo 2 being that long, 6-7 hours. Shouldn't be a problem beating it in 2 days if you really want to.

I really don't see why beating it in a day isn't an issue. It's not a long game.

Starting to play through the beginning, its dark as fuck...as of right now, that's the only thing that is getting to me (and how I haven't died yet!)

Played the original before and I agree, but the deal is on this one :oldman:

On normal difficulty? Easiest $20 you can make. Sit down, keep on playing, take a somewhat long break for lunch or dinner, get back and finish it up. Definitely not a long title.

Your friend's a bit misinformed about the game. You could RUN through it in under 6 hours on Normal.

Pfft, I beat that crap in one sitting. God, what an awful SP game.

Love the sound of that :D

Just beat the first area AND ate 2 chulupas...no worries here 8-)

Now I'm just wandering why he was so sure I couldn't beat it...there wasn't anything significantly hard or stressful?

No. Never got stuck. It's pretty boring, really.

Maybe your friend is trying to distract you with this deal while he hits on your girlfriend ;)

Simple. Even on legendary it would be doable, but on normal you can probably just run past everything. He should have specified something like only using needlers and plasma grenades (I suppose a pistol for those moments when needlers are unavailable)

we even beat halo 3 on legendary co-op in 4 hours

On Legendary this might be difficult if you don't know what you're doing, but normal? Should be easy as pie.

Is your friend trying to keep you distracted for some reason? Is your birthday coming up? Or maybe he's hitting on your girl or trying to take your stash.

After I asked him that he said "Dude, I quit after 5 minutes - I can't believe I spent $20 on that shit" (thus his reasoning for a $20 bet :whee:)
As far as distractions go, my birthday isn't anywhere close but my sisters is...and before you Nancy Drews think you figured out something, I've never heard them talk to each other once ;)
So looks like my friend gets SOL outta $40 but maybe after watching me play Halo 2, he'll start playing it aside from the beginning sucking ass, I realy enjoyed the arbitor (and part leading up to it) parts

Gameplay is fine though. Melee is still a pretty cheap kill most of the time, but that's half the fun.
Anyway, enjoy your $20.

Well, what I was wondering was if you were really struggling for money? I know I have a buddy that, a few years back, was really struggling, so by the end of a pay, he might not have enough for food. So, I would occasionally make a bet with him like this (something that didn't sound too bad on paper, but that he would definitely succeed at).
Of course, now that he's better off, he still wants me to make those bets, and I happily decline.

It may be the easiest, but not the most worthwhile way to get $20. That's $20 for at least 5 hours...

He's not trying to earn a living at this rate of pay, just earning a bet by playing a game.

or maybe its all a ploy, he scratched the disc before giving it to you, knowing that just before the credits the game will freeze and erase all of your data, rendering two days wasted and your friend comes out even. ;)

I never played it all the way thru (long story other CAGs know why), but 20 bucks for sitting on your ass and no real effort? C'mon. It beats the piss outta working 5-6 hours at minimum wage and hope you can still make that amount after taxes...

late update: Ended up getting the $20. He confessed that he didn't think I'd get it as he lowered the color contrast on my tv...explaining this post:
Starting to play through the beginning, its dark as fuck...as of right now, that's the only thing that is getting to me
I'm satisfied even though my eyes hurt and I was pretty frustrated (thought it was the game until he said it wasn't) :)
and...

Thanks and as far as story I thought I just didn't get it as I was speeding through the game...good thing it didn't make a difference (wiki will clear anything up)

You're a good man, lordxixor but we're just teenagers trying to settle a bet on a videogame (and him trying to earn his money back and jip me of mine ). I wonder if he'll bet me again though...

Turns out there was...I guess it's not nearly as bad as it could've been but at times it was insane using the flashlight for only 2 seconds and having it turn off (where's the bar from the og halo?!)

Agreed :applause:

Well, I can't agree with easiest job as I've had a job that consisted of just sitting around and checking up on stuff. You're spot on about the whole worthwhile thing though.
He's not trying to earn a living at this rate of pay, just earning a bet by playing a game.
She's right. As much as I'd like to get paid for playing games, I honestly think that would take away from the enjoyment (then again, it could just be the dark ass corridors from Halo talking :bomb:)

After speeding through it, I wouldn't recommend it (in case you were still going after it). The thing is about the minimum wage, it's at a $7 start here...so I think I'd be okay with that instead ;).
