damn, paid $50 for SSBB at launch, but when u've been playin since n64 days, who wouldn't? Finally a cheaper way to get Super Mario Galaxy without waiting 2 more years (if that really is the game going on sale based on that clue). There's also Zelda TP I'm interested in, but I believe I'm only going to hop on one deal. From those who have played both, which should I buy?

Btw, I haven't played that much of ocarina of time, but i've watched friends play it for hours and it didn't seem THAT fun going to each dungeon and figuring out puzzles. It seems like Twilight is more of the same except bigger and a little better. Super Mario 64 I enjoyed, but felt that Banjo Kazooie and DK 64 were a lot better for sure. SP64 I also believe was too overrated.

I placed my order on the 25th to get the $10 GC and just got off the phone with customer service to get the $14 refund. Very nice.:applause:

Word. I have email confirmation that they'll refund $14, will watch my credit card statement.
Best deal ever if it works, $16 brand fu*kin new! I had the game rented out for 5 weeks before I returned it, had to make the purchase.

I got Galaxy used from SecondSpin for...I think $35 shipped, maybe $32? I thought that was a deal back then. Hopefully I made the right choice. The game has crazy replay value, I can't put it down.

Completely off topic...is Rock Band Wii any good? I played it for the first time a few weeks ago on 360. Barely any of the songs were appealing to me...at least, not as appearling as GH3.

Anyone NOT have a Wii and still purchasing some of these games? I feel like it is a waste of money to buy games for a system I don't own and yet if games like SSBB and Super Mario Galaxy are going to be around the $25 mark, I can't decide if I should bite or not. Nintendo published games take a long time to drop and since the Wii is selling so hot, I can't see them coming out with a Player's Choice anytime soon. The GBA took like 5 years to get a PC line and the DS has been out 4 years and STILL doesn't have a PC line because the demand is so high.

Yes, I am in the exact same mindset as you.

I don't want a Wii at all but my wife was going to get one of those $50 GameCubes at Walmart for her nieces but I said we might as well give them ours and just buy a Wii (I want RE Chronicles and I think my wife would enjoy that system and now she asked why I didn't buy one when I saw it as the store). So now I am thinking maybe I should get these games in case we do get a Wii. I hated Smash Bros on the GC so not sure about Brawl but my wife may like it :bomb: She liked playing Galaxy at Best Buy when we were there.

SMG is amazing for anyone who might be on the fence. Forget Sunshine and remember the awe you felt when you first moved Mario around in 64. I felt the same sense of wonder playing the Good Egg Galaxy's first level. The music, the graphics...*goes to change underwear*

Metroid Prime is probably the most infamous lightning deal for gaming. I got one, but it was 100% gone within a minute tops. Radiant Dawn was almost as bad too.

35 is a little steep for the lightning deal, but for this game, I don't think we'll see it below 30 for a while in terms of wide release, and this is probably the best deal since the giftcard at TRU.

Lol. Yeah, these lightning deals are going SLOW compared to the day MP3, Radiant Dawn, etc. were offered.

I pulled a real slick one out that day; I missed out on getting Radiant Dawn in my cart, so I emailed customer service and got it for $30 despite it later on that night.

I'd get Super Mario Galaxy over Twilight Princess. Unless you'll be using a different controller than the wiimote, you might get a tad frustrated with the controls on Twilight Princess. So far the only part of the game I like was when Link transformed into a wolf because it's easy to control. Galaxy is a lot more fun although not too terribly difficult with the exception of a few levels (and collecting the purple coins on luigi).

Bottom line: If you liked Super Mario 64, you should like Galaxy. If you didn't care for Ocarina of Time, you probably won't care for Twilight Princess.

I bit on the super mario galaxy and i think that's fine considering it was one of the best games of 2007 and will stay $50 forever. I still haven't beaten Re4, but w/e.

One question:

For those who have played both excessively, which do you prefer? Okami or Zelda:TP?

