Haha, good OTT title:
That is nothing. I have a friend of mine who is 19. He doesn't have a car or a license/permit. He still lives at home and has to pay rent.
Also, up until like last week, his parents wouldn't let him watch any PG-13 rated movies. Also, he is only allowed to go out and do stuff with friends once a week.
That is sad right there.I'm glad my parents won't let me pay rent. Let's just say my Dad doesn't want me using the stove/oven because he thinks I'll burn myself and I'm too young to cook for myself. However, I usually use it when he's not home.

It's kind of moot at this point, but here's the cover letter I sent last night. This one doesn't have the small fuckup that the other had, but whatever, you get the idea.
Hello, my name is Michael BauXXXXX and I’m interested in the Marketing Specialist/Web Administrator position at XXXX. I have a bachelor's degree in journalism from New Paltz University and have a little over three years of combined experience in print journalism and public relations. I feel as though I’d be the perfect fit for the position because, along with my experience in PR and journalism, I’m also versed in basic web development, as many of my previous jobs required me to work on their website. To add to that, I also took some introductory classes in college and with that training, I know I can handle the responsibilities the position requires to help XXXXXX achieve its goals. I hope that you will consider me for an interview so that we could discuss this further.
P.S. I would like to restate my desire to interview for the position of Marketing Specialist/Web Administrator. XXXXX is No. 1 on my list of companies I want to work for. I am available immediately and can be reached on my mobile phone at 315-XXX-XXXX. Thank you!

If my mom gets back on her feet and gets rid of all the debt shes in, I'll move out, but shes in a hole pretty deep since she didn't have insurance a while back and she pretty much lost everything when she got really, really sick. She still has her days and crap where she'll miss one or two days of work and spend a couple of times at the doctor, but its not so bad now since shes not paying 100-200 bucks every time she goes. in any case, you can't get down on yourself - lack of self-confidence is a killer - if you dont' think you can get the job, you won't.

seriously man, you're in your mid twenties and aren't allowed to use a stove, that is fucked up.
all geek and nerd jokes aside - you're missing out on a lot of autonomy, and with that comes new experiences like... not playing video games and learning new things and meeting new people.
it's not to have a house party, but you can't even ask a girl over to watch a movie - now how you gonna get play or learn to not prematurely ejaculate if you can't even have a girl over to watch a movie?

Main reason is I honestly don't know which portion of electronics I want to seek a job in, because I like analog electronics, audio, microcontrollers, Digital Systems, PCB design, RF, etc. It's not like I'm saying, to seek a job in microcontrollers.
I wouldn't post my resume here since that would give away my address/phone number, and I wouldn't want someone to report me (like when terribledeli and Sean wanted to report me if they knew my address, for what I said at CAG a few times).
I'll admit, my room use to be way worse when I was 15 years old and younger. Here's some old pictures I scanned:

or the job market could be super saturated in your field or in your area - are you prepared to uproot and move anywhere for a job?
like i said, if you want to get a job near where you live and it's tough - try to intern or go direct to the offices and ask in person for an interview - that's the clearest way to signal that you're serious about getting the job.

I'm prepared, but my girlfriend of 4+ years isn't.
At this point, I don't really care what job I get, I just want to get paid more than i'm getting paid now. I took the job knowing the pay was lousy because I thought it would lead to other things. It has been almost a year now since I took it and nothing has come of it, except maybe an ulcer and high blood pressure.
I thought about the intern route, but every place that offers interning only opens it to college seniors.

ah, you didn't mention the GF of 4+ years.
yeah, then that is rough mang. when it comes down to it, you'll have to figure that out with her - because some job fields are going to be tough in some regions - so maybe you have to move out of state for 2 years and then come back when your resume is bangin'
I'm definitely luck because it wasn't too hard convincing my girl to move to Paris, that's for sure :D

That looks pretty good to me though, I like the changes. It doesn't matter much at this point since I already sent it, but i'll save that as a template for future applications. Thanks for the rework. :)
Yeah, using that word is an easy habit to get into. Especially when writing an article that doesn't lend itself to easy transitions.

