Wireless is plenty fast to handle your internet. You might want to check how well the PS3 is connecting though, and see what NAT type you're running. Check the PS3 manual for some info on that stuff. Or Google.

i got NAT Type 2...it seems to only lag for me on Resistance and MGO but not on CoD4 or GTA4

Burnout Paradise is well worth the $20 I think. The demo isn't anywhere near as polished as the real game I don't think. It plays well and is a lot of fun. My $30 I spent on it was well worth it, I think.

yup, you just have to create a virtual PS1 memory card like you do a PS2 one.

Pretty slick. Just have to remember to assign the cards to the slots if you're jumping back and forth between PS2 games and PS1 games.

There are certain games I feel which are best to go multi-platform (Soul Calibur, Madden, licensed games, etc.), but I feel every platform deserves their own third party exclusives. Every platform is unique in some way, and it's always nice to see what a third party developer can do to specially utilize a particular platform. I prefer all platforms to have their own system defining games and keep them exclusive. Makes every console more special to me, and it keeps competition healthy (so a decent amount of people will buy each platform to get great games) IMO. Every platform I purchased, had a unique third party game that makes a console/handheld feel special to me. I'll admit I badly wanted NiGHTs and had no Wii. But since I badly wanted it, I bought a Wii, and then bought other games I wanted or had interests in (glad I did).

Completely. I play games to relax and destress--so I'm certainly not going to get so emotionally invested in games (or game companies!) to the point that I get in argument and get stressed out over it.

It's a hobby I enjoy as it helps me relax. That's a seriously as I take it.

You need a silencer on your gun to shoot people and not have others hear. Until then, just run up behind them and snap their necks.

You need to blow up the different colored walls with C4 to get through that section.

I was going to hit up AX this year with a friend to run a panel but we decided to back due to cost of traveling and a massive fourth of July party.

Hitting up Otakon instead since it's 15 minutes away, plus free admission is always a plus.

Just finished Act 2 on MGS4 and loving every minute.

I think I'm halfway through act 4 in MGS beat Crying Wolf, but the chapter keeps going and there's only one act left and more baddies to fell, so.... This game is crazy!

As for the story, I'm enjoying it so far. I missed out on 2 & 3, but I think things are coherent enough all things considered, and the only parts of the story that I find contrived is when Drebin fills out the B&B bosses backstory every time you beat 'em--it's nice to know about the characters, but the execution is a little cheesy, IMO.

I'll probably pick up again after I come back from my trip, though. Need to finish packing and stuff. I might pop in a quick PSP game or something before bed if I have time...

Doing things like defending companies or games on messageboards, I think, is too ridiculous.

But when I'm in tourney mode, I will get mad when I lose, I will invest a serious amount of time poring over strategies, watching videos, and practicing, I will obsess over it to be the best. And in that respect, I think some people need to take games MORE seriously.

Since I missed the conversation last night / this morning about ports and such. One advantage for me , regarding waiting on getting a lot of games is picking up the late ports that are often superior to the previous versions. Often , if I know a game is going to or will eventually get ported to other systems , I'll hold off on getting the game until all the versions are available (examples being Bully , Okami , Lost Planet). I'm also very picky about getting the "best" version of most multiplatform games.

As far as MGS4 being ported to the 360 goes , I'm not concerned either way. If it does get ported , I'll just read to find out whether its superior or not to the PS3 version. If it's not then I'll just get the PS3 version anyway. If the "substance" version comes to both systems (which is more what I'm interested in anyway) then I'll pick that version up for whatever system it's best on.

I really liked episodes 2-5, the 1st one was a little hard to get into. Either way, it's enjoyable in both forms.

I put a few more hours in Persona 3. I'll be playing the game and keep telling myself "Ok, I'll put it down after 1 more day" then a week later, I'll be like "Ok, I'll put it down after one more trip to Tarterus." Then a week later...etc.

But I did finally put it down and pulled out some more GTA 4. I don't know, but I just can't really get into it so much. It's fun, and I like it, but alot of times I'm not sure just what the heck I'm supposed to be doing, especially when no one is calling me for missions and stuff. Oh well.

I just wanted to post I might be going to a funeral early next week. I don't really know the relative well, but it was the husband of one of my Mom's cousins. I kind of feel I should go since I've stayed away from relatives for over 10 years. Karsh: Same thing happened to me man, I was good up to when Sunny asked about Snake. Then once Otacon started talking about it tears were running down my face. It was such a very sad scene, you just couldn't help it.