Okami is going to have hit the $20 in the next year and Zelda:TP will never go down.

I couldn't resist on Galaxy. I vae already beat it once with Mario and sold it, but for $35 I plan to play through again as Luigi. Plus, you can still sell this used on eBay for $30-35, so in the end I'll lose a few dollars tops off this purchase. Or who know, maybe I'll just keep it forever this time. It's one of those games that leaves you wanting to play just a little bit more.

Man, Smash Bros. was in my Gold Box yesterday, and the $10 gift card offer was still active... had I bit then, I could have price adjusted for today and paid a grand total of $13.99.

Yeah, I got this deal after I e-mailed Amazon for a price adjustment (and was really surprised I received 40-26=14 credit when I had already applied the 5% gold discount previously) -- so $24 total out of pocket with $10 gift card -- maybe a mistake on their part...

Well, Super Mario Galaxy is gone.

I saw someone play it before, and looked kinda lame. The wiimote is used as an afterthought, much like Twilight Princess. I never played Super Mario 64 or any of that SNES Mario stuff, so I don't have any nostalgic hype for Mario crap. NES Marios only. Anyway, I'd have probably bitten if it were $19.99 or so, but it was 2X my pricepoint.

As for Zelda Phantom Hourglass -- graphics look childish, and I demoed it at Target... sucked. I have at least 60 DS games, mostly bought during TRU 2:1 sales, but I've held off on Zelda. I've only played the NES Zeldas, and they've been looking like uber childish crap lately. My pricepoint on that was about $14.99.

I'll probably only get SSBM afterall.

I finished Okami on the PS2, and I'm about 70-75% done with TP on the Wii. IMO, there's no contest - Okami is a much, much better game. I plan on playing Okami again at some point - I'll be happy if I can finish TP just once.

Made me laugh. I was playing on a trip to Hawaii and then it came to a "yell into the mic" part and that's the last I've played. I can't see myself yelling into a DS while on a plane full of people "Yes! I want a low price on the salvage crane!". Other than that, I like the game though.

Well, I jumped on SSBB, might take a look at TP later, depending on the price. I really didn't want to buy a new game right now, especially a $25 with my backlog, but you never know what you'll be able to find the game for later. Sure, it might end up being a $10 in the future. But, it might go down to $20, then rocket back up. Damn Nintendo titles.

I'll want it at some point, so I'll bite the bullet and buy it now.

Annoying on return trips, Maybe. Tedious, far from it. It's extremely easy (gets easier as you gain more items) and you can also get 00:00 used to the warp point with a little thought.

You'll be waiting 8 - 10 years for a $20 Nintendo 1st party Wii game. Thought everybody knew that Nintendo 1st party games are notorious for rarely going down in MSRP price, unless it's a temporary sale. Expecting a $20 nintendo game is like waiting for a $200 PS3 price, with the probability of both happening is less than 1%

No matter how selfish or irrational it sounds. I agree that CheapyD should have a monopoly on all video game deals on the internet.

Edit: Melee was 30 bucks MSRP for the entire lifespan of the Gamecube and more. It probably outsold all the other million seller games but never joined Nintendo's million seller line. I would take the deal if I didn't already have access to the game.

Don't get me wrong - you are more than welcome to hate Mario, Zelda, and any other characters of your choice, but at LEAST make cohesive, intelligent, adult critiques...

Maybe that's just me.
I've nothing against Mario or Zelda. They were great games. Yet you should decide to insult me because of my negative opinion on a couple deals. If that's the kind of gamer who's buying all these post-NES franchise games I've ignored over the years, it furthers the argument that my low pricepoints were too high.

