That sounds about right, particularly Mario and Sonic at the Olympics. I'd bet it's almost guaranteed we'll see one of the two versions of that game included in the sale.

If history holds, the only new games we'll be seeing are ones that aren't already ultra-successful. Brawl wouldn't surprise me because they've already been running sales on it bundling it with a giftcard, but I don't think there's a chance in hell of seeing Mario Kart Wii.

And lest we forget, Nintendo publishes a LOT of games. As much as I'd like to see Pokémon Trozei, I know most of you would storm Amazon's offices with burning torches if that shows up. I can only imagine the reaction Metroid Pinball would get.

And if anyone's still unclear on "Nintendo icons:" take the cast of Brawl, and remove Snake and Sonic. Those are your choices. I'm with lilboo - from the wording, it makes it sound like it's going to be first-party titles only, and there are plenty of them between the Wii and DS where they can afford to put a few of the older ones on sale.

Since I just got my DS (six months ago) and my Wii (four months), pretty much anything is fine by me. If there's a sale for just one of the recent Mario platformers - wasn't Super Paper Mario included in Gold Box deals before? - it'll be a good day for me.

Amazon is $20, I think. Toy's R Us had some locally for around that, although I think mine sold out. You don't need them though, it supports the classic controllers, which I prefer personally (and they cost $20 too...although you do need Wii controllers to plug them in to in addition to that and you're stuck using wireless).

Just sold my copy. Starts out fairly fun, but (like quite a few recent 2D platformers) gets WAY too frustrating by the end for me. IMO New Super Mario Bros. is a *MUCH* better game in about every way.

If you want those games it's probably not a terrible idea to buy them now. It's unknown when or if they'll drop. I can vouch for Super Mario Galaxy at least. I'm not much of a fan of the first two 3D Mario games, but Galaxy I thought was worthy of the name...actually felt like a Super Mario Bros. game (tight control, amazingly non-invasive camera, lots of power ups and interesting environments, etc.) I still prefer the later Super Mario Bros. games (including new), but Galaxy is pretty much the only reason I still have a Wii.
It's the ONLY Wii game that actually looks visually impressive IMO (I don't think most live up to the best Gamecube or even PS2 games, but SMG really pushes the hardware in that way too).

EDIT: *SIGH* I didn't like Twilight Princess all that much when I rented it (Wind Waker was the last Zelda I enjoyed), but if it's cheap enough, I'll probably still bite...just because the Zelda name carries so much nostalgia for me. Might bite on Pokemon too, although I haven't played one since the original (and got totally burnt out on it trying to level up all my Pokemon-dumped over 128 hours into it).

They wouldn't let me do it last month for The World Ends With You.Maybe it just depends on which employee you talk to, some of them will bend the rules. Persona 3: FES showed up in my Gold Box a few days after I'd bought it. I requested a $1.50 refund, thinking that I wouldn't get it, but no harm in asking. They gave it to me.

the wii fire emblem was quite good. The problem is the 1st chapter puts you in command of weaker (and boring) units. So they are more likely to die. But you can save and reload at any point, and starting wit the second chapter, the game gets good.
Anyone who beat the cube version won't find it too difficult. A person new to the series might have trouble with the early levels, but overall, the game is not difficult.

Also, that brawl deal is crazy, I am sure if mario kart wii was in enough supply they would also have had a great deal on it.

Cool, well that doesn't sound too bad. Wish I still had my save file from the 'Cube one! I thought the writing was really good in that, and the gameplay was what I want-fun, not overly complex, not super hard classic strategy/RPG. Oh well, moot point since it's not one of the games.

Despite the fact that I have no interest in Smash Bros, it's so hard to pass on a deal like this. I ended up redeeming some Points2Shop points for it at this price and if they get to the ticket today then great, if not I won't be sad I didn't get the game.

I don't think anyone's pointed it out yet, but Smash Bros currently trades for $30 at EB/GS (and probably Blockbuster/Gamerush), so at this price if you haven't tried it you can get it, play it and trade it for free or with a slight profit.