Anyway, I got the Assassin's Emblem last night in MGS4, getting ready to go for the BB emblem on BB Extreme which the requirements for that are:
Beat the game on the highest difficulty with no deaths, no alerts, no kills, no recovery items, no stealth suit, no bandanna items, in under 5 hours. I can do it..... me thinks....

Most people would say DS since it has WiFi multiplayer. But if you don't care about that, it probably doesn't matter much which you get.

It is kind of like a $10 XBLA game, but I can swallow paying $20 since it's a physical game rather than download.

Plus I'll actually play it, I just can't get motivated to play XBLA games. I'd rather play a regular 360 game if I'm going to fire it up. As much as I like Pacman CE, I've barely touched it. Would love to see the DS get a version of that, as I'll play games like that all the time on my DS as they're great to fire up for a bit before going to sleep etc.

I don't really see how. The only thing the PSP version has is slightly better graphics, and this isn't a graphics pushing game by any stretch of the imagination. Sound's probably a bit better, and the wider screen may give more side to side movement I guess.

The DS version adds:

-dual screen gameplay--bonus rounds, two screen boss battles etc
-Online multiplayer (local only on PSP)
-Online Leaderboards
-Ability to use the paddle controller if you want to import it
-Rumble support for those with a rumble pack

I'm sure the PSP version is fine, but seems like the DS version is the way to go if you have both portables IMO. Guess if you don't care at all about online play, then maybe PSP--but I think the two screen stuff adds a lot to the game...

As for lacking online play, it really varies. It's not like there's a PSP Online network or anything (It's up to a develop to provide online, just like PS2, which is why it's mostly Sony's own stuff that has online). Some games that have online play on PSP, work really well (no friend codes, a crapton of options (looks at Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, which has some of the best online ever seen). And why would a developer invest in online play on PSP when there isn't many users to begin with?? Doesn't make a difference to me anyway since I cannot get my DS online with my router. :-( I dunno, I brought it up because my friend sent me an IM looking for good DS games. I mentioned Space Invaders since I heard some like it, but he told me it was better on PSP or something, that's all I'm quoting (this isn't me saying it because I could careless, I rather get FFT A2 for my DS right now).

I'll admit, I do hate touch screen controls for anything not Elite Beat Agents. I just got TWEWY, and so far I'm not liking touch screen controls. I prefer to keep them off for games. I still need to play it more, since I only played it for just under an hour.

Still, I don't really care since I've never been a fan of Space Invaders (most of the classic stuff I play is Pac-Man).

I need to open Secret Agent Clank, but will not get to it until I go on vacation.

They worked ok, just not as responsive as normal controls IMO, and the game seemed dumbed down (especially combat) from recent zelda games (or even the 2D games really) to fit the control scheme.

The lack of dungeons, decent puzzles, having to go through the damn Ocean King temple 5 times, etc. were much bigger flaws with the game. Easily my least favorite main series zelda game.

So GGT, I have a question to ask you all. What game so far this year has been your biggest surprise? Meaning, it could be a game you somewhat wanted (or not at all), but ended up liking much more than expected.

MGS4, Mario Kart Wii (although that's my biggest surprise outside of another game, which turned out way better than I thought), Lost Odyssey, Crisis Core: FFVII, and Hot Shots Golf: OoB may be my five favorites overall (TWEWY may make it in here).

I would say SingStar surprised me the most. I kind of passed up on SingStar on PS2 all this time because I felt it was best just to wait for it on PS3. Although I was wanting it, I never thought it would be really big to me. I was very wrong. My most played game towards the end of May, and most of June, has been SingStar. I constantly see myself wanting to play that more than any other game when I want to game for a short period of time.

Since I'm the type of person who loves social networking (I'm love Facebook a lot), I've grown to really like the Sing Star community watching videos and so on (like updating my profile and uploading videos). I enjoy the SingStar store (when it decides not to freeze, but most of that happened when I first got it) where I can preview a song before buying (I know it has been done in Rock Band, but I like seeing a short music video of many songs I know well and love). And without a doubt, I just love singing in the game.

One thing I liked about DDR was music videos in some songs, but all the songs have it (HUGE plus for me). I've been having a much easier time singing through the song when compared to Karaoke Revolution games due to the way the text shows up (instead of scrolling across the screen which I struggled to follow, but I still like KR also). I'm also glad all the music is given to me, so I don't have to unlock it (I just want to play music games for fun. I kind of hate I have to play some boring mode in DDR to unlock songs, playing songs I do not care for). Overall, I've just been enjoying singing to music I love, along with finding many more new music I like.