FYI the Gamecube version of Zelda:TP was $19.99 a while back, and seemed like the superior version. Ordered SSBB by itself.

for those who ordered before to get the $10 GC...someone here posted earlier that amazon is well aware of the $10 GC and so you can only expect to get back $4. i called using the online form thing and when asked i just said i wanted a price match on brawl which i bought on june 10th and the guy looked it up and said there's a $14 price difference and said he'd refund the $14. so then it came out to be $39.99 - $10 GC - $14 PM = $15.99 shipped. im happy :)

FYI the Gamecube version of Zelda:TP was $19.99 a while back, and seemed like the superior version.

The gamecube version can be played with a controller (a big plus ifor some) but the Wii version supports 16:9 and progressive scan. If you have an HDTV and are a graphic wh0re like me, then the Wii is the better version.

Other than that the only difference is that the Wii version is mirrored. Things on the left in the gamecube appear on your right on the Wii. The flipped the whole game to make Link right handed.

so it seems like goldbox ds games wont drop below $20 today, i want to get NSMB and mario kart ds and was going to get yoshi's island, but opted not to, because i was thinking i can just go to toys r us and get those two and a yoshi's island for free, or some other game that i'd rather own....

...so, im not sure the ds goldbox deals are as good as TRU's B2G1, at least in my case...

I'm kinda thinking the same thing...How often does TRU do the B2G1 sale? (I know one is going on right now)

It took a few years for it to drop to 29.99 and its still at the price point if you can find it.

Melee sold somewhere near 8 million copies.

Hmm..I'm still debating on getting Mario Kart DS for 22.99. Seems like a bargain, but at the same time, it's been out for awhile and should've been $20 by now, yeah I know it's a Nintendo title, but it's a DS title. I have a question for CAGers..to play multi-players Mario Kart DS, does the other DS need the cart too?? Well, when you claim it, rather than going to show your cart, Press "proceed to checkout." If it doesn't show there, than it's a glitch in the system, affecting you. Why don't you print screen your problem and send the link to the Amazon CS team via e-mail or phone. Tell them that you've bought alot of games in the past and you were a loyal customer and now since this glitch has occured, you lost faith in Amazon's reliability and website quality. Amazon CS usually bends over for people via e-mail. I just got refunded for Yoshi's Island that I bought 1 month ago, and they told me although the deal is no longer offered, they'd honour the discount now.

This always happens when they have Lightning Deals that are super popular. What you do is go to the product's page and add to the cart from the product page (not the deal page). What you have done is reserved a ticket that allows your account to buy this game at the sale price until the end of the deal. No one can take the ticket from you once it has been claimed.

I already have all of these games except for Mario Party. And I got them for about the same price or cheaper, mostly at release. I just wish Mario Party were for the Wii. But I don't see a game that anyone shouldn't jump on (except Mario Party. I haven't played that one.). And I too got a price adjust for SSBB earlier today, which I bought about 2 weeks ago. :))))

Hmm... I'd put that part at maybe 1/3rd in. You still have a good ways to go. Now me, I made it to 80%, and couldn't take all the hyperrealistic giant spiders anymore and quit. Part of me wants to buy and finish the game, but I'd have to start from the beginning again, and I know damn well the Arbiter's Grounds boss is going to fucking ruin it again.

I couldn't do that, either, because the "Add to cart" button on the product page (with the normal price listed) is replaced with a "View Gold Box offer" button, which takes me to the page that says I've claimed it and doesn't have an "Add to cart" button. Fortunately, the product page has it listed as part of a combo deal. So, I added that deal, and deleted the DS Lite. It was a really really great game, but it's seldom that I pick up a game and replay it. I could always go online to download a save file from some website or another and just get the save file around the point where I quit playing, but I think I would lose a lot of the experience that way. Probably best just to rebuy it and play again. It'll be a faster experience anyway, on the second "playthrough", as I'll know how to do things I struggled with before.

Yes it does, but like all DS multiplayer games, I'm sure they offer you more to do with people who actually have the game.

Like in Mario Kart DS, I know the people who didn't have the game could only be a Shy Guy. I think even the course selection was limited too.