I'm great when it comes to interviewing, it's just that I never actually get that far, even when I apply to jobs that i'm overqualified for. I honestly and truly believe that i'm cursed. I mean, I know that sounds crazy, but how else could you explain it? You know how in some ads, they list each skill you should have for the job? There have been plenty where i've met every single one and yet, I don't even get an accidental phone call. It has to be a curse.I understand the feeling. Although in my case, I get nervous with interviews (think about them way too much). One reason I may lose out on a job has to do with the way I handled some questions, or I have a small problem getting too excited over things (Professors told me I needed to work on that).
i would leave.
seriously man, you're in your mid twenties and aren't allowed to use a stove, that is fucked up.
all geek and nerd jokes aside - you're missing out on a lot of autonomy, and with that comes new experiences like... not playing video games and learning new things and meeting new people.
it's not to have a house party, but you can't even ask a girl over to watch a movie - now how you gonna get play or learn to not prematurely ejaculate if you can't even have a girl over to watch a movie?
how you gonna make a bomb ass macaroni and cheese casserole if you can't use a stove?
man, why you even gotta do a thing?I see what you mean and I agree. In my own apartment though, I only used the stove to make Rice or Spaghetti. My Dad thought the reason I had a box of rice with my stuff was for my Mom could visit me and coke it (yeah right).
Impressive trophies, TMK.
Have you ever considered saving money to move out instead of buying games? They are just bowling trophies, from coming 3rd in a tournament and for participating in a league two years. I also had a plaque from volunteer work I did in H.S.
As for moving out, I just need a good job to get enough money. Right now, I'm not making money. If I got the job this summer (until the guy changed his mind), I would have been able to do that.
Wait, does your mom live there too?
Does your dad beat her up or something?Yeah. She doesn't really beat her up. My Dad use to beat on me when I was 14 or younger, when he had too much to drink. I'll still never forget the time my Dad picked me up, slammed me against a closet door, then tossed me across the room, all over a disagreement. Thankfully my Dad stopped. I'll admit one reason I did not drink had to be abused by my Dad.

I feel your pain temp. I'm stuck here in Boston now, and the job market is awful. The job market in my hometown is even worse (where I live now). Unless you are a doctor, lawyer, or son/daughter of a bunsiness owner, you cannot get anything. If I'm going to get a job, I MUST move out, but I only have like $500 to get started with. First off, I want to get my transportation issues solved. Once I get them solved, I'll look elsewhere more seriously. It may hurt because I'm trying to stick to the midwest for a job (It's where I'm most comfortable living and housing is cheap). I don't really want to move out west or east since housing prices are high (I believe they are high in Boston). Some think me moving out East/West (getting far away from my parents) would be a good thing and help me grow up more. I'll probably stick to IN, IL, KY, OH, and MI.

(I'd only be a radio DJ if it were for, like, NPR... and it were a contemporary program that didn't feel like radio, and I played music I liked, and talked about whatever I felt like saying. Small market radio has no room for creativity... or even personality, for that matter. Yuck.)

Mostly because of the taxes here, but also because of the asinine communist health care plan we have here. The funny thing is that our division of the main company is doing better this year than the last based on advertising revenue.
That's probably the best idea I have ever read.
That's great. Our paper actually isn't doing too bad either. I even got a bonus last week because of it. I hear the economic downturn is hurting the paper business.

Missed this earlier.
And yes, housing is high high high as the sky here.
I'm paying almost $1000/month for a studio (like I'll have to show pictures so you can see how small it is). It's right in the middle of the city though. The fiancee and I are moving out of the city to a $1350/month massive 1 BR with ridiculous amenities (gym, pool, walking distance to train, etc), but she just got a FT job that pays more than we were both making combined. Hopefully I'll have a job by when we move in in late August.