Only problem I have is some of my favorite songs from the PS2 SingStar's aren't in the store yet (making me want to buy SingStar 90's for an example to sing "Ice Ice Baby", "Step By Step", "Baby Got PacK", "Zombie", etc. and I still wish the U.S. had the song "Heaven Is A place On Earth" in the store. There's no denying overall, SingStar has become my new DDR. I will probably go back and buy every single SingStar and even buy Volume 2 later this year on PS3 (although I may not technically need it).

to be honest, I have yet to come across any surprises. If there have been any surprises gaming related I would have to say how I was totally sideswiped by how good independent designed games are. I'm slowly becoming more and more interested in indy gaming and getting more and more tired of major releases and big budget gaming.

About 50% of my gaming on my home consoles are DLC games like Wii VC, XBLA, and PSN stuff. The rest of that 50% is like 1 or 2 huge name releases like MGS4 and/or an art based game like No More Heroes.

I'm not dissing anything, I just am getting tired of some aspects in commercial gaming. I'm looking forward to E3 this year since it will hopefully rekindle what I like about console gaming, which I cannot define at his moment.

A big recent surprise for me was Persona 3: FES. I am surprised how much I am liking this RPG. I only started playing it a couple days ago, and I'm already 20 hours into it. I have a touch of ADD, so I usually only play about an hour or two of any game before I get restless, but there's so much going on in P3 that I just keep going.

Anyway, I tried out the Rachet & Clank FToD demo and enjoyed that today.

I'll admit I was VERY unsure about paying $54 for it after tax, but due to friends trying to get me to buy it, I bit the bullet and did. Good thing I did. Some of Crisis Core's missions are kicking my ass :/

I need the super ribbon badly, but the road getting to it is a continual road of trial and error.

I'll take 20000+ damage in less than 10 seconds, or if I'm lucky, get hit with Stop and take 20 seconds to die.

I'm not patient enough to go power leveling my materia and buff up my stats.

P.S. - Flare and Ultima suck ass compared to Costly Punch and I should have started this game on Hard; Normal is too damn easy.

Yeah, I think there are 2 boob jokes in the first 2 volumes, but I guarantee you she won't understand one of them. The other is in the first volume and involves Tomo and Miss Sakaki. It's blunt, but I'm sure it would fly over her head anyway.

Somehow the "den" has become the money hole of our new place where as my wife's working with a shoe-string budget for the real parts of the house.

Bascially, all the HT stuff I have right now, I've had since early college or late high school, save for the TV. The Klipsch PC speakers and the Sony HTIAB setups are being sold and/or given away and investing some money into downstairs. Gonna be sweet. About the only thing I've got left to decide is if I'm going to run some ethernet around the edges of the room, or shell out some cash for 1 or 2 wireless bridges for the PS3 and 360.

And get a DualShock. It's just a better controller than the siaxis hollow piece of crap.

Yeah I hate the SIXAXIS. I'm hoping before Google Checkout runs out before the 30th that the DS3 drops down to $45 (or $35 after GCO) again.

Just watched the 1UP Show and that game Legendary looks really, really good. As long as it has decent length, it's as polished as the producer is hyping it up to be, and the gameplay is as solid as the 1UP crew claims. I might even buy it day one if there are pre-release reviews that don't point anything drastically terrible to support smaller developers. Apparently the developers of it have been through 4 publishers before Gamecock took them on.

I sold a bunch of shit and bought MGS4 LE, the CE guide, Ninja Gaiden II, and $30 down on the SoulCalibur IV PS3 CE. It was worth selling a bunch of crap games for. MGS4 = GOTY, NG2 is somewhat of a disappointment. I may be in the minority, but so far, I prefer the original. Although I'm only on the chapter 5 boss, so time will tell.

I haven't played anything new. It's a bit hard to play H-games when your PC is in the living room. The last game I played was Bazooka Cafe, which was alright I guess. But if you dislike large chests(And they are large even for anime characters) you won't like the game at all. The next game on deck is Do you like Horny Bunnies 2...

Also, I read that they are making another Bible Black game...I'm not really sure if I should be excited about that or hide in a corner.

The Bunny games are pretty tame compare to other h-games. But after playing something like Bible Black.... tame is very welcome

Obsession is a good H-game. Though it gets a bit dark. I played the first Do You Like Horny Bunnies?, but not the second one. Oh, and for a hilarious time check out Phoenix Drive. It's a H-game based on Phoenix Wright, and the Engrish in it is so bad it's great. A line from the game:

Played some more Crackdown tonight. The second gang is certainly harder than the 1st was! Took down 2 of their generals so far, but took a few tries on each.

Game is getting pretty repetitive though, not much difference from general to general, and the rooftop races and car races are an annoying exercise in trial and error.

But it's still just a blast to explore the city leaping around all over the place.
