Okay, my brother is almost 12, and isn't really a gamer. He's a jock, and not the brightest person in the house (well, they're all about equal, but still).
Anyways, he watched me play Laughing Octopus and thought the fight was awesome. He saw me find her in the painting, in the box, the second anatomy body, the fake dead FROG, etc. A full fight.
He decided he wanted to play the game. So after picking up controls and learning the basics, he somehow on Liquid Easy found his way to Laughing Octopus (skipping every single cutscene by the way). Anyways, this is a rundown of the conversation that ensued as he was playing.
Him: Um, James, my gun isn't working.
Me: You don't have any bullets.
Him: Yes I do, I have 102.
Me: No, that's the name of your gun. Buy bullets from Drebin.
Him: How do I do that?
Me: Press Start and go to Drebin's shop.
Him: Okay.
Me: Go to bullets and buy bullets for your gun.
Him: Which bullets are those?
Me: At the bottom right it says which gun those bullets are for.
Him: Oh, okay.
(2 minutes later)
Him: I can't find the bullets.
Me: You're under items. Go right.
Him: Oh, okay.
(2 minutes later)
Him: Is it these bullets?
Me: No, those are for your tranq gun.
Him: Oh. Well I don't know which bullets.
Me: The ones that say AK102 on the bottom right. Buy those.
Him: Oh, okay.
(Two minutes later)
Him: They're all for a gun I don't have.
Me: Which gun?
Him: D-P-3-2-4-2-6.
Me: Those are your Drebin Points- that's the money that you have to buy bullets.
Him: Oh, well then which bullets.
(I take the controller and buy the bullets for him.)
Me: There, you have bullets.
Him: K, thanks.
(The fight starts. Ten minutes later.)
Him: James, I can't find her.
Me: Listen to her laugh.
Him: It's coming from everywhere.
Me: When it gets really loud then you're close to her.
Him: But I can't see her.
(I switch on NV for him).
Me: Here, try to see her now.
Him: There she is!
(Standing right next to him against the wall. Two minutes later.)
Him: She shot my eye.
Me: What?
Him: After she shot me the night vision stopped working.
Me: You ran out of batteries.
Him: Oh, okay.
(Two minutes later.)
Him: I still can't find her after she does that black thing.
Me: Okay, here. See this circle around Snake. Wherever it's red, that's the direction the enemy is in.
Him: Oh, okay.
(Two minutes later).
Him: James, I still can't find her.
(There's a dead FROG body on the floor.)
Me: Was that dead body there before?
Him: No...
Me: Then why would it appear out of nowhere.
Him: Oh!
(He shoots her. Then he dies and starts over. Several more minutes later...)
Him: James, I know that's her, but what is that thing.
(The fake Mk 2 is at the end of the hall).
Me: It's Mk 2- if you watched the cutscenes you'd know that.
Him: Oh...
(Five minutes later)
Him: I can't find her again.
Me: You're standing on top of her.
Him: What the hell!
(He shoots the dead FROG again. Eventually he gets to the Beauty part.)
Him: James I can't shoot her.
Me: Fine.
(I beat her for him.)
Him: Thanks.
(Several, several minutes later... after he tracks down Naomi. He actually watches the cutscene.)
Him: Hey James.
Me: Yeah.
Him: Who's that black guy?