I'm more partial to the time you blacked out and threw a chair at your teacher.
Why did you do that again?I was in Elementary School. I was getting a detention because I forgot to bring my pencil to Science Lab. My teacher had a strict rule, one check = noon detention, and I was trying to stay out of it all semester. I ended up getting a detention coupon out of it actually. Let's just say I had a really short fuse at the time.
A week later (this was the story I kind of told people), my music teacher made me angry, so I threw a recorder at her (a musical instrument). After I did, she told me to do whatever discipline my teacher had. I wasn't going to tell her, but someone in my class did, so I was going to get detention. I was quite upset over the issue, so my teacher sent me out in the hallway (I was constantly sent out to the hallway back in Elementary School). I got tired of waiting, so I slammed the door really loud (everyone could hear it). I jumped and started kicking my 4th grade teacher and can't remember if I gave him a punch or not. After that, I got sent to the Principals Office for the rest of the day. I got tired of being there, so I picked up a chair and threw it in the Principals office. All I got out of this was a detention.
After that, I did nothing bad. I was quite a troubled child early on, but when I got to middle school and above, I completely changed.

Currently:
The university I attended has security people at the front desk of every dorm 24 hours a day. I supervise them, answer calls regarding security issues there, do rounds around campus to check on all the proctors and the buildings and contact Residential Life (RAs) staff when people are locked out and such. We have a separate (legitimate) police force, so it's not like a campus cop thing. I'm technically employed by the Housing Department.
It pays very well, especially since I work 6 AM shifts which are given a differential (paid more because no one wants to work them), but it's part time so no benefits.
I also do freelance videography/editing when I can get it for some extra cash, but the offers are limited due to my location.

We all give each other shit here, it's what we do and everyone knows it's (usually) nothing personal and all in the name of fun, so I can't help but think you had something to do with it.I'll admit, at one point I was getting a bit too sensitive; however, after spending time reading the OTT more carefully, I realized it's what you to do each other, so I really have no problem. I just learned to let stuff slide and relax. No harm in anyone laughing at me or talking about me (as long as no one is calling me an idiot).
Anyway, I have something for you all to laugh at, once I get around to uploading the video.

Come on, dc.
You might as well just watch a movie, shit.
If I would I could. I want the whole thing to be cut scenes. The gameplay is good but at this point it's only getting in the way of the next cut scene.

DCfox, why do you even bother to play games? What you just said was something a gamer would NEVER say. What you're basically saying is that your $60 game sucks because you actually have to play it and you wish it was a $60 movie. I hate you.
My mom just brought me a Monte Cristo (sandwich) and a pair of checkered cargo shorts to work.

I never said the game sucks. Did you miss where I complimented the gameplay? All I'm saying is if I could sit and watch a 5 hour movie instead of having to play through it for 15 hours why wouldn't I? This isn't true for all games but I think for a game like MGS where the emphasis is on the story it's perfectly fine to make that kind of statement.
A friend of mine once wore the same pair of jeans for, like, 2 months, or something wild.
The thighs were green, because he'd eat Doritos and Cheetos and wipe the cheese dust on his jeans. Orange + Blue = Green
We'd call him Mr. Green Jeans.

Had one about a month ago, it was pretty good but I felt like shit after a couple of hours. Way too much unhealthy stuff in there.

I think that and The Naked City will be my next DVD purchases.
I've been meaning to get Lolita, Eyes Wide Shut and Paths of Glory for the longest time, too.

Paths of Glory - best war movie ever.
too bad Kubrick had to go out on Eyes Wide Shut, which has Tom Cruise in it - that's all i need to say.
What about A.I.?
That's gross that they passed it along to the bizarro Kubrick.

I actually had my first one on Thursday night, as I usually get the Guinness Glazed Bacon Cheeseburger. They give you four Monte Cristo slices, and I ate three, and I pretty much felt the way I feel after eating a lot at a buffet. So it wasn't like I felt awful, but I was pretty stuffed. The next day, I ate the last piece for lunch, and I felt like shit the entire afternoon. Horrible, horrible stomach feelings.
So delicious though. I probably won't ever order it again, though.

I wish I knew how to check for sure, when my brother was playing I saw all the prompts go up that said that the Gold extras were unlocked, not sure if that was a glitch.