Even IF there's not many differences in between single card and multi-card download.. $25 for 2 games is not bad.

Actually this is one of those rare cases where two players get the exact same experience off 1 cart download play as they do off of 2 cart multiplayer. Of course you'll save some time not having to download one copy to another every time you want to play but that's about it.

No shit?! I'm canceling my order and keeping my $5 order ^_^
..I'll actually be playing with my BF and brother. 3 player single card = full experience ?!

Yeah, I really expected them to limit it as well but its not at all. My ex-girlfriend owned it and we played it all the time together and aside from the couple minutes it took for the download everything was available for single card download play.

Is that a good price even?

Yes! <3 Pokemon.
I don't know why it's just Diamond. But whatever

It is. Pokemon games usually don't go on sale for a long time unless they're spin-offs nobody wanted in the first place. Hell, I think the last 2 generations still cost this much.

Bit on Pokemon. I've been wanting to pick a DS back up lately, and Pokemon was actually one of the main games I wanted.

It's a great price. I remember buying a copy off a CC sale not too long ago (but @ $25).

You probably won't see a Pokemon game go below $23. And I mean 5 years from now, the games will still cost $35.

So if you're interested, now's a good a time as any to bite... ;)

Radioshack B&M have had Diamond/Pearl at 19.97 for months now, after tax, it's comparable.

Decided to bite on the Mario Party I had left in my cart...after reading IGN's review and seeing that only one cart is needed for the full multi experience, I figure my girlfriend and I should get $20 of play out of it.

Did anyone score a PM on SSB after buying at 39.99 and getting the 10$ gift cert? I managed to get it, so basically got SSB for 16.99

wow...except for Mario Party DS, I had every one of those games already (well not technically, I have TP on Gamecube and Pearl instead of Diamond, but whatever). Brawl for $26 though, what a friggin steal. Too bad I just bought Super Mario Galaxy last Sunday for $45 used at Gamestop :(

I got Pokemon Diamond. I have Pearl, don't have a second DS, but whatever. It'll still help in some way. I don't know how though, but it will. I might sell my PSP sooner or later because there's nothing coming out for it until Kingdom Hearts, and I mean NOTHING.

Whoever has a Wii, sees this deal, doesn't have Brawl and doesn't get it, seriously?

if you return galaxy you can order it online, cag16+saver+edge gets 26% off that.

Even I couldn't resist. I played Brawl once and hated it, but at that price (which points2shop paid for me anyway) I figured at the very least I could resell it for near "cost" and still make a profit, or maybe actually figure out what the hell was going on and start to enjoy it.

I resisted. Maybe for $15...

I rented the first two and wasn't impressed. Played through them, and they were "okay", but nothing special (to me I mean-I don't mean to knock them!), and given how many games I really WANT to play $26 is a rip off for me. For anyone that likes those games, it's a no brainer though!

I didn't end up getting anything from the sale at all. I had just spent almost $200 at Toy's R Us, AND picked up a Playstation 3, and I just couldn't justify buying games I wasn't sure I wanted.

For those that bought Galaxy...the regular price has dropped $5 to $44.99. If you e-mail or call customer service they may credit the difference. I'm still waiting on a response.

VioletArrows

Wait, what? Galaxy was $34 during the sale. What are you trying to get the difference on?

maiku

In some cases Amazon will price match against the regular price and consider the discount a sort of coupon. For example, a while back I bought GH3 Wii for $65 ($90-$25). A few days later it dropped from $90 to $75. Amazon credited back $15 which brought the final price to $50 ($75-$25).

I can't guarantee it'll work this time, but similar things have worked in the past.

Not sure what you mean, but the price match is only good for 30 days.

I usually create a shopping list and add a bunch of past and potential future buys. Check it every day or so and e-mail them if the price drops. Sometimes prices drop for an hour or so and go back. They'll still honor the match if the e-mail is sent at the right time.
