It doesn't even matter whats at these places. This is one of the most brilliant marketing campaigns for a video game ever. Not even Sony's hype machine has done anything like this. Whoever came up with this idea is getting a huge promotion, and anyone that was against it is being banished to the Eastern Front (Japan).

Simply brilliant. As if Halo 2 needed more hype. If Sega could have marketed half as good as this, they'd still be in the console business.

It remains to be seen. It would be an ill-advised advertising stunt to draw crowds to retail locations for no reason. Liability issues alone would raise caution of the chances of placing irate people at those stores to display all sorts of irrational reactions to their disappointment.

It would be one thing if it just drew a lot of traffic to a web site at a designated time but getting people involved at private property locations would make a lawyer have conniptions.

Having essentially grown up with Bungie due to being a Mac user (and thus Bungie being one of perhaps 7-10 primary software developers for the Mac), the ilovebees.com website positively reeks of them. I only wish I could remember how they promoted Marathon.

Your computer clock should probably be set to PST, according to the list of locations and times, etc. That is likely why some clocks have expired - need to reset your clock for PST. By that theory, there's under 15 minutes left.

PC clocks aren't terribly accurate. Most are a minute or more of within a week of being set. Have you examined a known accurate source like the info on your local cable operator or calling the time number.

Babbage invented (but never got to build) the first true programmable computer. It was all mechanical. Since the writer is assumed to be an AI from the Halo universe that has taken over the ilovebees.com server as a sort of life support while it repairs itself, calling the server a Babbage machine is imilar to insulting someone's old car by calling it a Model T.

My impression is that the AI was greatly reduced by this. By taking over systems (axons in biological brains) at the coordinates given it has been able to restore more of its normal level of functioning. Ergo the reference to being 'somewhat awake.' Just like some humans need their coffee in the morning this AI needs at least a TFLOP to feel remotely like a conscious being rather than something that goes through life on autopilot such as an insect.

In that case, what would 7:47 PDT translate to in Central time? That is the closest location for me, and I'll so be there to pick up that phone.

You will listen to a women (who mentioned herself as Melissa - in Greek means Honey) talking. Then she will ask you who I am (tell her -you are Melissa) and the password (Jersey, dizzy, blip etc depends on your location).

Melissa seems to have informed the sysop that she's has killed two incoming attacks against his systems but when asked admits she isn't sure of her own motivations. The amnesia is still making her a mystery to herself.

So as she seeks out systems to supplement her capacity so she can unscramble her memory there appears to be a competitor who also wants those systems, either for itself or just to keep them from her.

Also, just because a group is active doesn't mean you shouldn't take take a call from a coordinate that isn't hot. We only need 2 in each group, but it'd be interesting to see what happens if all 210 become active.

Has anyone else gotten different webcam pics on the error pages? I've seen two besides the blurry one, which seems to occur most often (and had text written into it). I've already tried finding text in the two I've seen since. So far, nothing out of the ordinary. I'll try to get them posted in case anyone wants to take a look at them as well, though I just tried and for whatever reason I couldn't.
